We arrived at the restaurant and the doors were locked and no one was inside at 5 pm on a Saturday. Used to love this place but now it appears they went bust
Friendly service - wait staff and chef had a fine sense of humor. Great value for a meal of this quality.
Fantastic all around. Wonderfully knowledgeable and friendly staff. ( both front and back of house) Exceptional food and service. Will be returning! :)
First time dinner. Waitstaff was delightful, knowledgeable of menu items and helpful.
Beautiful presentation, ample portions and delicious. Had some to take home and while not as pretty just as tasty the next day.
We have had some great dinners at Elaine's. This evening we had tickets to a show at Popejoy, and they were overwhelmed by customers who were also going to the show. We sat for almost an hour and did not even receive our salad, so we left. I would definitely consider having dinner here again, but certainly not on a busy night where we had plans afterwards. The ratings for food are from previous visits, since we did not eat this visit.
Our dinner was excellent - we started with mussels which were in a fantastic sauce in which I couldn't stop sopping up my bread. I had the hanger steak and frites - outstanding! The meat was tender, the spinach was very fresh, and the frites were divine. My husband had the halibut which he said was equally excellent. Elaine's new chef is a gem! I highly recommend this restaurant.
I hate to be the person who complains but our experience Friday night was awful. After being seated it took ten minutes before someone brought us water. The restaurant was about 40% full and it was another 10 minutes before our waiter appeared and took our drink order. We ordered a cheese plate appetizer that was ok. Would have been nice to know what we were eating, a server dropped it at our table with no explanation. When it was time to order we asked what the Chefs soup was (the only soup on the menu) and were told that they had run out. It was about 7:00. Who runs out of soup on a Friday night at 7:00?? Our waiter then went on and on about how good it was and how it was prepared. Why!?! We can’t have any!! As we ordered our main courses we were given a list of all the dishes they didn’t have that night which made ordering frustrating. It then took forever to get our food (about 50 minutes). When our food arrived it was clear that they were out of more ingredients than we had been told. Several substitutions had been made to our dishes making what we ordered entirely different from we expected. Instead of candied fruit in a salad they substituted steamed tomatoes. Instead of seasonal vegetables with my steak I got a pile of raw spinach. It was bizarre, cheap, and disappointing. Overall I’m not sure how they stay open. It was honestly the worst “fine dining” experience I’ve ever had and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Delicious food but cold (literally) atmosphere ; servers were trying but food took FOREVER even the cheese tray and dessert. And no more mini sopapillas :( seems like the management has changed for the worse
We were from out of town and had visited a couple of years ago and liked it very much but this time was a let down and we wont' return again. Sorry.
Waitress was prompt, not hovering, knowledgeable about each entree & appetizer.
Delicious dinner , will be back. Loved the variety of fresh bread choices .
Large party, made small space very noisy. They were out of several items including a wine which I ordered and brussel sprouts. (Not that everyone would be upset about that.) One of our entrees was cold the other, very hot. Oh, and parking is terrible.
A fabulous restaurant in a terrific location. The executive chef and the wait-staff are very capable and professional, while remaining casual and friendly. The menu is creative and interesting, but also grounded in the fundamentals of good ingredients, expertly prepared, and served with understated style. I always have a very pleasurable experience dining there with a good friend. Our favorite restaurant in Albuquerque.
What a great surprise! Wanted to try a place we hadn't been to before. What we found at Elaine's was fabulous food and wine, great atmosphere, and a very friendly, helpful staff. The food was totally a surprise. The best crab cake I've had. Both sea food dishes we ordered were outstanding. Would highly recommend!!
Wonderful dinner at Elaine's with elderly mom. Quiet and elegant. The food was truly outstanding.
I've eaten at Elaine's two other times. This time was a huge disappointment. Our food took two hours to arrive to our table. The restaurant wasn't that busy so we weren't sure why the delay. When the food arrived, it was barely warm. At that point, we wanted to eat and leave as it was 10:30 pm. The server made no comment why the service was so slow. I don't think I would return.
Our dinner at Elaine's could not have been better. The service was great! The food was delicious! And so was the wine. We have definitely found our spot for special date night. The entire experience was head and shoulders above they other spots we've tried. I highly recommend.
