We are always searching for authentic Bavarian/German cuisine so were very excited to find this restaurant so close to our new home. When our server arrived, we informed her that it was our first visit. We waited 45 minutes for our appetizer, which was delicious but came only minutes before our entrees. The food was very good; taste, presentation. Our wine and beer were very good. While we waited a few minutes to digest, our server brought our bill without offering dessert and coffee. The room might have been cozy but the patrons at the next table were extremely loud so we found it hard to hear our own conversation.
We would go back for the food, though it's a bit pricey, and hopefully we'd be seated in a quieter spot.
We all enjoy the food here and what you can not see on the website are the Vegetarian Schnitzel options! They are very delicious! Service is consistently very good.
Had not been here for several years - still good food friendly Staff and nice ambiance
Food was delicious, a big serving that we almost couldn't finish. Great schnitzel. Service was very good! Enjoyed the evening.
Best restaurant in the area. Good value I thought.
Excellent food, as always, but the server was terrible...mixed up our appetizers, forgot to order one appetizer, then brought out the wrong one, then totally mixed up the bill...(2 couples-2 bills) nice lady but very ditzy
It was my husband’s birthday & he really wanted to have schnitzel. Elizabeth’s did not disappoint. There are several schnitzels offered on the menu. The waitress was very friendly & sent over a small slice of Black Forest cake as a treat for the “birthday boy”. They were very accommodating when my daughter & I both asked for more veggies instead of potato for our bratwurst dishes. The fresh hot bread was readily available. It’s a very nice old fashioned restaurant. Nothing fancy, perfect for families.
I forwarded a review - to an e-mail address found on your website - the day following our recent experience on February 14. I will summarise:
1) Reservation system was extremely poorly managed. It devolved into simply a lineup to enter the restaurant and reservations were ignored.
2) Quality of meals served was not good...
a) Three people ordered filet mignon. They did not enjoy their selections. They were served mashed potatoes with their orders and were not afforded to select the potatoes they wanted with their orders, like the menu stipulated.
b) I ordered Schnitzel Madagascar. it was tasty, but tasted, as well, overcooked. I asked for some additional peppercorn sauce with my schnitzel, excepting that it would be served on the schnitzel when my meal was delivered. Instead, the server, after bringing my meal, later returned to the table with a small ladle of sauce. I was surprised to find that I was charged - when the bill arrived - $4.00 additional for this extra sauce. I had never experienced extra billing in this fashion in a restaurant before.
c) The potatoes that were served with my meal were of a "homefried" variety. they were overcooked and "mushy" - more like you would expect in a lower priced breakfast kind of restaurant, than in a restaurant your venue advertises itself as.
d) One of the servers who attended our table - a taller, slender lady, with longer blond hair tied back in a pony tail (essentially replenished our water glasses) - appeared very unhappy and did not add at all to our enjoyment of our evening.
e) Two of us ordered glasses of beer when we sat down at our table. Our drinks were not replenished, nor were we asked if wanted them replenished.
Overbooked reservations for Valentines Day then couldn't effectively deal with overflow or upset customers. Not a great way to do business! Waiter more than made up for it and was left a nice tip!
So very disappointed to arrive at Elisabeth's 5 minutes prior to our reserved time to find a long lineup full of upset guests due to gross overbooking. We were jammed in after a 40 minute wait, very noisy...and poor service... We have been coming for years and years and have never been so disappointed and let down as we were on Feb.14
Food was okay but we were rushed as restaurant closes at 9pm
Great food, attentive service, excellent value. We mentioned it was a birthday when booking, and they put a vase of fresh flowers at the head of the table. Lovely gesture.
Thank you to the staff at Elisabeth Chalet. Went for my sons birthday, there was 7 of us. Service, food and ambiance were absolutely suburb. Highly recommend. Will be coming back soon.
Very good vegetarian choices as well.
This was a birthday dinner that was reserved for twelve people. Everyone enjoyed their choices of dinner. The waitress was excellent and very attentive. We enjoyed the evening.
Our only complaint was that the service was almost too good. At one point, we had 3 different servers ask to take out plates within 3 min. My husband had his fork in his hand with food on it.
