El Vez Ratings and Reviews
I came here for a business meal, I’ve been here on plenty of other occasions as well, and the staff was very friendly and responsive. I’ve absolutely loved my experience every time I’ve come here, the food is always amazing and the food is always excellent. A great spot!
We are proud to have El Vez in our city. When out-of-owners visit us, we take them to El Vez and it never disappoints. Love the ambiance and the drinks. Our appetizers were outstanding. The food...could use some zing...I've had better Mexican food. The service was excellent as always.
Hands down a great vibe/atmosphere. So many different types of people made us feel super comfortable. My teenager got the shrimp taco and it was a bit spicy for her. I got the mahi mahi taco and it was definitely the best one I’ve ever had. Guacamole and chips were good. Would have loved to sample more food so we’ll be back.
I have never felt uncomfortable in all my years eating out until last night. Our first server “Charlese” (learned her name from the server who took over for her) came over a few minutes after being seated and asked if we wanted water. We declined and thought she would ask for our drink order. Nope, she walked away. Almost 15 minutes later she appeared and stood on the opposite side of us and just looked at us. We both said “hi” with a smile. Waited what felt like forever for her to speak or ask us for our order... she just stood there looking at us albeit with a smile. It was a very awkward long pause of nothingness. We asked her how she was doing...she answered but we didn’t hear her and continued to just look at us. So I asked her can we give our drink order. She said sure and we ordered our cocktails. She continued to just stand there so we also gave her our app order. We asked some questions and she answered them. When she left we both looked at each other and agreed that was the weirdest encounter we ever experienced. She clearly gave us the impression that she did not want to serve us. Oddly enough a new server showed up and informed us she was taking over for Charlese. That was a relief because we were considering leaving. We are a gay couple. We chose this restaurant in this area to feel accepted. Charlese left us feeling we were not. We don’t know what was going on with her but if you are in the Service business, whatever your deal is, you shouldn’t take it out on customers.
The server that took over was good. My poor rating for Service should not reflect on her.
The food was amazing.
Will we be back? Sure but we will make a point to request not to be seated at one of Charlese’s table.
El Vez elevates Mexican to an artform. From roasted tomato sauces, to inventive guacamoles, the menu is inventive and there's something for everyone. The lunch special is just about perfect and the service is great. A warm, fun atmosphere completes the experience.
First time trying El Vez for brunch, and it was overall very good. The service is always great, and the guava mimosa was outstanding. The food was also on par with the dinner menu - we had the melted manchego, breakfast burrito, and huevos sopas - all really great. We'll be back.
We'd heard good things about El Vez and finally had a chance to try it out without our kids for our anniversary. Everything was delicious, from the bazooka limón guac and corn and poblano empanada apps to the taco tasting platter and finally the churros. The wait staff was super friendly and gave us the best menu advice, guiding our cocktail choices perfectly. And now that we've been there we see that we can bring our kids back with us when we head back, which we certainly will!
A restaurant should not take reservations late at night if they are not prepared to provide service and food late at night. We had a reservation. We were told the kitchen was closing in two minutes by the time the waiter came to take our order. When asked at the end of the meal if there was anything else, we asked for dessert at which point we were told there was nothing available because the kitchen had closed . How bizarre to be asked about anything else if there in fact was nothing else to be had. We are regular customers. At least we were.
I am never disappointed at El Vez. The food is always spectacular and so is the service. I am a huge fan of the blood orange margaritas. Every time I go I say I’m going to try something else but they’re so good I just can’t resist. The tacos al carbon for 2, fed 4 of us, the macho nachos with chicken, the plantains and corn, were all absolutely delicious!!!