Every course was amazing! Don't miss the brussel sprouts or the Olives- like I have never had. Great gem in Albuquerque's Nob Hill!!
The food was great - honestly just too much! My husband had the short ribs which were tender and amazing. I had the filet which was perfectly cooked. The service was very good. The atmosphere is quiet and they don't over book as they have a small kitchen so it was not too busy or noisy.
Our food took over an hour and my friend ordered a salad and I had chicken. Did the chicken need to be caught plucked and boiled? And then the chicken plate was just ok. My expectations were definitely let down.
They have changed some of what they are known for - so that was disappointing (specifically - sopapilla treats and creamier sauces were not part of the meal). They brought out an extensive tray of breads, which as much as the staff tried, it just wasn't great. Our fish was a bit overcooked. We enjoyed our company and the staff was very nice. The food wasn't what it used to be. I would recommend it hoping they will go back to what they used to do.
This is a regular in our weekend dining. Never disappoints us. I usually have the halibut or cod dish. My husband has the filet and we trade bites. They are both so wonderful. The wine list is nice with a good range of prices.
It was my wife and I first visit to Elaines and we were impressed and will be coming back. the food was superbly prepared and the presentation was great.
The quality of the menu, food and drink and relaxing atmosphere are all first class. Service is superb, staff are lovely and very professional. Nice place ! One of our favourites and very consistently good.
The food was amazing as ever. Every item we ordered was full of flavor and the knowledgeable server was able to help us pair each course with the perfect glass of wine. The portions are sizable and I had to have my entree boxed up so that I could enjoy dessert. You could share each course with someone and leave with a full belly.
Elaine's is outstanding in every way. love this restaurant!!!
This is about our seventh time here and it never disappoints. Our server suggested a great Spanish wine with great and accurate description of the flavor profile. I usually hate mussels but tried my husbands and they were wonderful with a light not overpowering broth. I had the sweet onion soup with crab and was very happy. The short ribs and halibut were tasty with large portions. Had to take some home but still some room for the panna cotta. Very quiet and pleasant. I can’t wait to go back.
Great little bistro. Food was excellent as was the serving staff. Hostess was very friendly and attentive. Highly recommended....you won't be disappointed. The salmon and swordfish were phenomenal!
Great selection of wine and beer.
nice what you have done with the place
Amazing food, very pleasant atmosphere. Would recommend for almost any occasion.
Lovely restaurant! Good food, attentive service and perfect ambiance.
We had a nice dinner here. The service was very good. The wine list was excellent.
I wish they had more than two desserts on the menu. We will go back and will
recommend the restaurant to friends.
Everything was good, however they did not ask how old my daughter was and charged her as an adult.
We went for Mother's Day brunch, which was a fixed menu with limited choices. Knowing that, I thought we'd be in and out in a reasonable amount of time - like two hours or less. (I actually got a parking ticket because my parking ran out while we were waiting for the check). While the salad course came out quickly, the entrees took FOREVER and three of them had to be sent back because they weren't right. In addition, somehow glass shards ended up on the table after they put the plates down and then took them back to the kitchen to get corrected, and one of our guests cut their hand. Dessert was strawberry shortcake, which consisted of two dry scones with some strawberry drizzle and a small dollop of whipped cream. We opted to go for gelato down the street instead. I've been there many times for dinner and have always had a good experience. I don't think I will be back for a special menu event. Very disappointing.
Great birthday celebration for my husband! He loved the choice of draught beer made by our waiter, and we both enjoyed our meals.
I really wanted to like it. The restaurant was about half full but our food took so long to come out and when it did, the entrees were undercooked. It just seemed rushed. Other patrons were seated after us were served before us. I didn't want to take it personal but at some point your have to haul it got what it is. Either this or our table was forgotten, but I can't imagine this in a place so small.
Like I said, I really wanted to like Elaine's, however, I can't give it a good review. Our server was great, however, the quality and timeliness of the entrees spoiled the evening. I've been to bistros all over the world and this didn't live up to any of them. Prices were one par, however, quality was not.
What a gem to find in Nob Hill. Everything about this place was perfect. Excellent restaurants like this deserve to be supported and celebrated!
Consistently fabulous with a warm, friendly environment
