ELEVEN Ratings and Reviews
I chose Eleven as my Birthday dinner, as I have done over the years. The food is always amazing and this year didn't disappoint. The reason for the 3 stars was the service. The service has always been superb and this year just felt a little flat/off. Nothing major just not at the level we have had in the past.
But to get back to the food review..... we had 1.5 dz fresh oysters and they were so delish. The vinegrette served with them is so good!!!! I had a kale and brussel sprout salad and hubs had the potato and bacon soup. I think we both licked our plates clean!!! For entrees, he had the hangar steak and I had the black bass. We didn't even talk as we were so engrossed in devouring our meals :)
We took dessert home to enjoy - I had the candy bar cake which was a mix of chocolate and peanut butter with choc malt ice cream. He had a banana cream concoction. Both divine!!!!
Plan to go - I've never been disappointed with the food.
Eleven continues to be the top notch restaurant in Pittsburgh. Food is prepared and served with the utmost care. You always feel very special when dining here. No matter what your choice on the menu, you can be assured that it will be an outstanding combination of taste and presentation. Fabulous choice when looking for a place to dine and not just eat.
Everything was top notch. We were especially happy with their server, Bob, who was incredibly attentive but not at all overbearing. We had very few questions, but those that we asked he answered honestly and helped to guide us through the menu. The food was phenomenal - We will be back!
ELEVEN is definately one of our go-to’s if we really looking for a delicious meal with a beautiful setting. From the attention to detail to the creative cuisine I give Eleven a five star. The scallop appetizer was amazing as always...the steaks were cooked to perfection. Our server Brian was phenomenal....on point with every question we had or request...the coursing was perfect. Please don’t let the fact that this is a sister restaraunt of Big Burrito Company deter you from going thinking it’s a “chain” or a Mad Mex environment....This is an upscale dining experience worthy of any special occasion...there is a Juliet Balcony you can request as well as private rooms for bigger parties....The Moscow Mules are the best in the city...one of the only places I’ve been that use Fever Tree ginger beer.
Eleven was very good but not evenly good. The oysters were fabulous and very reasonably priced with two sauces, one a fruit mignonette and the other the house hot sauce. Both were excellent and we alternated. The mussels were a slight twist on a classic with all the garlic and white wine but also some ham, some croute pieces, and a light mix of fennel and tarragon. The salad was a nice blend of greens nicely dressed. All of these were great but the entrees were just good. They were also enormously proportioned so impossible to finish and both were a little on the sweet side for our taste for entrees. The sorbets were imaginative flavors and exquisite.
Food was very, very, very rich, almost too rich. Prices were pretty expensive as expected, but the portions were not very good. selected 3 cheeses for 12 bucks and received 6 tiny pieces of cheese. Wine list was great, but I brought my own bottle and they charged 20 bucks for that. still a better price to buy a nice bottle and bring it than buy 4 glasses of wine. Atmosphere was nice but were seated near the kitchen and was a little bit noisy. Overall it was a nice place with quality food, I just believe they try to do way to much with the food and over price everything to call it "fine dining". You could easily find a place with food equally as good or better for much much less.
We were celebrating 2 birthdays at brunch, which we have done for many years. This year the service was not the the same quality that we have been accustomed. The waiter was pleasant but not very attentive. The appetizers were disappointing. When our entrees were served, two of three had to be returned because they were not hot. Two of us could not finish our entrees so the waiter offered to "box" them and left the food at the hostess desk for us to pickup. My daughter picked the bag up as we were leaving because I was busy taking care of my handicapped Mother. When we got home, we realized we were given the wrong bag. We had someone else's food. It was definitely not an occasion I want to repeat. It certainly did not reflect the quality and service we have enjoyed previously. I don't think we will be making a return visit in the near future.
Best meal I’ve had, PERIOD. And we know food. Everything about this experience was excellent. The oysters were fresh with a delicate taste. The fois gras and accompanying flavors were amazing - it was a melt in your mouth delicacy. The swordfish and shrimp risotto was delicious and pork chop was cooked to perfection. We had the chocolate cake dessert and a cheese plate to finish and haven’t stopped raving about the meal. Our waiter, Brian, and our hostess were attentive and friendly. Overall the best dining experience I’ve ever had; and hands down the best food. Thank you Big Burrito!!
This is my second time at Eleven. This time, I got the Breakfast Burger, and I greatly enjoyed the parmesan-infused hash browns. I'm always confused why it's so empty; it serves great food. Nonetheless, I will be returning to try other options.
The service was below par but the food was good. Our server didn't introduce himself as such so I was beginning to wonder if he was our busboy because he poured our water but didn't say much else at the beginning. We went with the server's suggestions and we were happy with the selections except for the kale/Brussels sprout salad. The salad was very airy, light, and pretty bland. We had to ask for bread twice. We felt we were sitting in the "dark zone" because of the very inattentive service. Unfortunately, the lag in service ruined the dining experience. I observed other tables getting much better service. The server was nice but not attentive. Overall I would suggest the restaurant with hesitation.
