With its authentic Bavarian woodworks and its cozy lay-out, you soon imagine yourself in an Austrian "Gasthof:," right in beautiful "Downtown" Cloverdale.
The fresh flower arrangements everywhere, crisp linen and friendly, knowledgeable servers make these surroundings relaxing and very comfortable. Elisabeth Chalet has been serving the Fraser Valley for 30 years with delicious Schnitzels, Steaks, Bratwurst and fresh Seafood. Our Chefs are European trained and have been working with us for 30 years!
"Consistency is our trademark."
It was a nice evening. Schnitzel was good as always. Their beer, wine and liquor prices are on the high side.
Great place to eat wit welcoming staff and a European decor. Food is consistently good.
We enjoyed our New Year's Eve Dinner very much! Excellent service & friendliness from our server Michael. Very busy evening but our food was served prompt and hot! We have been before for luncheons, etc. & will continue to support Elizabeth's Chalet.
One of the better evenings I’ve ever had. my husband and I and another couple Had the pleasure of spending a couple of hours New Year’s Eve-unfortunately I cannot remember our waiter’s name but he was phenomenal. And the food was absolutely amazing
I was disappointed this time as were others in our group. First we requested a booth well in advance a few days before, and when we arrived the booth was still occupied. It shouldn’t have been given to others in the first place unless they pre-warned them that there was a reservation booked for 5 pm for that booth. We had to choose a different location less comfortable for special needs in our group.
We also informed them that there were two vegans attending. But despite this the specials were for meat or fish eaters with no options for vegans. When asking we felt that we were an inconvenience for them and gave up trying. It is for my husband’s special health needs. Their food is great but they need vegan options for people too!
Food is always amazing! Service excellent. Not perfect but still excellent. Will be coming back.
My wife and I wanted to take my Mother to Elizabeth's for Christmas Eve dinner so my wife and I went a few weeks earlier to try it out and everything was good so we made a reservation for the 24th. Unfortunately things on the 24th were not very good. People who were seated after us got their order taken before us and received their meals before we did. I actually had to tell one of the servers that we hadn't had our orders taken yet and if she could please send us a waitress to take our order. When the food finally arrived it was obvious the prep was rushed and unfortunately non of us enjoyed our meal and my wife's and my meals were a far cry from a few weeks earlier.
We made reservations on line but they did not have it in their book, but fortunately were able to get us a table.
The waiter never told us about the specials. We only found out there were specials because we overheard him to tell to the table beside us. We were a little disappointed as we would of ordered the specials had we heard them before ordering our food.
It was okay, staff is not very friendly and no one smiles.
The food was great and the staff is outstanding. The restaurant has a very nice ambiance to it, classy but not obnoxious. I can't say enough about how great the staff was at taking care of us. A water glass was never allowed to get to half, never mind empty.
The entrees were reasonably priced ($23-$30 per person) Which was a good value for the large size portions and the quality of the food. The only really nitpicky thing was that for 9 people they brought out 2 baskets of bread (that was completely delicious and devoured) and then to get more bread while waiting for our food, they charge extra. It seemed an odd thing to do for the quality of the restaurant.
They did make our night perfect and we enjoyed it very much and would return. Thanks so much.
Elizabeth’s reminds me of being in Germany visiting my family. The food is excellent and the service is always wonderful. The staff are so friendly and attentive. We always enjoy our meals at Elizabeth’s and look forward to returning!
Once again I did not enjoy being here. This was my moms favorite restaurant in the past. I could cook the same bland food at home. I found the steak dissapointing especially for that price. The French onion soup should not taste like that, and it boasts about the cheese in it, I needed a magnifying glass to find the cheese in this TINY bowl of soup. I am sure the cook is great, just not my thing I guess. I was raised on this kind of food. The red cabbage had no flavour. The rice pudding is too expensive. On the plus side, the amount you got on your plate was impressive. I think the menu needs more choices added to it. Unfortunately I don't think I will be back.
Great food, great service and nice peaceful and festive environment.