Great staff, very friendly. The people there are awesome and will help in any way. The food is good and we will definitely return!
Very nice place for dinner. Staff is very friendly and courteous.
Always an enjoyable experience
Great food and warm friendly setting
Have eaten here before, always a good go to place for dinner and good conversations with friends.
The food is amazing and so is the service. This is the 2nd time we have booked a last minute reservation on New Year’s Eve, and they have happily accommodated.
Our server was very good, we enjoyed our food and had a good time.
The special sounded awesome and I was really looking forward to having escargots for an appetizer. The prawns and scallops were awesome but the steak was very chewy. And the escargot stuffed mushrooms? Bleah. I’ve had better anywhere else. All old people there New Year’s Eve which I can understand. We gave it a try but probably won’t go back.
Always a pleasure to dine at Elisabeth's. Great food, service and ambience. Thank you.
Tasty food, good menu. Service great as always. Perfect for get togethers with family and friends. Authentic cuisine.
appetizer crab cake is $12 and only comes with 1 cake.
Appetizer for shrimp is $12 and only comes with 3 shrimps.
All appetizers were small and expensive. Even bread was not enough.
The mains were very good. The service was good. The price for the mains was fair. I will come back, but will not be ordering appetizers anymore.
Cozy atmosphere and excellent service. The waiter recommended his two favourite dishes and they did not disappoint!
I have been going to this restaurant for years even when it was The Old Country Inn in Langley. Everything was great. Find the schnitzels aren't as large as they once were. I think it is the same amount of meat but the were previously pounded thinner? Only complaint was the bread they served consisted of three round pieces. One was the end piece that was the size of a golf ball and the two other were approx 1" thick by 1 1/2" in diameter. I ordered the cheese toast and it was one thick piece of bread but didn't think value was there. Service was outstanding and banana cream pie was the best. We will be back but please don't start being cheap.
Excellent service, friendly staff, delicious food! I would recommend Elisabeth's! We look forward to our next visit.
We love Elizabeth's. It is hard to find a restaurant that server good comfort food. Many restaurants try to be different and miss the mark. A good night is were everything blends together, food, friendly staff, ambiance and good company. No TV, no guests on cell phones or playing video games!
Elizabeth's is a good choice
First of all, we try and go out every few weeks and are on a limited budget. I purchase the Entertainment guide from my grandson for his school, so try and get as much use of it as we can. Our friends and my husband and myself each had a coupon which we were told we could not use, only one per table. This practice is not followed any other place, since we use them a lot. Our friend ordered a small prime rib and was charged for the larger one on the bill. The lady talked me into ordering pork instead of chicken. My meal was terrible. Sorry but it was not a very good experience. We had been here before and it was excellent food and we were able to each use our coupons. Sorry Karen Byle
It is a very comfortable restaurant, service is always great and food is consistently good. You can have a great visit with friends, not overly loud or too crowded
Upon arrival we received a warm and friendly greeting. Seated immediately. Our waitress was friendly. Service was quick. Food was delicious. Our first time there. We will definitely go back.
This is a great restaurant with friendly attentive staff, great service, and delicious food. We have been here three times and have never been disappointed. Highly recommend !
Elizabeth’s was extremely busy the evening of our reservations, but after a short wait our table for 13 was ready. We were celebrating our 50th anniversary with our family. Service was excellent, and food great. It was a bit noisy, but understandable as it was very busy. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and have dined there several times before.
Server knew how to read our table, nailed the service!
Great food and Ambience. Excellent service. Delicious desserts.
As always, we had a very enjoyable visit to Elizabeth's. It is nice to know that there are several vegetarian options on the menu.
I thought the food was excellent as well as the service.
My Schnitzel wasn't crisp but mine was the only one like that in my foursome. The other change was the potatoes were fried to point of being dry. Formerly the potatoes were made with onion + bacon + more flavourful. In my opinion. We have frequented this restaurant for many years + I'm glad it's traditional European food is still being served. I think it would have been kind to comp. the slice of Birthday cake my 88 yr. old mom was served, but it wasn't. They did give her 2 short carnations wrapped in a paper doily....nice, but....ALSO, the washroom is in serious need of updating.
Best schnitzel on the west coast at a very reasonable price
