Ela’s always outstanding. The food is fabulous, the ambiance is relaxed yet sophisticated, the location and decor are beautiful and the service is professional and friendly. Ella’s is of our favorite restaurants!
yes, it was loud in doors and we had to shout to hear one another. wait staff was very good and professional. unfortunately two of the meals had food come out that was cool. one was immediately fixed by the helpful waitress and then the manager. while the other was consumed. location is very beautiful. this is a good place to go for sunset and/ or a night on the water.
Looking at the menu I anticipated a delicious and creative dinner. I was disappointed to have a somewhat flavorless meal. I had the seared ahi tuna, that was to come with a seaweed salad. It was a very okay cut of meat and instead of the seaweed salad it had a broccoli slaw that was similar to a packaged Green Giant mix that you can buy at a grocery store. The ginger soy sauce most likely was bottled as well. For over $30 a plate, I was expecting more. I also got the fried green tomatoes which was an unsalted, basic cornmeal fry, and was drenched in a tasteless sauce. Honestly the best thing on the menu was the truffle fries that we got the kids. My husband had the braised beef shortrib, which was also not flavorful. This came on a bed of grits which looked like they had sat under the heat lamp a little too long and had developed a film. All in all, I feel that the only way Ela's is getting away with charging these prices for such poor quality is their location. Unfortunatly the view was the only good take away.
Arrived early, promised table, table not ready more than 10 minutes late, no clear time when table would be ready, left without eating. (Had 2.5 year old toddler with us !)
Great place, awesome food and even better service. Definitely will visit again
We enjoyed a special anniversary dinner here. The atmosphere was nice. The food was even better. Highly recommended!!
My husband and friends have been going to Ella’s for three years now and always save it as the capstone dining experience of our week’s fun on the last night. We requested and received a quiet table with a view on the second floor, which was lovely. Our server, Lily, was outstanding, but as the evening wore on, she was run ragged and we had to wait quite a while before being offered dessert, coffee, after dinner drinks or later the bill. She apologized, said a server had not shown up and that they were very busy downstairs, which they certainly were. This was unusual for this restaurant...service is usually impeccable. The food was good, but did not measure up to the past two years in quality or presentation. Wondering if they have gotten a new chef? In years past, we have been given an amuse bouche, compliments of the chef, wonderful service and every dish beautifully presented and delicious. This year it was quite ordinary. I had the scallops, two of which were perfection, one under cooked. It was still a lovely evening but certainly did not measure up to our expectations. This is a pricy restaurant, which I never mind when the food is excellent and service attentive. Hoping that it fares better if we go next year. There are now MANY high end restaurants on the island where our money might be better spent, but we’ll try it one more time.
As you can see from above the location, food, ambiance and service was Excellent...until near the end of the evening.
We were enjoying a beautiful evening that included cocktails, appetizers, amazing entrees and wine. We were enjoying the views and our after dinner coffees at just under two hours... a manger type Male approached our table and we were asked if we could please leave our table as other guests were waiting..We were in SHOCK..and being Canadian too nice..because we did get up and leave our coffee not even finished..however with a very bad taste in our mouth's..
We would never have expected at an upscale establishment after spending a fare amount of money to be treated with such disrespect.
So while we would have considered returning..we will certainly look elsewhere to spend our valuable time and money.
Really such a shame!!
We had a great dinner with the four of us having four different entrees that were equally delicious. We sat outside overlooking the harbor, its was a wonderful dining experience.
Excellent choices on menu. Staff very attentive and knowledgeable. Great view!
Excellent service, great food and wonderful setting. Opted to eat outside on deck and temp along with heaters made for an enjoyable evening overlooking harbor. Highly recommend P.S Great playlist!!!
Great dining!
Superb Swordfish addition to the menu (Special) that three of us thought was also unique. Fourth person in our party enjoyed the Crab Cakes. Server was attentive and excellent. One of my favorites on the Island.
Nice experience
Lovely restaurant on the water with a great view and well appointed, but the service is lacking and the food is mediocre. Disappointing....
Food just ok
We were just in town for the week & this place was recommended by locals we met. The food was great & a nice waterfront dinner. Live music in the bar made for a great evening.
Great food. (Even the Kids mac and cheese!!) Sat at a table in the bar. GREAT live music. Perfect set list, perfect volume. Wonderful way to end our vacation. Will make a point to come again next year!!
