Fancy though it may be, Eleven Madison Park is surprisingly lively. But make no mistake, this is fine dining at its most serious.
Its been about 3 years since I dined at Eleven Madison. Everything is spot on-- even above and beyond the spot on service you typically receive at the nicer restaurants in Manhattan. From greeting to drinks, service and food everything was seamless. The menu (when we dined) was that you choose several foods and the chef prepares dishes based on your likes/dislikes. This set up may have changed, not sure. As if I needed another treat for the evening, I was able to take a tour of the kitchen!! Was delightful to see, even as a guest. I would have loved to have a stool and sit in the corner and watch the magic. All in all, if you love well prepared/respected food in an environment that augments the total experience you will not want to miss Eleven Madison. Book months in advance, its well worth it.
As many other foodies. if given a chance to experience the #1 restaurant in the world. you do it!. that said I've been to other Awesome stared Michelin restaurants, and this one was just a disappointment. big expectations, absolutely no delivery. All name, food didn't back it up!.
First of all please understand that at no point would I call this a "bad" restaurant, the food is fancy enough, showy enough, and what I do believe they excel in (the service) is good enough. but kept on feeling cheated almost, as in if I was experiencing a restaurant that got to the top, and just gave up. I would even doubt that the head chef was at the helm that night, there was so many letdowns... the biggest being the food (sadly) it was just salt topped with more salt...even the bread and the ice cream were sprinkled with the stuff!.. no balance of sweet, acid, of anything else to give you a break from the salt!
At the end for $700+ I was expecting an experience what I got was a tired old NY restaurant with great service, but with food that didn't keep up... for a dinner for two... this was not close to worth it. $50 a plate I would be closer... I would say Alinea in Chicago is closer to what you would expect the Number one restaurant in the world to be... = (
Vastly over-rated I'm afraid. If you want a truly fine dining experience go to Per Se. Failing that Daniel or Jean George. On a recent tour of New England, Canada and New York we would not put 11 Madison in our top 10.

Celebration for 20 years of friendship and special occasion for my best friend and his wife. Food were amazing, and dining experience is unforgettable!
We came here for our 7 year anniversary for a Sunday lunch. It was really quiet so we were lucky to tour the kitchen during our meal. Service was impeccable and food was definitely top notch. Service charge is included in the meal price which makes things easy and it is prepaid upon making the booking so all you have to worry about is the drinks you have on the day/night. Never did we feel the staff were pretentious, something that we've noticed in #1 rated restaurants in countries around the world and kudos for making everyone feel welcome. I know they have a no jeans policy but when we were there, there were a few men that wore jeans. I think so long as it's not the street wear / ripped type then you should be okay, but hey, why not dress up a little seeing as you're in one of the best restaurants in the world! They also gave us two jars of granola to take home and our personalised menu. Would recommend and I am planning on returning for another anniversary!
There are excellent dish and evironment at there. My favorite dish are sea bass and goat cheese with melon.
I'm still thinking about the experience and the food I had there. The food of course was top notch but it was really the little details. I would say more but I don't want to ruin the surprises they have in store for the customer. Just go and enjoy it.
The service was amazing. The employees went out of their way to accommodate everybody. Our water glasses were always full. If someone wanted to get up or sit down, someone would rush to the table to move the seat. Amazing! They were very accommodating to my many food allergies. There was always an alternative dish or option if I couldn't eat what was already planned. Absolutely wonderful and worth it.
I Never Seen so ugly plates in a House with 3 Michelin Stars !

Everything here was memorable. The Front of house team were spectacular. Timing by the wait staff and kitchen was impeccable. I shall return on my next trip to NYC!
Best in New York. Uses local ingredients, creative, and tastes great. No strange fusion like other venues. For great Japanese/sushi go to Japan, for great French go to France. When someone wants creative New York American food, EMP is the place.

