Eleve Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Food was great, service was ok. But here's the thing - Four of us orderd one entree each and we shared two appetizers and there was literally not enough room on the tiny table for the giant plates they use. Not that the giant plates were covered with food, no they just put a little bit of food on these ridulously large plates. I literally had to sit with a plate in my lap until we could clear off enough food from other plates and combine items and then flag a waiter down to take a plate away so we could actually eat a peaceful meal. We were so looking forward to an evening out with friends and without the kids and the bill was $150 and this was a major disappointment. Probably would have been a very nice place for two people. Bummer for us though.
The food here was fantastic! We enjoyed the beef carpaccio, which was very refreshing, the Wok Tossed Steak, which was fairly peppery and spicy with great green beans, Pork Firepot, which I had to save the broth to take home - a bit salty, but that's because we didn't eat it over rice, and the braised eggplant, which luckily wasn't spicy at all since it said it came with spicy plum sauce. I would recommend this place for the food and drinks (Moscow Mule).
Food is very good but a tad on the pricey side for what you get. Small portions and a la carte starches. Went there with a party of 5 for my bday. Bill was over $400 and didn't even get a free dessert, or anything for that matter, for my bday. A little disappointing.
I tried Eleve with 2 other couples based on a Travelzoo email offer. The food and service had both been touted as award winning and the menu seemed interesting. Had I not been looking for this place, I probably would have missed it as it's close to the Civic Center and the Walnut Creek on Ice seasonal rink and not anywhere near the main street dining options. We arrived and there was no one at the hostess desk. We were seated promptly and presented with menus. The pre-paid voucher from TravelZoo noted that it needed to be presented to the waitstaff while ordering and I followed that direction. I'm not sure if this is what attributed to our poor service (waitress assumed we were there for the special rates only) or whether the place is just short staffed. Regardless, we hardly saw our waitress throughout the rest of the evening. The appetizers we ordered seemed to take forever and while we waited and enjoyed our cocktails (very good I might add), the waitress returned to pressure us to order our entrees. How can I order my meal if I haven't even received my appetizers yet? I was planning on a relaxed evening with friends but felt very rushed by the need to order. I certainly didn't want the appetizers and entrees arriving at the same time.
As for the food itself, I would say it is good. We ordered the vegetable and standard potstickers, meatballs, and reisling shrimp. The portions are small so each of the 6 of us barely got a bite to taste. Considering how long it took to get the order, we were not satisfied with the appetizers portions at all. For entrees, we ordered steak and green bean stir fry, garlic noodles, chicken curry, and the eggplant vegetable. Everything was good, although the chicken curry and eggplant dish probably were the best. The meat in the steak dish was plentiful but my husband felt that the chicken in the curry was sorely lacking and he was fishing around for the few morsels. Not many dessert options so we ended up at La Scala instead.
Greeted and seated immediately
Very attentive waiter
Ecleric, interesting cocktail menus, well executed and very good
Very good flavors
This restaurant met every expection. Since its in Walnut Creek, parking can be a challenge but we found 2 hour metered parking spot nearby.
We have been here many times and always had excellent service. However there was a new server and she was rude and terrible. Additionally there are only 3 desserts on the menu. After we ordered one if the desserts she came back and told us it was unavailable. 1 of 3, really?? Will not go back. Shame as this used to be a favorite place.
3 old friends met at Eleve. Our server was friendly and helpful. We were not in a hurry, so the service was slow. Not sure if that is typical, or if our server was just giving us space. If you are on a time frame, I would recommend informing your server up front. We ordered the following items, and I would recommend every single one of them: Shrimp Spring Roll, Edemame, Cubed Filet Mignon, garlic noodle, braised eggplant and brussel sprouts. Cocktails were generous and well made. It is noisy in this restaurant, but we enjoyed the lively atmosphere. I recommend Eleve. Allow AMPLE time to find a place to park in Walnut Creek!!
