About Element 47

It’s been called Aspen’s “finest spot to wine, dine and unwind.” The name element 47 pays tribute to silver, the precious metal that first put Aspen on the map, and to the finest silver service cuisine —for breakfast, lunch, après and dinner, 7 days a week. Our team of culinary and wine professionals is one very good reason our hotel has enjoyed the rare 5-Star, 5-Diamond ranking for so long. In 2015, element 47 received its first 5-Star Restaurant Award. Whether you ski in for lunch, drop in at the bar for a more casual rendezvous, or join us for the most special of occasions, you’ll be greeted with warmth, not formality. There is no dress code -- "Aspen casual" is ideal attire. We are pleased to accommodate diners with any food allergies, intolerances and dietary restrictions. You’ll find the ambience – ceiling-height glass cases with some of our rarest wines, art by Michelle Grabner, Cameron Martin, Angel Otero, Scott Reeder, Philip Vanderhyden, José Lerma – as fine as the dining.

Salmon was not cooked through. Fries were frozen in middle. Steak was under cooked. Service was good but food didn't even come close to the atmosphere. Wonder if the fact it was closing up for the season the next day influenced the quality. Either way, will not return.

Glad we were able to find a last minute reservation. Don't count on it happening again, but it's spring. Everything was really great. The wine list is pretty steep. Service and food were top notch.

Formal dining, extensive wine list, Somm helped pick a magnum of Burgundy (which the Burgundy wines were on 25% discount) and the back room for a party of 8 was perfect! Not cheap, but not outrageously expensive. A special occasion for sure. Pasta w sweetbreads was great, hanger steak was even better

We were so disappointed. We have eaten here many times and so this was an exception. The service was fabulous as always, but we ordered the special five course tasting menu and two of the five courses were totally inedible because they were so salty -- and we usually love salt. Something must have gone terribly wrong in the kitchen. It was an expensive mistake too at $95 per person. The first two courses - spring salad and the "razor clams" were very good (although the clam dish was really a pasta dish with chopped clams on the top). Dessert very disappointing with some sort of raspberry gelatin ribbons and tasteless supposedly chocolate logs that looked like vienna sausages, but the main problem was the way too salty sweetbreads and tenderloin beef (they ran out of the pork that was supposed to be the fourth course). I hope this was just a one time problem on March 21st. We will go back and order off the menu next time!

Was very unimpressed with this signature restaurant at Little Nell in Aspen.
More casual than I would have expected for Aspen casual; VERY Overpriced wines: French Bordeaux 25% off and still over 250/bottle ! Poor US Napa selections . Food unimpressive : they need a new chef; obviously a tourist trap

The service is discreet and yet attentive. Thank you Element 47 for a beautiful start of our first trip to Aspen!

This was the first visit to this restaurant for my wife and I, in Aspen to snow ski at Snowmass. It was easy to get here using the free shuttle bus service from Snowmass Village to the Ruby Park Transit Center in downtown Aspen. It is just a short walk from there to Element 47 inside the Little Nell Hotel. The food was excellent. Everything was good, from appetizers through dessert. The wine selection is really extensive and the sommolier was very knowledgeable and helpful. You expect to pay up in Aspen for everything, but actually, relatively speaking, this was a reasonably good value for a truly high-end restaurant in Aspen. Definitely worth a visit for a high-end dinner or special occasion if in Aspen.

The food was excellent. We were expecting a wonderful Hot chocolate experience as we have had in the past but unfortunately ours came cold because their "machine was not working". They were able to reheat using a steamer. Also, we were not happy when they threw away our left overs despite our request to have them boxed to take with us. We were told that there was a "miscommunication".

element 47 is a fine example of Aspen fine dining. Other that here, that is Zomato, the restaurant gets glowing reviews and I can understand why.

element 47 serves "aspen casual" finer than anywhere else on the mountain. The setting, service and presentation of meals were all faultless. The only criticism regarding the place settings is the overlapping place mats. A simple white tablecloth would no doubt prove to be easier and more efficient to service and add a touch of class, which I would argue is justified.

e47 also manage food allergies flawlessly, without loosing any element of the dishes prepared.

The sommelier was on point in suggesting a perfect accompaniment to our meals.

A suggestion to the kitchen, however, is to be more confident in recommending how a meal should be experienced. I fully understand that Americans love to "over cook" flavor, needlessly, but take for example the oysters that are flown in fresh from Massachusetts. They were magnificent and best enjoyed straight up, without adding anything. There just wasn't the need to add a squeeze of lemon, horseradish, vinaigrette or Tabasco, all which were provided, "just in case".

e47 is justified to stand tall and be proud of how and why they receive glowing reviews, which after all they fully deserve!

This was our second time dining here. We had a great experience the first time, so decided to revisit.
Let's start with service, it was EXCELLENT! The wait staff was super friendly and very attentive.

Our first course, Venison tartare was FANTASTIC. For entree, my husband and I got the Wagyu steak (cooked: medium). This was TERRIBLE. Two out of the four steak slices were extremely well done. Other two cuts were cooked to medium. This was the WORST Wagyu, we've ever had. We had Wagyu at Canlis in Seattle (cooked: medium) and that was outstanding. I'm only comparing these two restaurants preparation since the prices are comparable. A $95 steak was cooked worse than what I would get at food-chains such as Outback.

We were very disappointed and decided to skip on dessert.

Mulled wine and the Cabernet on the wine by glass list was excellent.

With the Little Nell being a centerpiece for Aspen Mountain, we had high expectations for our visit to Element 47. We made reservations for an 11:30 lunch. Upon arriving at the hostess stand, we indicated that we had a party of 5. We also indicated that we had reservations and she said "oh good" and rolled her eyes as if to comment that every other peasant in line without a reservation was not going to be served.

Once seated, a nice lady came over and brought us water. That was the last person that spoke to us for 15 minutes. Mind you, we were early for lunch and the restaurant wasn't half full at this point.

We saw that other tables were being served bread. I finally flagged down a waitress and asked if we could get some. At this point I think they realized that we had been forgotten and things started popping. We got bread, drink orders were taken and we were off to the races.

The waitress was very nice once she knew we were her clients and did an excellent job. I was still put off by the snottty hostess, but was ready to move on.

Our group ordered 2 cheeseburgers, fish n chips, a falafel burger, and the roasted chicken breast with risotto.

The food was ho-hum. The burgers were good, but not very large. They did not bring the fries out until the meal was halfway over and even then, they were cold. The batter on the fish was good, but overwhelming... heavy on batter and light on fish. Flavor was ok. The chicken was good and the risotto was good, but a bit over-starched. The falafel burger was cold and disgusting. I told my wife to send it back, but by this point, we were good and ready to be done with element 47.

The final insult was that the above meal with no alcoholic beverages was $148. Save your money and go to any number of establishments in Aspen with better service, better food, and better pricing. This was a huge let down for us.

Service was adequate but poorly timed because the appetizers were brought while my husband was in the restroom and the entree was later brought while I was in the restroom. Food was fine but would expect it to be better for the price.

This place - like most of the Little Nell is very dated. The breakfast buffet had a tiny and very basic selection. The St Regis buffet has three times the variety, a much nicer space, and great service. Yeah it's more but worth it. I'd never ever recommend Element for their breakfast buffet. If you don't a buffet, then go to Aspen Over Easy which is excellent. And even Poppycock's across from the Nell is much better.