Another 3 Michelin Star restaurant that disappoints. Temperature in the restaurant too cold and unpleasant. Ambience lacking due to the size of the room. Sommelier excellent and fun. Food disappointing given the hype. Too much salt...why do I need salt on my melon or plum dessert?! Having told the staff beforehand that one of our party needed a low fat diet we should not have needed to reiterate this requirement on arrival. Four hours for eight courses was not leisurely but slow. We had sixteen courses at the Fat Duck in six hours which was perfect and remains for me the best restaurant in the world. After Alain Ducasse and The Waterside I'm staring to lose faith in the Michelin star ratings.
PROs: Best "experience dining" in the city which is unique and fun. Save appetite for the end. Loved the cantaloupe, cavier with picnic basket. Get a pic outside the restaurant.

Amazing service, amazing staff, amazing food, amazing quality! We had the most incredible experience here, starting from days before when our reservation was confirmed, all the way to the conclusion of the meal and the special surprises they did for my birthday. We will be back!
We wanted to find out if 11 Madison is really the best. Our server was extraordinary and certainly the dining room is very art deco. We did not love all of the courses; the thought behind some did not meet with the actuality. The name and the fame of course means that it is very expensive.

Dining at Eleven Madison Park can only be described as amazing. There was great attention to detail. The food was like art on a plate and each course took us on a journey. The only disappointment was finding a hair in the cheese platter. The plate was removed and replaced quickly, however with the price you pay, you expect perfection.
Food was above average, however considering the $295 p.p. we were not impressed at all.

All the excitement my husband and I had built up over the past weeks after scoring a booking at the world's number 3 restaurant quickly fizzled out early on in the night. I felt so disappointed afterwards I would strongly recommend against dining at this restaurant.
To be brief about the food, average. The appetisers repeated an ingredient so 2/4 appetisers were cucumber based. The dishes that followed also had repetition where you could guarantee that there would be something pickled on your plate and there would be corn and tomatoes. We opted for the lobster boil dish and were dumbfounded once we were served the seafood that the broth where all the seafood flavour was wasn't severed at all. For a menu that consisted of few dishes containing protein, they all felt similar and didn't give any indication or distinction of how this menu was from a top Michelin restaurant.
The staff constantly made mistakes such as serving the choices of dishes to the wrong person so we'd have to switch our plates ourselves (which happened not once but 3 times), trying to clear our plates even though we were clearly not finished, taking away our empty wine glasses even though they should be refilling them and we had to tell them that we had a bottle which they should already know. The level of service of this three Michelin starred place does not compare to other fine dining restaurants which added to the ruined experience. We were also seated in the far back corner at the entrance of the kitchen and service area and witnessed the hustle, bustle and constant stream of staff who frequently bumped into each other and were a distracting chaotic mess that took away from the ambience of the restaurant.
Overall, our experience is not one that I'd like to remember. I've had better experiences at other restaurants in the same price category and so I walked out feeling disappointed and like I've wasted my money as I could of had that type of food and level or service somewhere cheaper.
It's worth the expense, but keep in mind that the menu is comprised of multiple dishes so you will be spending at minimum of 3 hrs enjoying them as they are prepared. Even when you hear the name of a particular ingredient that might not be of your preference, trust me, the flavor somehow has a way to blend in with the rest to create something that just melts in your mouth. Don't be afraid of using your fingers and don't let the small looking dishes make you think that you won't get full as there's so many more to come as the night goes by. This place does not accept gratuities however, the attention is exceptional.

This was the best meal I have ever had in my life and it's not even close. For a 3 Michelin Star restaurant, EMP does the one thing I haven't seen at others: keeps it fun.
Overrated, ridiculously over priced, a good experience but you can get better at half the price else where.
It is hard to recommend a restaurant this expensive to friends and to categorize it as a “value” is even harder, but Eleven Madison Park is an ABSOLUTE value for the money. My wife and I recently spent a week in NYC and ate at three 3 star Michelin restaurants. EMP was by far the best. The food was incredible, and the presentation was clever, and imaginative. Some dishes were presented in picnic baskets, others in multi level boxes, but the finishing touch was that after our meal my wife and I were escorted into the kitchen and given hand shaved black cherry-pomegranate snow cones. The food was excellent, the wine was excellent, the service was excellent, but the overall experience was…what’s better than excellent?