Had reservation for an important birthday with someone coming in from out of town. Arrived and lobby was packed no attention for half an hour and reservation book was at front desk no one there to assist so clearly was overbooked so I wrote on reservation book next to my name that I was here - waited and left. Very disappointed
Amazing food, fantastic service, and a great value. We will be returning many times.
Great food! Friendly staff! Was a nice dinner with my wife and we will deflnitely be back for some schnitzel!
For the most part I found th the prices to be very expensive and the the shitzel very thin it's favvore was good but not as good as others I have had and the crab cake was offull with no crab favored at all you could not tell that it was crab at all. I would not recommend this restraint to friends!
Liver & onions...who knew?!...best I've ever had!
Consistent good food. Friendly staff, good service. Tasty and hot food.
Very good Schnitzel and generous portions. We returned after many years and the food quality and ambiance is still great!
Amazing food ! Large portions, comes out quick and it’s always super hot ! Schnitzel is second to none.
Highly recommend this place for a special occasion or a get together with family.
Nigel’s service is top notch and the place has a really nice old school charm to it.
We really like the quiet atmosphere and prompt service along with the delicious food. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we would definitely go back again. Our two young grandsons were with us and the waitress was very good to bring their meals first which doesn't often happen in many restaurants.
See my comments on TripAdvisor. Our dinner was very good and the staff were friendly and very accommodating.
Have been to this restaurant a few times and never been disappointed. During the most recent visit, the kitchen had our appetizers out within a few minutes and our entrees arrived soon after - piping hot and perfect! Wait staff are always friendly and helpful. Would strongly recommend this restaurant.
This was the first time we have been although passed by many times as we live in the area. We were pleased with the experience. Food was good, service terrific, very elegant traditional decor and overall ambiance. Would definitely return and have no hesitation recommending this restaurant.
Love their schnitzel! Server forgot to tell us about the specials before we ordered.
Our tradition is to spend our anniversary dinner at Elisabeth’s. We have never been disappointed. Our server, Nigel, is the best!!
Had a lovely lunch, we both had salads that were delicious! I had the Caesar with chicken & my father the Cobb Salad. Service & our waiter were great!
I was surprised to get a reservation as it used to be that you had to book at least a week in advance. It was very quiet for a Friday night. Is this because of new owners? The service was very good. Weiner schnitzel was good although a little dry. Potatoes could have been fried longer and served hotter.. People I was with thought schnitzel was a little dry as well and sauces and potatoes could have been hotter as well. We hope to be able to g back.
Was my first time at Elisabeth's. Our server was funny and the food was delicious! Will definitely be coming back!
Always an enjoyable place to visit. Excellent food and service.
My friend had the orange duck and said it was wonderful. My schnitzel was very good, ate the whole plate of food. Their escargot appetizer was so tasty. We were early dinner seating and it was a Monday so service was extremely good.
Amazing ! Love this place
The best Rouladen since my mother used to make them, in fact they may be just a little more tender!!
When WE arrived we were seated quickly and were offered a cocktail quickly.
The service from there was slow. By the end of the evening it was almost non-existent.
The food was average, the restaurant was was nice and our table was in a quiet area which we had requested.
Our waiter seemed more intent on serving the regular customers than us.
Went for our anniversary but were disappointed.
It is one of our favorite places to eat. I took my friend there to celebrate her birthday.
Everything was perfect-we had a great time-she hadn't been there for many years.
We had a martini & a schnitzel-wonderful treat!
It is always good!! Cheers!
This restaurant is lovely and quaint and the service is excellent, as long as it's not busy.
On a quiet night it's perfect.
It does need a little pick me up on the décor though, even though it's clean and tidy
it could be modernized a tiny bit. I still like it though.
We re-discovered Elisabeth's Chalet using a coupon from a local magazine and are glad we did! Both of us had a schnitzel and enjoyed desert with coffee after our lovely meals. The food, service and venue account for one of Cloverdale's hidden gems. If you enjoy traditional Europen cuisine, I reckon you will enjoy Elisabeth's Chalet.
Birthday and anniversary
Nice place, good ''old world'' type service. Food was very good and fairly priced. Very nice waiter, there when you wanted him, as was the bus girl. Nice to have a European style restaurant close to home.