My friend and I went to Eleve for my birthday before a show at the Lesher. I had forgotten that she cannot eat spicy food so her choices were pretty limited. I had a delicious shrimp and eggplant dish with just the right amount of hot. My friend was able to find a pork dish that wasn't too spicy for her. The restaurant really filled up and it was a vibrant fun place to be. We could still hear each other talk.
I wonder why the happy hour prices are not offered at tables (have to sit at the bar). I would like to see that changed.
It was our first time to Eleve and I called prior to coming to be sure that they did not use MSG as I have a severe allergy to it. They assured me that there were items on the menu without this ingredient, so we kept our reservation. After we got there, we were told that the chef used MSG in everything as the sauces all had it in them. I was very disappointed and as we were about to leave, the waitress came back and had spoken to the chef who agreed to make me something t without MSG. I was very grateful that they were willing to be of such service to our party. I tasted a tiny bit of my friend's meal and it was delicious. So was my prawn dish that they had made specially for me. In the end, it was a nice fit, but these days, I am surprised that a restaurant as fine as Eleve still uses MSG as the food can be just as tasty without.
Reasonably priced for small plates but more eonomical to order a dinner. They are more like "small bites" than "plates." Okay to try one time, however our party of 6 all agreed not worth returning to try again. One drink per person, two small plates and a couple of vegetable plates came to over $300.00.
My wife and I had heard great things from friends and web and couldn't wait to celebrate her birthday at this hot spot. That said, we were disappointed when we waited twenty minutes for a member of the wait staff to acknowledge us. Ultimately, I had to get up from my table, go to the bar and order our drinks from Pedro...the star of the restaurant. After that unfortunate start, the evening was outstanding! The food was wonderful, the ambiance vibrant, and the cocktails were delicious and unique. Overall, a terrific experience...recommend you check it out!
Our Saturday evening dining experience was mixed as the food was delicious but the service terrible. It took a long time for our waitress to come to our table and then each of the dishes arrived at different times so that we were all eating at different times! We may not return as it was a strange evening.
We love Eleve! The food is delicious. We have so many favorites: the spring rolls, carpaccio, cubed beef, clay pot, prawns with eggplant. All delicious! This is my go-to spot for lunch, because it's not too noisy. And the artisan handcrafted cocktails are amazing, so this is one of our favorite places to go for a drink, too. The outdoor patio is lovely. And they have room upstairs for parties.
I have been to Eleve many times and am always happy with the dining experience there. My last visit was especially good because our server, Rachel, was so patient, attentive, and willing to make the experience a great and satisfying one. My friend is a strict vegan and sometimes has some difficulty finding acceptable dishes and/or having her preferences accomodated at restaurants around town. Rachel patiently made sure everything was to her satisfaction.
Once again, Eleve lived up to my expectations with their fresh ingredients and unique dishes! My husband and I went there for our anniversary dinner and everything from the argula/mango/carrot salad to the frozen smores for dessert was amazing. I highly recommend the pork firepot. You mix the boiled egg into the broth and pork and it so delicious and different. We also had the prawn eggplant stirfry which was also wonderful.
I took my friend to Eleve to celebrate her birthday. The bartender made a great, tart cosmopolitian. The food was tasty. We started with the shrimp roll and papaya salad, both good. I particularly liked the prawn and eggplant dish, but the chicken in curry sauce was also well seasoned. Since, it was a Tuesday evening, it was pretty quiet. The server was very friendly and accommodating.
I met my girlfriend there for dinner on a Tuesday night. The restaurant is conveniently located in downtown Walnut Creek. It is a very stylish and contemporary. That said, we had 2 drinks each which were ridiculously priced. My Tito's vodka martini was $19 which is more than the cost of an entire bottle. We had 2 drinks each, 2 appetizers and 1 main course. The total with tip was $157. I will not be going back to this restaurant unless I hear that they address the stupid cost of drinks.
