Elements On Level One Ratings and Reviews
My review pertains to dinner. We ordered the "beet salad" which was supposed to come with gold and red beets for $11. We got a plate of curly kale, with 4 small pieces of a red beet, that may or may not have added up to one whole beet. I reported this to the waiter who just said, "I guess they ran out of yellow beets," and did not offer to adjust our bill or provide an alternative. $11 is a lot for a plate of curly kale. I also asked for a side order of bread but was told they don't have any bread in the restaurant. I told him I wanted the lamb pink in the middle, not red, and he told me that was medium rare. (I always specify color instead of a term like this since different people have different interpretations of doneness terms.) The lamb I was given was red. To his credit, he did take it back and it came out pink. But again there was not a lot of lamb on that plate for the price, the sweet potatoes were mushy. I can't remember the vegetables.
On the positive side, I have to compliment the waiter we had for breakfast. He was attentive and accommodating, even thanked us by name after we signed out bill. The buffet is a little pricey at $20, and the bread products are of mediocre quality, but the omelettes were good. Fruit selection can be improved, it's mostly melon.
Waiter was very accommodating and very nice. We needed to eat fast and he was able to rush our food. Bread was great. The beet salad was very good with nice balance of flavors. The flounder was good, but not amazing. The salmon was extremely dry and super salty (and I love salt). My water was empty for 10-15 min before it was refilled. Even if we were staying at the hotel, I'm not sure we would eat here again.
Great for a business lunch-service was quick and efficient, and the food surprisingly good. I have the tomato soup which had a nice little kick to it, and the grilled fish sandwich which was actually very delicious. Good location, quick in and out parking lot of the hotel.
I was surprised to be the only ones sitting down in the restaurant... Even more so after dining there. The service was excellent, the food was utterly delicious, and the meal - while slightly pricey - was not unjustly priced. We got the shrimp and grit fritters, the lamb shanks, the day boat scallops, and for dessert, 'Fire' which was a small but decadent chocolate lava cake topped with various things that just added to the overall flavor. I would visit this place again
This was a mediocre experience. The staff were very friendly and attentive, but the place clearly is having management issues. My lamb was undercooked, so I sent it back. When it came back, it tasted rancid, and was far too fatty.
The chef did a great job of making the steak I ordered instead, but the point was to get a good meal and go to bed.
Overall, the menu is passable, the wine list basic, the location uninspiring.
Food was satisfying -- except for the lackluster caesar salad -- and a little spendy. The drinks strong Wine list is UNINSPIRED, the usual corporate wine list suspects. No finds, no values, nothing interesting whatsoever. Jaime, our bartender, is easygoing and friendly. No hurries, no worries (on his part). Seating is limited to a dozen seats at the bar and some haphazardly arranged high-stool tables in the lobby/atrium. No booths, no sense of a dining space at all. Your view is the door to the business center.
If you're stuck out here in the exurbs and don't want to commute to your next meal, this will do the trick.
Best hotel bar and restaurant in the area. Service was a bit on the slow side, but not so much that it was a problem. Consistently good food, they could definitely use a refresh of beer selection; a few local craft beers on tap would be awesome. Manager bent over backwards to try and help us use an open table gift card, which I found out the next day isn't something this place even accepts.
Food was very good (Lamb/Seafood polenta). Portion size was small.
Restaurant was open to hotel lobby and bar. It was not too busy, so not overall very noisy, but not amenable to romantic dining or other.
Definitely recommend if staying in Hyatt or another surrounding hotel.
I needed a place last minute for Valentine's day. Saw on opentable that this place has an opening. I ordered the burger and it was perfect! I had stayed in the hotel previously for a function my church had. But never ate at the resturant......not sure why I didnt? But I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Thank you opentable for this service you provide it is wonderful!!
A friend and I decided to go out for Thanksgiving dinner at the last minute. Elements is nearby and had availability at 5 PM, their last seating. Elements is located inside the Dulles Hyatt, and is a nice hotel restaurant. It was not crowded, and a mix of quiet families and couples. Relaxing atmosphere. The buffet, which included turkey and appropriate Thanksgiving fixings, prime rib, pork, fish, salads, sides, soup, and desserts, was supposed to be the only offering. I asked the server if we could order from the menu, and he was kind enough to consult with the chef. Because it was the the last seating, the chef was agreeable to our ordering not only from the regular menu, but the bar menu as we'll. Although we did decide on the buffet, it was nice that Elements was so accommodating. Turkey was moist; prime rib was just right- no overcooking. Service was excellent. Although I wouldn't have thought of Elemnts right off the bat, I was pleased with our experience.
