elements on hollis
Our only complaint was we were not told it ended at 10:30 or we would have gone earlier. Jose was a hit with us again this year. Love this man. Food was lovely and loads of it. Again Jose was perfect.
We were looking for a quiet place to catch up with some family we hadn’t seen in a while, and Elements definitely fit the bill. It was almost deserted on a Thursday evening, which worked well for us, but it was a little strange to be the only people there other than a handful of other tables throughout the evening. The room was freezing cold and had an odd “perfumed” smell that reminded me of some of the casinos in Las Vegas (which isn’t a compliment). Our server was great, and she worked hard to take good care of us, but the food was just average and unremarkable.
Shame on me. Their website does not show it is a restaurant in a hotel. The online menu was not the menu we were given. My wife’s Salmon on her salad was embarrassing. Too many good places to eat in this town to waste time at Elements.
My husband and I went for Sunday Brunch. The food was delicious with a wide variety of options, from omelettes and waffles to salads, seafood, and roast beef . The roast beef and butter chicken were my favorites. There was a gentleman in the buffet area singing and playing guitar and he was so talented and it was a nice relaxing touch. Sarah was our server and she was very friendly and looked after us well. Would highly recommend the Sunday Brunch.
No, because it was not open for the day you reserved it, Monday August 5th.
After booking a business lunch reservation on-line we arrived to be told that the restaurant was closed over lunch time. The sign behind the hostess stated the lunch hours and we booked a time on-line. The situation was poorly dealt with. We were told "I know it sucks and needs to be fixed but oh well". We were directed to a small poorly adequate bar down the hall to eat. The menu was missing some of the items we had wished to order and it was not the experience we had looked for during this business lunch. I would not recommend this establishment for any important meals since it is so unreliable. Our office is very close to this restaurant and I will tell everyone to ovoid Elements.
We were honestly so disappointed from every aspect of our experience. From waiting more than 30minutes for our (very simple) food, to having the order come out wrong (worst part - they knew they couldn't provide part of the meal and never thought to come back out and see if this was acceptable) to then having the meal they brought out 100% cold. Not warm or even a tiny bit warm, completely COLD.
I was extremely upset by this point and left for our car while my husband took care of the bill. Obviously no one in their right mind is going to pay for something they didn't ask for that was stone cold, and also wasn't eaten (minus the one bite to find out it was ice cold). Although they took that meal off the bill, I found their lack of empathy to the situation and nonchalant approach to handling the issue also extremely disappointing. Unfortunately, I will not be returning or recommending this place to anyone.
Decor was very tired. Ambience blasé.
Waitress was pleasant and friendly but never inquired about our satisfaction. Food was not good. Hollandaise sauce curdled on the Eggs Benedict. Muffins hard and crusty. Side of potatoes dried and tasteless. Tomato equally bad. In fact both sides looked (and tasted) like they were warmed over from day before.
Would not return.
We went for burger week burgers! They were delicious!
We went for burger week - great, fun and tasty burger - and loved that the chef came out to the table to see how everything was. Comfortable, un-stuffy dining space.
The scallop appetizer is incredible and the farmer's salad was delicious and fresh. Loved adobo duck! Chef Anne Novo is kicking butt at Elements. Will be back.
Great service, staff and food. Would definitely go there again.
Nowhere was it advertised when I booked that the breakfast buffet stops at 11. And brunch starts at noon. So, although the buffet was out entire intention for choosing Elements, we had an option of only a few things on the menu.
When my displeasure was brought to the attention of the manager, I received nothing except attitude. This woman should not be in customer service. At least the waiter tried to make it better by suggesting we wait until noon and they would give us the breakfast buffet price. For which, I think he was reprimanded.
Food was fine, but when you have a specific expectation and it is not met, it's hard to get past that.
As we left, the manager passive aggressively called out "Have a nice day! Good bye!" I would hope that a brand as well-known and well-respected as the Westin would have employees that would reflect that.
Great food...great ambiance...great music...great service... great value. Highly recommend brunch!
I have food allergies. The chef’s adjustments to accommodate them were creative and resulted in one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Thank you
Thank you for a lovely time - ambiance was nicer once the crowd left.
