Elevation, a student operated restaurant at Cascade Culinary Institute (CCI), uniquely engages community diners as an integral part of the student learning experience. The Elevation menu, which changes four times per year, boasts of high quality ingredients that are sourced from regional growers, ranchers and producers. Patrons who dine in a "live classroom environment," are provided with an opportunity to offer feedback via a survey at the conclusion of the dining experience. Guest input is then integrated into the instructional process on a weekly basis in order to enhance the student learning process. As part of the CCI Capstone Course, learning outcomes within Elevation associate with students developing confidence in cooking and service techniques and developing effective communication and teamwork skills prior to their transition into the regional hospitality industry workforce as future leaders and innovators.

Two couples went out to local venue for an interesting and relaxed dinner. We all choose the steak entrée as it was that or duck which none of us care for or some seafood Newberg which did not smell good. This is a training dinner for the culinary school and is a relaxed experience seeing how the trainees go about all this.
As always, we were served a wonderful meal at Elevation! Mason, our server, was very attentive. We always feel like special guests whenever we dine here. This is the second time I've had the duck, and I would highly recommend it! Splurge and try their chocolate dessert...yum!
The space was wellcoming and the staff very attentive through out the evening. We were a party of 6 and all the dishes came out at the same time. The Seafood Newberg was the favourite and we enjoyed tasting such a good variety of dishes. The steak ordered rare was not hot throughout but they took care of that right away. The 2 Birthdays at our table were recognized with a special dessert plate for each. Overall a pleasant experience.
Elevation restaurant is part of the Cascade Culinary Institute, with a mission to train students to become skilled cooks, servers, etc. On some days you might have a server who has mastered his job; on other days one who is still a work in progress. Either way, you can be sure that they are trying their best and are well-supervised. The food is excellent in every way, servers are attentive and eager to please, the atmosphere is warm and inviting and the prices are quite reasonable. Overall, a great place to dine out.
Most of the food choices were quite good, with only few exceptions. Service was prompt and friendly, if a little unprofessional. My biggest complaint was the high cost. I am not a big spender and don't do these special outings often, but I would be willing to guess that I could dine at nearly any place in town and get a nice dinner for 2 for less then $75 (which was my bill here). Charging for each item is certainly not the way I would run the business and considering it is a school where is that high price coming from. We did enjoy our evening and the atmosphere and staff were fine.

Food was very good, but served cold. I would of like the green beans better with less breading and different dipping sauce.
Since this is a teaching experience, server needs improvement with observing customers and observing customers request. Example requested lemon for my drink, 2 lemon slices were served, did not notice that the skin on one of the slices had not been completely clean. Used other slice of lemon. But when drink was refilled lemon was not offered again. We had to ask for water and ice.
Server was professional, friendly and polite. I thought he was probably a little nervous, and since school just restarted. We all have to learn.

This was our second time to visit Elevation and we were very impressed both times. The server was knowledgeable, considerate and pleasant. We had 4 different meals and all were delicious and the presentation was great. We also thoroughly enjoyed 3 wonderful deserts. We will definitely go again and would be happy to recommend Elevation.
Elevation is a culinary college affair and therefore the service will vary from so-so to excellent (they are students). This evening was about average for service. The food generally varies from good to very good and occasionally excellent and our 4 dinners were all at least very good. The ambience can't be beat; a beautiful restaurant, uncrowded seating, and very quiet. This venue is always on our list of possible eating out choices.
Our appetizers were amazing! Had the duck confit salad and the tomatillo soup... 5 stars on that. Our server wasn't very attentive and I felt like we were waiting a lot before getting service. When we had our check ready I think it took 15 min before she came to take it, at least it felt like that. Our entrees were not as good as last time we came. We got the duck which was cooked well but the side dish looked unappetizing and was tasteless. It was white beans, dried papaya? And Brussel sprouts so it looked just blah cuz the Brussels were white looking and with white beans and the chopped yellow dried fruit. The risotto was asparagus and artichoke. Veggies good, risotto maybe undercooked a little and dry. Flavored of lemon and pepper, but needed some salt. I ate all the risotto and just added a lot of salt. The brioche rolls were amazing!!
Because this is a learning environment for the college, not everyone is polished and seasoned. That being said, the students do their best to create an inviting, friendly and professional atmosphere. Be prepared to critique the meal and staff (at the end of the evening) to help the students learn! This is not fast food, so be prepared to relax and spend some time in the restaurant (order an appetizer - they are excellent!) It was a great experience and the food was wonderful!
My wife took me there for my birthday. We enjoyed the scallop appetizer. They were perfectly cooked but there could have been more than 2. My wife had the lamb chop with mint pesto and fresh asparagus. She thought it was excellent. I had the rib eye steak. It was a nice piece of meat and cooked medium rare as requested but the rub completely overpowered the steak. All you could taste was the spice. It was accompanied by wilted greens and a few fingerling potatoes.
We split the strawberry rhubarb tart for dessert. It was delish! We will certainly go back and love to support our local culinary school!
This is the restaurant associated with the culinary institute at COCC. All of the dishes were perfectly prepared -- simple dishes, but the halibut was melt-in-your-mouth perfect, and the evening's special (ahi tuna) was seared so that the inside was just a little warm. Our server was lovely -- enthusiastic, excited to be embarking on a new career. We had not made it there earlier because the days hadn't worked for us. But I think we'll make a point of going pretty regularly from now on!
This is the best restaurant in Bend -- and I'm a foodie who does my homework!
Each bite makes me want to close my eyes so I can savor every nuance. Plus I'm surrounded by an elegant atmosphere and attended by impeccable service! Can't say enough good things about this place. Suggestion: dine with a group so you can taste everything!
We brought a young friend from out of town. We could easily carry on a conversation. The service was prompt and friendly. While the menu is somewhat limited the food is first class. Lovely linen table cloth and napkins. Nice selection of wine although limited. We will definitely go back.
We were greeted by a friendly and professional staff (culinary arts students). Our server Stan was very charming and had great suggestions on what to eat. The rack of lamb was delicious and presented beautifully. After dinner be sure to stroll around the halls of the culinary school and see the what goes on behind the scenes.
I was very impressed with this restaurant. I had heard about it first when my husband went to the bobcat orientation at COCC when we first moved here and I met some of the people at the culinary club booth. I saw the restaurant advertised and kept it in the back of my mind that I wanted to try it out. It took two years, but finally did it for a late valentine's day dinner.
We were greeted by a man who looked to be very experienced and he told us a little bit about the restaurant, that the food was cooked by students in their last part of the culinary school. He then turned us over to a waiter named Sam. One of the requests I had asked was for vegan options, and Sam gave me a very detailed account of all the options available. He was very attentive and helpful, and really the best service I've ever had in Bend. We started with a salad, and had the lamb and risotto entrees as well as a chocolate cake for dessert. All of the food had impeccable flavors and was cooked perfectly. My husband chose to have his lamb medium rare, and it was perfect. Usually when we go to a lower end restaurant he will choose medium because they don't cook the meat well, but he must have sensed it would be done accurately here, because he went with medium rare and he said it was cooked to perfection. I thoroughly enjoyed the risotto, which they made vegan for me. The flavors were amazing, and I savored every bite. Still creamy and tender without the dairy. Dessert was beautifully presented and we ate every bit of it as well.
To anyone who is looking for a high class restaurant with good service, I would highly recommend this place. Unfortunately, one of the downsides to living in Bend is the terrible service at most food places. Here you will not be disappointed, and this is quite a statement, since I most recently lived right next to the Culinary Institute of America, where all the surrounding restaurants had amazing food and excellent service.