Most of the food was good but the selection of foods was sparse for a Thanksgiving buffet.The turkey, stuffing, and mac & cheese were very good. The fish was not good. The shrimp were soggy. Only one of the desserts, the pecan pie, was very good.. The waiter was very nice and available. There were only about 4 or 5 tables of guests when we were there. I would not return there for another meal.
The buffet you served on Thanksgiving was wonderful. We expected delicious turkey with all the trimmings, but to have the choice of prime rib, pork, or fish was very much appreciated for those of us who like options. The salads, sides, & desserts were all excellent, and the service was great. Our waitress's name was Lina, and she was delightful! She was very friendly, sweet, & attentive to our needs. This was the first time we dined out for Thanksgiving, because we usually gather our very large family together in one of our homes. That was not an option this year, so I really appreciated having a nice place to go with just our small group of three.
We would definitely recommend Elements to our friends.
I wanted to check out this restaurant for a while to see how good it was. The food was good but I wasnt too impressed. The restaurant is in the Hyatt. There really isnt a separation between the bar sitting area and the restaurant..... They should consider a glass partition or something. Maybe there was more to the restaurant that we didnt see? The host stand wasnt manned but we didnt have to wait long. I ordered the filet mignon med rare, It was medium. stuffed portebello mushroom was good. I didnt realize it was fried as menu didnt mention it. I should have asked. I'm not sure i'd return.
The service was incredibly poor. I felt like we were being rushed out of there. The waiter kept bringing the bill when we wanted to order desert and coffee. The meal was poor quality. When I asked to get a dish without a sauce I was told no exceptions were ever made. I could not even get salad dressing on the side!
I would never return or recommend this place.
Wifey and I don't normally go out for Valentines day. This year we did. Went here, and basically, there's nothing special about this normal hotel restaurant and bar. I especially don't think the $100 that we spent was worth it. I could go to Outback and spend $60 on better food.
We had brunch here following a wedding at the hotel. We expected blah hotel food and were pleasantly startled by the made-to-order eggs, wide selection of breakfast meats, lox bar and pastry selections. The fresh squeezed orange juice was another stunner. The service was attentive and friendly. Everyone was dedicated to helping us enjoy our meal.
Food was very good. Would have been outstanding, but the prime rib was overcooked and tough, but I guess it was turkey time. Also, we had to ask for whip cream for the pumpkin pie. The service was outstanding. Overall, a very nice experience and we would do it again.

This restaurant is definitey the exception. Great healthy menu called "create your own"
Chose your protein, it's size, how it's prepared, sauce and choice of sides. Food and service was excellent.
I thought I give it a try since it is close to where I live and you get 1000 open table points. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. In other countries, hotel restaurants (like airline travel) is a luxury item. In America, everything has been commoditized. Elements on Level One is a great disappointment. For a $100 meal, the food tasted poorly. Ahi Tuna was bland and pale. My steak was ordinary. Truffle fries didn't have enough truffle oil. Truffle stuffed mushroom was way too salty (glad I didn't stroke out afterwards). My daughter's spaghetti and meatball was the worst I have tasted. The only ok dish was the caesar salad. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.
My wife and I typically dine out the evening prior to an international flight, and tonight we chose Elements on Level One, based on the reviews. I love lamb chops, and my wife likes ribeye steaks, so those were our choices. Without question, the lamb chops were the best I ever had in my entire life! They were accompanied with special grits and chopped tomatoes, also great tasting. My wife said that her ribeye was also excellent. We finished with a cappuccino, bread pudding and cheese cake. What a great find, prior to eating subtle airline fare.
Food was ok - Ordered the Ahi Tuna but it came back pink in the middle that was good but it was entirely too dry - should have more umph to the meal. Husband's dinner looked ok which he said tasted ok. It is in a hotel lobby but no big deal, however, there wasn't any one there to seat us - had to get the bartender's attention and he didn't know how to check us in via Open Table. Had to wait for the manager, which wasn't long because she was on her way over, reckon she saw us. Would I go back, probably not unless I was staying at the hotel.
The restaurant is in a hotel lobby, not ideal. While the food was good, the place was empty on a Saturday evening. The bartender doubled as our waitress and was not very knowledgeable about the menu, but was very polite. Had I know this was in a hotel lobby, I would have never visited. The ambience is just all wrong.