This restaurant was a complete surprise. It was suggested by a lady working at the other end of the street, when I asked. It was one of the top restaurants I ate at in Halifax. Many restaurants are wonderful but this one was amazing. The chef is to be congratulated, my meal was a work of art, and tasted the same way. I had a tuna cooked to perfection and chefs creation underneath, so fresh, tasted like it came out of their backyard garden.I will definitely eat here again. I recommend to all people who appreciate amazing food, that looks too beautiful to eat. The meal surpassed any expectations. Thank you
great sunday brunch buffet, the chef made sure we had everything
The most varied and delicious brunch I have ever had. Would return in a heartbeat!!
Every year we come up to Nova Scotia, and part of our vacation is having Sunday Brunch at Elements, in the Westin. LOVELY brunch!
Fabulous food, impeccable service. The only restaurant we would consider for a small family reunion.
Attended the Sunday brunch, arrived a little early for our reservation and were walked through to our table by the hostess. She let us know about the items available during the buffet. The food was delicious as always and the selection was great. The staff were very friendly. There were larger groups while we were there, so it was a little noiser, and our server didn't attend to us as often, but overall it was a great meal and I will certainly be going again. One suggestion I would reccommend is about drinks, they are at the very end/start of the buffet, which is the furthest from the dining room. If you're going to be having any of the juices they're providing, I'd suggest getting it first and going back, or maybe they'll move them closer or inside the dining room for easier access.
My experience would have been greater have I not been humiliated and frustrated by Kate at the triage booth by saying in front of a crowd that my charge plate was declined again! The truth of the matter was that my credit card was never processed once according to my bank's central office! Otherwise my experience was good!
The food and service is always top notch. Could not ask for a better dining experience.
Our waiter Jose was wonderful! The seafood chowder alone is worth visiting this restaurant for!
Very satisfied with food and service. Ideal place for a business lunch - not too loud and able to hear the table when speaking. Food a little expensive but quite tasty.
We met for a meal with friends. It was our first time at Elements and we were all very pleased with the ambiance, service and food. We have already recommended Elements to friends and family and will definitely be returning ourselves. Top notch!
excellent meals. food laid out beautifully and all was tasty. Wait staff were attentive and pleasant. Only negative was that there was no dessert for our gluten free, dairy free family member. A sorbet would have worked great. She was offered fruit but at this level of fine dining more was expected.
Great food. Really enjoyed the Indian masala. Thank you
Good menu. Great food. Reasonable price. Friendly staff.
Great place. Highly recommend it. Great value for the money. The food was awesome. Our waiter, Patrick. Outstanding, very professional. He would always check back to see if we needed anything.
This is a restaurant that has plenty of space between tables. Conversation is easy in the general quietude of this large hotel dining room. The service was good and food presentation was lovely. Linen on the table.
Excellent service and delicious fare. I would recommend for a fabulous dining experience.
Nothing to stay about the restaurant, good place for brunch. But opentable let us made a reservation at 10.30 but the restaurant open at noon!!!!
We celebrated our anniversary with brunch at Elements. Great way to celebrate!
Our server was very pushy. She wanted us to order right away and kept coming back. She didn't bring a refill to the coffee thermos and was not especially friendly.
She wanted to present the bill almost as soon as the food came ( which was a long wait) and then kept trying to pick up the bill for payment several times. Very pushy and rushed feeling.
Amazing selection and quality at the New Years' Day Brunch. Top quality, with so many choices. Best roast beef I've had in a restaurant in a long time. Excellent service as well. And, a very talented duo of singer/guitarists playing nice background music. This is a pricey endeavour, but for a once-a-year treat, a great experience. This may become a family tradition!
Excellent server!
Very nice experience for my grandchildren
Service and food were excellent; it was a Christmas Eve dinner and menu choices were quite varied; our server, Sarah, was well versed in the menu details and wine list contents. She personable, knowledgeable and efficient without making us feel rushed.
The reception and departure processes were similarly well handled.
We went to this restaurant because it received good reviews and the menu looked interesting. Overall we were disappointed as most of the dishes we ordered did not live up to their billing. For example, I had the crab cake which, rather than being delicate, was fried with a heavy and tough crumb crust which completely overpowered the crab. Also, the crab meat was mostly back-fin. Similarly the heavy tomato sauce on the fisherman's stew was too rich for the seafood in the dish, which was limited and compensated for by too much rice. The seafood was also overcooked. The service was OK but more suited to a diner than an upscale restaurant. The young male host (who seated us) was excellent, and we hoped that he would keep serving us during the meal.
