What a great tasty experience! We are looking to go back soon.

I am also glad that they are taking the pandemic seriously and have air filters installed with UV lights (based on their site)

This is Food Art. We dine hear at least once a season, often more (my sister is a serious vegetarian - leaning heavily toward totally raw). Elizabeth never disappoints. However, this time she exceeded expectations. This Autumn menu was an absolute delight. There were so many textures and flavors, literally bursting in each bite. The presentation is always a lovely tableau. The curated music is the most perfect accompaniment to the beautiful room and superior service. Treat yourself, if you really deserve a treat, add the wine pairing (I usually do, but the magarita with an edible hibiscus flower, and a delicious Bordeaux that I couldn't stop drinking, drew me away this time)

Such a lovely place to enjoy unique and good food . The service is attentive but not bothersome, the food is delicious and not heavy, and the wines, beers and cocktails wonderful. Good place to go to catch up with friends, laugh, talk and enjoy something different.

The ambiance and location was great. However the price for the portion size and quality of the food that was given for each course was ridiculous. On top of that we opted for a wine pairing with the tasting menu. I had been on the website and was prepared for the cost of the tasting menu and the "service fee" that was added to the bill. However I was not prepared for the $120 extra that was charged for the wine pairing. This brought my bill to approximately $400. I paid with no complaint, but I felt that it should have been explained the extra cost involved. The staff was accommodating and offered extra helpings of the entrées, but it was not enough to offset the sticker price. We will not go there again.
UPDATE: 9/15/2020 The owner has reached out and offered to refund the price of the wine pairing along with the accompanying service fee that went with the pairing. I felt like this was excellent customer service and a testament to what Elizabeth Gone Raw hopes to present to its community. I will now amend my review to 4 stars. Her personal contact to me has made me reconsider my patronage in the future.

As always, Elizabeth provided a S T E L L A R experience. The menu was an exemplar of creativity and experience. The fare was prepared with skill and presented artfully. The experience of the dinner was well curated and precisely executed. I could not recommend an evening any more highly than an evening with Elizabeth and her fine staff!

Elizabeth's Gone Raw…the best food on the planet and they are now serving in a safe, socially distant setting with a serious air cleaning system! I am on their mailing list and they sent out a really impressive message about a new air cleaning system they have installed into their main heating and air conditioning system (not a little floor machine) It is called Air Scrubbers by Aerus. The web site https://www.airscrubberbyaerus.com/ explained that it is used by the space program for astronauts and removes all sorts of pathogens! To me this air cleaner seems like it should be everywhere these days so we can get back to business!

Now back to the food!!! …Elizabeth's Gone Raw is truly the most amazing restaurant I have ever encountered and it has made it so that I "don’t want to eat anywhere else! "
The chef completely dreams up new creations monthly, never to have hit any other human's palette so I have gotten into the routine of going there every month and taking friends and we are always knocked over by how it is possible that the chef would continue to outdo himself month after month. Where do his ideas come from??? He is truly divinely gifted! And now I am so psyched because they have a separate carry out/delivery menu so it is possible to "live on their food!"

I have invited some friends there "kicking and screaming" thinking they are going to feel deprived because it is organic, plant based, gluten free, and the look of euphoria on their faces while they are experiencing the 6 -7 course menu is so priceless! And I can tell you in all honesty, they leave feeling that it was among their best if not the best dining experience of their lives! I hope you will share my "addiction!" Elizabeth's Gone Raw is "my happy place!"

I say this with 1000% honesty, this was the best meal I’ve ever had. Everything was amazing. The food, wine pairings, the ambiance, PERFECTION. The service was out of this world. I ended up drinking too much, and Elizabeth herself ended up walking me back to my hotel to make sure I was safe. Honestly the kindest thing. I’m blown away and I can’t wait for my next trip to DC to dine here. Thank you guys so much.

A long- awaited experience

We finally had the reservation for a sit- down dinner at Elizabeth’s, a much- needed respite to be with friends and enjoyed a great experience. To use only plant- based ingredients making dishes with layers of textures as well as flavors is a high art, and Elizabeth delivers on a grand scale. The ambience and the attentive wait staff made the evening unforgettable.

The food and service were wonderful. The kale chips are insane!!! We had such a great experience. However, there were two things that we didn't like, but honestly we would still go back. The first, which has been mentioned by other diners, was the surcharge. We knew about the surcharge from reading previous reviews, but it was still weird to see it on the bill. When we asked the host about it, she said that was used to ensure that the wait staff were paid a fare wage. I told her that it would be better if the prices were raised considering people coming to the restaurant already know that they will be paying more for a quality experience. It just seems odd to have a surcharge that is not inclusive of the tip.The second thing was that we were charged more for not drinking. The dinner was $80 per person with no drinks and $60 with drinks. We do not drink so it was a bit weird being charged more for the prix fix meal with no alcohol than with alcohol. I thought it was a misprint on the menu but it was not. If we go back with friends, we will just give them our drinks to get the lower costs. :)

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are glad that your experience at Elizabeth's was enjoyable. We would like to clarify that our prix fixe menu price is $80 per person and there's an optional $60 wine pairing per person. Therefore, dinner with wine pairing would be $140 per person. Sorry for the lack of the clarity on our menu and hope you will join us again soon.

