Something about this place has declined, sadly. Food still tasty, but service is non-existent and atmosphere is dead.
We had an Open Table Reservation yet after seating us, we didn’t see a waiter for 35 minutes - I was visiting town and out with my sister, so we were catching up, but it was a ridiculous amount of time to wait for a glass of water and a menu!! Then our food took so so very long -
They seemed to only have one waiter - whom didn’t know who he sat in what order .. a total mess!
I feel bad because I really wanted to like it!
It was very cold inside and the portions were tiny but the food was delicious
As always a great experience.
We love the food and ambiance here and usually the service is fine. For some reason this time, both servers could barely bother taking our order/ bringing our food and one dish never did arrive. When I finally told them to please cancel it, the waiter gave me major attitude. There were six of us, but when we arrived for our early 6pm rez there was only one other family party who were basically done, so no reason for the bad service. Disappointing, tho our friends loved the food.
I went out on a limb and surprised my partner with dinner here. It was refered to me by open table and it was a success. The place has an authentic Indian feel to it. The food was absolutly mind blowing. I am gluten free and they have endless gluten free options along with vegitarian options. There is also a back patio that you sit on the floor to dine at the table. There are cushions for your back so they make it very comfortable. I highly recommend this place for great Indian food.
Food was great. Service was snail paced & the server a bit rude. Restaurant was very cold. Still, I’ll go back because the food was so good. I’ll just be prepared next tume
Some of the best Indian food i've ever had in LA. Great service, great atmosphere!
Great location, cute place, polite service. Food was tasty, but the Mattar paneer left something to be desired. Was shocked on the way out to notice they had a B rating from the health department. That’s not good and should be fixed immediately. Would return if they go back to an A.
Food was delicious! Very attentive service!
Went on a Thursday night and there wasn’t too many people there. Food was good, but could have been more spicy. Service was great and prices were on point.
Thank you for the great feedback. We are glad to see that you enjoyed your experience. We will take your points into consideration and attempt to create the best possible experience in the future. We hope to serve you again soon!
Such an amazing dining experience. The ambiance and food is just so great
Great dining experience! Always be my favorite Indian place!!!It was my husband’s first time here and we both Loved everything we had! Wish we could eat more but our stomach were already full from eggplant salad, shrimp biryani and chicken tikka masala. Oh well, we can always come back and tried the garlic naan, tandoori , kabab etc!
Having spent 18 days in states
Was nice to have a change to usual fare
And the curry hit the spot
Not as hot in uk standards , but great taste and would recommend to anyone
The food was amazing.
Ambience awesome. Loved that they offer traditional Indian seating!
See you next month
Likes the food and ambience
Lovely food, fast and friendly service and a good price
I'm sorry to say it but this is a typical Indian restaurant in LA. >>> Dumbed down for americans. We asked for spicy and the food was bland. The tonic in the gin and tonic was the old stale kind at a cheap bar. The atmosphere is dark and the decor very uninteresting. Would not go back.
The restaurant was preparing for a large party, which I didn’t know when I made my reservation. Since the main dining room was reserved, I took a table in the back—which is floor seating. The seats weren’t very comfortable and the carpet was dirty. The servers and staff were all preoccupied with prepping for the large party, so service was slow. I ordered tandoori chicken, rice, and garlic naan. The chicken was OK; the rice and naan were dry. When I asked for my check, it took more than 10 minutes to finally get it. I watched the server run about helping the large party, which had just arrived. Getting out of the restaurant was a bit tight, as the large party filled the front room and the space itself was not ideal for moving about with so many people and a buffet set up. There were guests crowded into the entryway, waiting to be seated. It felt as though the restaurant should’ve closed to accommodate such a large party, rather than other guests being impacted by the slow service and low quality of the food.
We enjoyed our time at Electric Karma. The ambiance was great - it was romantic, intimate, and cozy, but it also had a festive vibe. The food was good - I would definitely recommend the chicken tikka masala, as it had a sweetness in the sauce that was delicious. Some of the other dishes lacked a little bit of flavor, it all together, it was great. We liked the combo platters - a good amount of food for a fair price. We especially liked the chutneys/sauces with the samosas.
Was a little disappointed. I ordered a chicken Korma and was served a chicken Mango korma. They took the dish back to the kitchen and returned with supposedly a chicken Korma. Strangely all I could taste was Mango...
The owner was very courteous and there's a nice ambiance; however it was the owner who admitted, when we asked, that he forgot to ask us for the spice level of our dishes. We ordered lamb vindaloo and chicken curry. The dishes may have been better perhaps if we were consulted & informed about what level of heat we prefer. Our dishes ended up being VERY bland as no level of heat was added of course. The value was NOT there for the lamb vindaloo. There were at best 6 pieces of actual meat (amd the pieces were not good sized) and there were chunks of boiled potato in the dish. Since I don't eat lamb often I was looking forward to actually eating lamb, but felt cheated. Finally, the garlic naan was not garlicky and not very tasty. Plain. Hopefully other people have better luck with this place. We will not be back.
Lovely neighborhoody Indian. Very attentive service and delicious food. We had one person who couldn't tolerate hot spice and they were very accommodating. The food is always good and made with very fresh ingredients.
My favorite Indian restaurant in LA. I’m sure I’ve reviewed before. We always go there.
Always a go-to. Best Indian food in town.
Thank you!!! The food the vibe everything was great and authentic!
Amazing food and atmosphere
Best Indian food in LA, period! Been going here nearly since they opened and the quality has never waned even a bit. That's all I can say. Amazing every time!
Great food! Kind waiters! Will definitely come back!
The waiter recommended an excellent dish ... you can’t go wrong with anything you order, the food and service is always excellent. The owner is a very humble man who cares very much about his Resturants and satisfaction of his customers and is always around to make sure guests are happy! Highly recommend this place for its excellent food, service and an amazing set up !!!! Very beautiful Resturant ... specially with the fountain outside ... love this place!
Electric Karma is hands-down the best Indian food in LA. I first went there when they had just opened years ago under different ownership and was concerned when they changed that ownership a number of years back. But not only did the menu remain exactly the same, but they kept the entire ambience, including the Bollywood films that roll on a drop-down screen at all times.
Pretty much the only place I eat Indian in LA and the only one at this level. That's coming from a New Yorker where we have far more Indian options.
