fantastic food! great drinks!
It really sucks to have to give this place a low rating considering the food is amazing. This is our second time visiting, we come to Philly once a year for a jewelry show and we LOVED it so much last year that we couldn’t wait to come back. That being said, we will NEVER be going back again. We sat down, and were enjoying our appetizer when I move my leg and realize there is a HUGE wad of gum stuck to my pants leg from under the table. When we alerted our server and asked for a towel he just said ‘Oh I’m sorry’, very insincerely and threw us a towel. Then he went to talk about is to his manager. We tried to dismiss it and continue our dinner, they cleared our forks accidentally and when I asked for another the manager brought me a new one and put it on the table. It was COVERED in dry, crusty food. I thought it was a joke. We told him and he gave me a clean one and apologized. We took pictures of the gum hanging from underneath our table and showed the waiter to which he replied ‘I can’t control what other people do’ and walked away rolling his eyes. They gave us free churros as if that was supposed to make up for the rude service. The disgusting gum could’ve been overlooked, the crusty fork could’ve been overlooked but the poor service could not. They really need customer service training ASAP.
Excellent. Salsas incredible flavor. Red Chile Chicken Enchiladas out of this world.
Amazing food and drinks but the seating was a little too close for my tastes.
Early Saturday evening with a party of six. Sat us immediately, food and service were excellent.
We came to El Vez to celebrate Valentine’s/anniversary. It was the Friday after a Wednesday Valentine’s Day so it was pretty crowded. I had the el Vez margarita but I added jalapeño to make it spicy.. it was great! We got the de la Hoya guacamole which was delicious and way more than 2 people could eat. I got the Mexican chopped salad with shrimp which was good but slightly under dressed. Overall the food was great and the service was awesome. A little louder than I imagined but still a fun night!
We celebrated Valentine’s Day here, the day after Valentine’s Day. The service was fast, and efficient. The food was absolutely amazing. We got the Macho Nachos and the two meat taco combo (beef and chicken). We will definitely be returning!
We really loved the food and margaritas. The Bazooka Limon guac and the blood orange margs were awesome! Definitely a good place to check out in the city. Our only criticisms were that is was very dark - hard to read the menu, and it was fairly loud.
The food was amazing. I got the guacamole which was tasty and fresh, and the special lobster flatbread which was decadent. The Carne Asada was so tender I could cut it with my fork. The standard El Vez margarita was great. The flan was yummy with some citrus. All in all one of the best meals I have ever had.