I live in Austin Texas but every time I come to visit my son in DC we always go to Elizabeth's Gone Raw. There is no place like it in the world, where you can get such aesthetic flavorful vegan food in such a wonderful comfortable elegant environment. Elizabeth and her people are very warm and gracious. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. I am sure people who are not Vegan love it too, the tastes are exquisite!

This is a special and unique place. My wife who is a vegetarian loved it, I liked it. Some of the food I think is a bit too obscure, at least for me. However, it is creative, the setting is cozy, the staff was terrific and the fact that a high end vegan place exists is impressive and deserves support.

Everything was great except the food. It was lackluster. The flavors were very disjointed for 7 courses; they didn't flow or compliment each other. To have a "tasting menu" priced over $100 per person, we were not satisfied. Nice atmosphere, however better suited for small group of 2 or less, because conversation is difficult to maintain due to someone consistently interrupting with either food or the description of it. This is a good place if you want to impress someone with table service, but not necessarily the food.

I have been wanting to come here for years, and my expectations were very high. Finally made it happen for a 5-year wedding anniversary. This exceptional experience blew my super high expectations out of the water! The food was so intelligently delicious that I genuinely wanted to cry with joy. It was rich in flavor but did not feel heavy at all. The wine pairing was the best of my life, same for my husband who grew up eating in fine dining restaurants and drinking expensive wine. Absolute first-class service and experience from start to finish. Expensive yes, but it's vegan and organic and world class, so what else would you expect?!

This restaurant is fantastic. The organic, vegan menu is wonderful. The food is more delicious than any other food I’ve ever eaten at a restaurant, and I’ve been to multiple Michelin-starred venues. The service is impeccable, and the servers are highly attentive and knowledgeable. I’ve been here on three separate occasions, and each visit only increased my admiration. Rarely has a restaurant been so enjoyable that I came back again. Thank you, Elizabeth’s Gone Raw, for the unparalleled dining experience.

This was my third time dining at Elizabeth’s. It was another great dining experience overall. As usual, we enjoyed the attentive and professional service, fantastic cocktails, addictive kale chips, and beautifully prepared and presented food. The only dish that wasn’t great was the jackfruit ravioli. Nobody in our party liked it. Everything else was delicious. But the thing that I really didn’t appreciate was the new 15% “service charge” added to my bill - which is not a tip. It was explained as a fee that allows the restaurant to pay the servers a fair wage, but if you wish to tip the servers, you have to add an additional gratuity. So - basically you have to pay at least 30% on top of the already pricey food bill just to give a modest tip. I’m not sure when or why they started doing this, but it will make me think twice before going there again.

The food was creative and beautiful. There were a couple things I didn’t find particularly flavorful, but there was so much that was excellent. Had the wine pairing (well paired). Next time I’d probably have a glass or two instead since the pours left me wanting more. One thing I would change is the 20% service fee. If you want to charge more, increase the price of the meal. After such a nice evening, it was a very odd and awkward conversation to have with the server about a 20% fee (typical tip percentage) that isn’t a tip, but is called a service charge and goes to the people serving. Isn’t that a tip? Am I supposed to tip 20% more on top of the bill that includes a 20% service fee? Don’t make it awkward and ambiguous for the customer who’s having a special evening.

From the stunning cocktails at the quaint bar as you enter Elizabeth's Gone Raw to the 7th course of the price fixed meal, everything was amazing. Overall this was a great dining experience. If someone is skeptical about vegan food, it's the place that shows you what vegan can be. Great ambiance and feels like the place you go for a special date/occasion.
The only downside to our experience is I thought our server was just okay. She wasn't particularly friendly - e.g., didn't ask us if it was our first time to explain what to expect or ask how we were enjoying our food. She was adequate. That wouldn't stop me from going again though. Did feel a bit rushed at the end. My date didn't notice but it felt that way to me. I get it - other people who want to eat - but for the price and pace, I don't think guests should feel that way. But, again, overall this was a great dining experience and would recommend checking it out.

Dining at Elizabeth’s Gone Raw is an amazing experience. The most important thing that can be said is that while the menu is vegan, the food is terrific and should be appreciated and enjoyed by all interested in top level fine dining.

We dined in a group of 5, none of whom is vegan, and we were all incredibly impressed, by the creativity of the tasting menu, the quality of the preparation of each dish, and the overall presentation. We also enjoyed the thoughtful and diverse wine parings, also highly recommended.

Finally, the restaurant is a beautiful setting, and the service is polished and professional, without being stiff or pretentious. This is a must-experience restaurant.