Asked for them to give a birthday wish to a member of our party. This request was completely ignored. However, the food was delicious.
We came for a late night bite and were not disappointed. The shrimp, crab stacks and oysters were delicious.
Ela’s is always on our list while we are on the Island.
We sat outside for a nice dinner for my birthday with my husband. The food was great ! The service was a little slow, so be patient. Dinner took 2 hours. I always remind myself and say we are on island time but it seemed like there was a lot of just sitting and waiting .
Everything about our dinner at ELA’S was perfection! We will definitely be back to this lovely spot with fantastic food!
We can’t complain about a thing!! Y husband and I went out for our birthdays! It was a perfect night!! David our waiter was amazing!!
David, our waiter was very good and we love eating while overlooking the water but on this trip the food did not match its price. The entree portions were very small. The overpriced oysters on the half shell were minute and poorly shucked. They were still attached to shell and in disconnecting them you had virtually nothing edible left. Plus ketchup and horseradish you mix yourself is like fast food. Desserts and coffee overpriced as well. Our second trip there and probably our last. Much better food on the island.
Great food pleasant atmosphere nice ambiance great time
We enjoyed our dinner for my husband’s birthday. Everyone in our group raved about their food from our appetizers to our dessert everything was delicious. Our server and the rest of the staff were experts in their business. It has now become a favorite of ours at Hilton Head Island.
We unfortunately had a server that seems to not care about our needs or anything for that matter. The food was ok - would not recommend to anyone.
Flounder was outstanding. Great water views of the marina with outside dining. Good service!
Great food, seat on the water as requested and fabulous service!
I always love the view at Ela's but, their food is fine just not fantastic for the price. I had the red fish special which was not so special. Not bad, just not special. I brought a houseguest from the frozen north so I wanted the view. With entrees over $30 I just think the food should be as great as the view. I should also mention that one person in our party had the mussels appetizer which they said was fabulous.
So hospitable! Hostess and waiter were very accommodating, the food was well prepared “low country” dishes, and sitting outside with a nice glass of wine was sublime. Great wine list.
Although we live about 45 minutes away we will go 2-3 times a year. Our waitress Raven was terrific. View is great especially on 2nd floor. Parking is an issue but they will help you find a spot.
We had a corner patio overlooking the harbor on a beautiful but breezy evening. They turned on the heat lamps for us and it was really cozy. Dinner was slow, we didn't mnd the slow pace but our waiter was not attentive or apologetic. We had to ask for bread since there was a long wait. The food was very good. Filet, shrimp, scallops, asparagus, lobster risotto and salad were great. Next time we will ask for a different waiter. The location and good food will bring us back for sure.
ELA’S is one of our favorites on the island! Grab a table outside and watch the boats come in. The views of the Broad creek are great. The food is delicious and service is great! Highly rec!
1.)We were asked if we were going for a special occasion which it was our anniversary, but when there, no acknowledgement was ever made, so why ask? 2.) I ordered the Flounder which was delicious but watch out for the bones. It comes whole so you have to eat around the bones. I have had Flounder on many occasions and NEVER have I had such a problem, it has always been deboned. My fingers were in my mouth more than my fork. When mentioned to our server she said "everybody loves it that way". Well, not everybody. Don't get me wrong the flavor was delicious I just was not expecting to have to work so hard at it. I explained that I would have liked to have had a heads up about the fish coming with bones. I would not have ordered it.
We will go back again as my husbands Seafood Scampi was wonderful and there are many other things on the menu I'd like to try, just not the Flounder. And I will remember to ask more questions.
We went there for Easter Brunch and it was just what we wanted. Always enjoy going there - good food and great scenery.
We enjoyed our dining experience. I did not care for the music provided (singer with his guitar).
We are Australians living in the USA and always look for Australian wines when dining out. We selected a Barossa Valley Estate Shiraz and it was very nice. Thanks for the experience. We will recommend your retaurant when asked.
Food was great everyone had something different and loved it. Enough variety for everyone. Guitar player / singer was excellent. It gets a little loud inside but it was chilly outside - great vibe and experience.
Wine and fried green tomatoes were great, my Snapper special was way over salted and dry. Service was good once the waiter came over but it was close to15 minutes after we were seated for anyone to show up
