About Electric Karma
In the heart of West Hollywood, California, upscale Indian restaurant Electric Karma is popular with both celebrities and neighborhood locals, who praise the authentic Punjabi cuisine prepared with unconventional flair by owner and chef Paramjit Singh. The management and staff are on a first-name basis with regular customers, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere to match the backdrop of Electric Karma’s romantic, open-air courtyard and candle-lit dining room. At night, films of Indian beauty Ashwariya Rai and other Bollywood stars are projected silently above the main dining room to the ambient sounds of world or house music, giving the restaurant a Hollywood hipster air. Electric Karma’s heated courtyard is ideal year-round for both intimate, private gatherings and special business occasions. Appetizers include traditional vegetarian samosas seasoned with tamarind and sweet tomato chutney, pakoras fritters, sambar soup and cheese naan with mango chutney.

Electric Karma Ratings and Reviews
My husband enjoyed his dish, but my tandoori platter was awful. The waiter dropped several dishes when clearing our table and my husband had food all over a new pair of pants when we got home. Fortunately the owner did not charge us for my meal, which was inedible. Not a pleasant experience.
Very friendly staff but they were disorganized. Votive candles were all on our table vs placed on each individual table. Food did not come out in a smooth transition. They didn't check on us to refill beverages. From what I observed, tthers seated around us had the same experience. Having poor service didn't make any sense as they had plenty of staff walking around. I suggest they get a strong manager to run the place - perhaps a woman. Not a female staff in the place.
I found most of the food bland for an Indian restaurant. We had the vegetarian combo for 2 which was a good value. The chutney and raita were very good. The aloo gobi (potato and cauliflower) was good too, but everything else was bland and disappointing. The bhindi (okra) was tough.
For my taste, food was good but not great (tandoor mixed grill was dry and lack of flavor. No overnight marinated préparation I would have expected ?)
Service was good and people really nice.
Place is nice as well (especially outside. I loved it !) but the music was really horrible. Instead of Indian / lounge / sitar / relaxing music, we got a kind of ugly Indian disco club. So strange for a restaurant...
Honestly I was disappointed despite the place and the people are nice.
We used to love, and frequent, this neighborhood gem, but were very disappointed in our last meal there. We thought maybe the ownership had changed, and the food was prepared very differently, so I'll assume a new chef too. The waiter was nowhere to be found. Perhaps they were understaffed. When our order finally arrived, they delivered my entree well before any starters. Very odd. The food just wasn't as good as it used to be, I'm sorry to say.
Worst service ever. Nobody ever came back to our table once our food arrived. We had to waive down the waiters for 10 minutes for items that never came. No drink or water refills. We wound up going up to the bar ourselves just to refill our water glasses. We used to love this place, don't think we will ever go back.
Electric Karma was pretty good. Nothing fancy, but as a Brit in town I am on the lookout for a good solid curry house. This had the feel of a 'British' curry house, although the menu differed slightly from Indian food in the UK. It was good, but not exceptional. The service for excellent though and very friendly, although the restaurant was pretty quiet. I will try other Indian restaurants before deciding whether this is my go to place.
The food was very delicious, service was a little slow. Our server was very polite and personable. The back "patio" is interesting. The seating is on the floor so be forewarned. You must sit in lotus position so that your legs do not hit the table. Personal I found it very uncomfortable. The indoor ambiance is very plain. I would probably order takeout, as the food is very good.
Though there were new and different dishes that deviated from traditional Indian dishes, I did not try them . . . yet. When I try a restaurant for the first time, I tend to order what I know so that I can meaningfully compare it to what I have had in the past. Here, the dishes excelled. Not bathed in oil, which is important to me. Naan had a great texture. My only issue was that the wine pours were a bit small for the price.
I've been to EK quite a few times, and this one was an "it's cold and I'm hungry and want comfort food" situation, for which EK is perfect. It was delicious as usual, and I over-ordered, as I always do. Order to share if you have similar tastes in our group, and plan on having leftovers.
The young man who seated me seemed reluctant to seat me in the outdoor dining area, even though I had specifically requested same in my reservation and there was no one else sitting there. He tried to seat me indoors across from a large group - why? When I politely persisted, he agreed to let me sit outdoors, then left me there for a long time before coming back. I thought it was odd that I received my appetizers before the glass of wine I'd asked for. Never got a refill on my water until I was ready to leave. I finally went in to get my check since he was taking so long and the other man offered to reduce my bill after I told him about the service but I didn't want to wait so I paid full price and left. Frankly the food was good but not as good as many other Indian restaurants and it certainly didn't make up for the lack of good service.
This restaurant is everything you would want in a restaurant. The food is EXTREMELY good ... no matter what you order. I have sampled a variety from the menu and never had anything that wasn't THE BEST! The service is everything you would want -- attentive, professional, courteous, friendly. The décor is beautiful, romantic, charming, inviting. If you haven't checked this place out, you are missing out on the BEST INDIAN venue in town ... bar none.... We have eaten in the restaurant a handful of times; we have ordered online for delivery a handful of times. We have never been disappointed... in fact, we have never been anything less than impressed and well fed!!! Nirvana chicken will enlighten you.
