Eleven South Bistro Ratings and Reviews
I recently made my first visit to Eleven South Bistro. I had a first date with a wonderful woman and she recommended the location.
Parking was extremely limited but free valet parking was provided. We arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation time but were very promptly seated. Nonetheless, I would not try to go there on a weekend without a reservation.
The wait staff was attentive without hovering. The only complaint I have about the visit is the noise level. We were there on a Friday night at 8 pm so of course the restaurant was crowded. We were seated on the edge of the dining area so we weren't totally surrounded by noise but we still had difficulty hearing each other.
We each had one mixed drink before the meal. I had a bowl of Italian wedding soup and it was good but not outstanding. I chose the short rib entree and it was very tender and tasty. My date had the salmon; she is more of a foodie that am I and she was very happy with the meal. Neither of us ordered a dessert. The bill for the two of us was $86.
This is not my new favorite restaurant but I will definitely return in the future.
Our party of four were celebrating two birthdays on Monday, January 15th. This is my special occasion first choice restaurant. The food is always fantastic, along with its excellent wine selections. I was very disappointed with the prime rib. The meat was not hot, juicy or flavorful. It was probably left over from the weekend and reheated. I would rate it below fair. The accompanying blue cheese mashed potatoes were not creamy or hot. The texture and taste was as if it had been refrigerated or frozen and reheated. I was not the least bit appetizing. I must say the caesar salad and flour less chocolate cake were outstanding. The service was also great!
Our food selections (red peppers bisque, beet terrine/salad, salmon, artichoke pasta) were outstanding and delivered piping hot as usual and our bottle of Picpoul de Pinet was priced reasonably relative to retail. All went well until the bill arrived. My pasta was priced at $17 on the menu but the charge showed up as $25. And my husband's entree charge was $1 more than indicated on the menu. It took 3 times to get all this resolved with the manager visiting our table and apologizing profusely. We feel that it is the server's responsibility to review each check for accuracy prior to presenting it to customers. This clearly did not happen or the problem would have been resolved the first time we pointed out the issue. While the monetary impact was not material, it is not too much to ask that restaurants bill their patrons for the prices advertised on the menu. Because we have always enjoyed dining at Eleven South, we will be back. But our advice is to check your bill before paying -- at Eleven South and elsewhere.
We had the Burrate appetizer and shared the wedge salad. Both were declicious. I had the grouper oscar entree and my date had the "special" Wagyu steak medium rare. The steak was mediocre, but the grouper was amazing. I would def recommend this place. Small, intimate, great service.
My wife and I dined on NYE. We had the middle seating around 7:00. We were prepared for the food and service to be a little off due to the high demand for the occasion. However, we could not have been more pleased. These guys are pros and they showed it that night.
First Time here since moving to The Beach almost 5 years ago. Don’t know how we never knew about this place but we finally heard and made a same day reservation. Overall a very nice experience not found at many places around here. Food was excellent and service and ambiance too. Highly recommended
Great, personalized service. Made us feel like we were special. Food was delicious and arrived in appropriate and timely manner. Staff and managers were incredibly thoughtful and attentive.enjoyed a true dining experience.
This is my neighborhood go to spot when I want someplace nicer than regular dining out in the more expensive price range. Staff has been at the same location for a long time and recognize you as a repeat customer.
Food is always outstanding and seasonal. They will cook for your specifics, avoiding allergy issues, etc.
Bar is a nice place to gather and eating at the bar if you choose. Extensive wine list and full bar.
This is my favorite restaurant at the beach. Depending on where you are seated the noise level can be painful. All it takes is one or two loud patrons to destroy your dining experience. I will never go back there on a weekend unless I have a table outside. They really need to address the noise issue.
My wife and I celebrate our birthdays in December with a dinner out and this year we wisely chose Eleven South. We had a fantastic dining experience over the nearly three hours that we were there. We arrived shortly before our reservation time of 6:30. The hostess had our OpenTable reservation and our table was ready. Our daughter had arranged for a bottle of champagne and it was already chilling at the table when we were seated.
Our waitress, Gina, was among the very best who’s ever taken care of us at a fine dining establishment. She knew the menu, including the evening’s specials, and after listening to our likes and dislikes offered expert recommendations for each course. Gina answered every question with detailed yet understandable descriptions of the dining options we wanted to consider. She accurately paced the meal consistent with food preparation and our pace of dining. We were neither rushed nor neglected and Gina was extraordinarily attentive without being intrusive. Gina absolutely “made” the evening truly special for my wife and me.
Our meals were delicious. Preparation showed artful attention to detail. Presentation and plating were attractive and enticing. Each course was delivered to the table at the proper temperature and had been freshly prepared. Flavors were extraordinary. Portion size is secondary to preparation and flavor, but we each finished our meal satisfied without feeling stuffed. Dessert, coffee and a bourbon digestif completed the evening’s experience with flair.
Complimentary valet parking was convenient and the attendant was welcoming on our arrival and expedient on our departure.
Previously, our local “go to” restaurant for special occasions at this price point had been Marker 32, and that is still a very good choice. But I think we will be returning to Eleven South again soon and for now, Eleven South will be our choice for special occasion dining in Jacksonville. We will certainly ask for Gina’s table again also.
Eleven South Bistro is one of or maybe the best/favorite resturand on east coast.. Great resturants in NYC & Baltimore Md but none are better than this resturant.. It is managed VERY well.. Thats easy to see by the minium turn over of staff.. I have been several times and will not go to another resturant unless my guest insist on their favorite.. For Biz its the best..
My wife had a perfectly prepared excellent tenderloin. I should’ve ordered the same thing. I ordered a goat cheese chicken Soltim boca which was not as described on the menu. The second item in the description was smoke prosciutto I couldn’t find any. And it was served In what I call a cereal bowl butwhich made near imposible to cut the semi tough piece of chicken. I stopped trying and left about 80% of it.
Thanksgiving day at 5 PM. The restaurant was mobbed. It was me and my wife and we were seated in a room off the main dining area and packed in with what felt like inches between us and the next table. We couldn't have a conversation without our neighboring table being a part of it. There was a very loud party in the main dining area that dominated the entire restaurant. Don't get me wrong, the food was great and I've eaten here before and it is consistently good. It just wan't a relaxing experience and we were very uncomfortable.
