El Vez Ratings and Reviews
It really sucks to have to give this place a low rating considering the food is amazing. This is our second time visiting, we come to Philly once a year for a jewelry show and we LOVED it so much last year that we couldn’t wait to come back. That being said, we will NEVER be going back again. We sat down, and were enjoying our appetizer when I move my leg and realize there is a HUGE wad of gum stuck to my pants leg from under the table. When we alerted our server and asked for a towel he just said ‘Oh I’m sorry’, very insincerely and threw us a towel. Then he went to talk about is to his manager. We tried to dismiss it and continue our dinner, they cleared our forks accidentally and when I asked for another the manager brought me a new one and put it on the table. It was COVERED in dry, crusty food. I thought it was a joke. We told him and he gave me a clean one and apologized. We took pictures of the gum hanging from underneath our table and showed the waiter to which he replied ‘I can’t control what other people do’ and walked away rolling his eyes. They gave us free churros as if that was supposed to make up for the rude service. The disgusting gum could’ve been overlooked, the crusty fork could’ve been overlooked but the poor service could not. They really need customer service training ASAP.
We came to El Vez to celebrate Valentine’s/anniversary. It was the Friday after a Wednesday Valentine’s Day so it was pretty crowded. I had the el Vez margarita but I added jalapeño to make it spicy.. it was great! We got the de la Hoya guacamole which was delicious and way more than 2 people could eat. I got the Mexican chopped salad with shrimp which was good but slightly under dressed. Overall the food was great and the service was awesome. A little louder than I imagined but still a fun night!
The food was amazing. I got the guacamole which was tasty and fresh, and the special lobster flatbread which was decadent. The Carne Asada was so tender I could cut it with my fork. The standard El Vez margarita was great. The flan was yummy with some citrus. All in all one of the best meals I have ever had.
Haven't been in years, missed the old entrees - e.g. chicken dish served with buttery cornbread with jalapeño peppers. But as always, a Starr restaurant never disappoints with creative ways to enhance basic entrees! Loved the mahi-mahi tacos! Staff couldn't be friendlier/more genuine! We drove over from NJ, held our table after being 25 minutes late on a crowded Saturday night. Hostess, and the gentlemen that showed us to our table we're so very nice! Also discounted our parking in the garage around the corner. Waitress took notice of the parking garage ticket on our table and brought over the discount ticket.
EXCELLENT FOOD THE GUACOMOLE DIP WAS SUPERB AND SO WAS THE SPICY CREAMY SALSA AWE HAD THE TABLE BOOKED FOR 930 BUT WE CAME EARLY AND THE WAITRESS WAS KIND ENOUGH TO LET US KNOW THAT WE COULD GET IN EARLY ONCE TABLE WILL GET VACANT AND SHE TEXTED US AT 800 ITSELF VERY FRIENDLY ATOMSPHERE I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO EAT THE CAULIFLOWER DISH YOU HAD LAST YEAR LOOKS LIKE IT GOT SUBSTITUTED WITH THE BRUSSEL SPROUTS
OVERALL FOOD WAS EXCELLENT
PLEASE OPEN ONE IN BUCKS COUNTY
Everything was great. Seated immediately, check. Greeted promptly and friendly, check. Drinks: amazing. Service: wonderful. We weren’t rushed but I didn’t feel I sat there forever. Our server was very sweet, professional and pleasant. The food was everything I hoped for. My carnitas tacos were the best. My family and I had a great time.
