El Vez New York
Casual yet contemporary, El Vez celebrates the festive soul of Mexican and Mexican-American culture, a true south-of-the-border spirit that manifests itself in the restaurant’s attitude and atmosphere. The breathtaking space is a feast for the eyes with imaginatively designed dining areas, a large bar outfitted with a photobooth, a wrap-around landscaped patio for dining al fresco and a burrito bar for food on the go.
With deep roots in regional Mexican cooking, the menu is built around guacamoles, fundidos, ceviches, tacos, quesadillas and enchiladas made from scratch with authenticity in mind. Meanwhile, the bar offers a large selection of creative cocktails, signature margaritas and staggering selection of 150 mezcals and tequilas.
I have been here million times. As usual everything good, little disappointed with the cauliflower tacos which I have never tried before, not recommended. But the rest of the menu is awesome, ambience great and service was amazing. Is always a great option and will keep going, just won't order the cauliflower tacos :P
Delicious tortillas. Loved the queso fundido, the tuna carnitas tacos and the burnt grapefruit marg. Bright and fun atmosphere. Would definitely dine again.
Excellent food, carefully thought out. Warm and generous service.
Its always awesome to be at el vez. Nice food, atmosphere and awesome location
El Vez was a very good restaurant overall. The food was excellent and the drinks were good. Service was also very good. Would recommend
The food and drinks was amazing. Our waitress and runner were outstanding 🙌🏼 will definitely come back and recommend to anyone
Service was quite disappointing - she seemed overwhelmed and was quite rude
It was awful!!! The food was NOT foodsafe. The Chile relleno was served lukewarm, and inside was actually COLD! I understand that they must make these ahead of time and then batter/fry before serving, but they couldn’t even fry it to a high enough internal temperature for food safety purposes. The batter was also partially raw. Our food took over 30 minutes to come out even though the table next to us ordered after us and got their food before us. The guacamole had filler in it and didn’t have tomatoes. There was some type of emulsifier to turn it really gummy. This restaurant should be inspected and potentially be closed!
Completely tasteless food. A Slim Jim from a bodega will be a more interesting food choice.
Food was delicious but waiter was very slow
We had a large party of about 14 people, but El Vez was able to accommodate us with no issues. I even had to shift the reservation a few times, and they were incredibly helpful with reminders and confirmation. The food was great (highly recommend the Tito Santana guac)! Our waiter seemed a bit flustered when taking our orders, but I think that was partially due to us being a bit indecisive when he came to the table. Overall, I highly recommend.
I wanted to order everything on thr menu and through the waiter's recommendation ultimately settled on the mystery guacamole (thankfully they tell you what's in it) and fish tacos. Extremely tasty.
nice place, bigger than I expected. service was great. dinner portions were small but good. needed to get an entre after my entre.
Consistently delicious! Great staff, festive atmosphere and one of our favorite spots for family dinners!
Good food. Ok service. Very noisy. Lots of finance bros.
The service was amazing starting from entering the room to receiving a table. I didn’t have to wait for the food for a long time and I was not being rushed to leave the restaurant. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I would love to come here again.
El Vez has too many patrons and not enough servers. For a table of 8 for client entertainment, service was slow, noise level far above being able to hear people on the other side of the table. Waitress not paying attention to drink or appetizer/chip refills....we all were on “empty” and in search for her vs her being attentive to the needs of the table and making recommendations. Food was totally average, service was “reactive” not proactive. Will not return here for any business entertaining.
Food is always great and service is always friendly.
We’re in NYC for a weekend getaway spending our visit primarily in lower Manhattan. My wife stumbled upon El Vez and we decided to give it a try .... so glad we did.
The menu is not as varied as other Mexican restaurants but what they do serve is exceptional. We had the Taco Platter for two with chicken and steak. Everything came plated just as ordered, the portion was huge and it tasted amazing.
Our server, Natalia, greeted us as soon as we were seated and was attentive without being pushy throughout our meal. She offered great suggestions about things to order and didn’t steer us wrong. She was busy - handling several tables some quite large extremely well.
Safe to say that the next time we’re back in lower Manhattan, we’ll be dining at El Vez, again.
Job well done!!!
The best service and food! My friend love it!! We ate the guacamole and chip and beef tacos, everything were fresh and delicious. Authentic Mexican flavor and the margarita was more than perfect!!
Good place for the money. The chips and guac were very good as was the enchiladas.
I do love El Vez. The brunch items seem a little pricey but they were good. I'll definitely go back.
For the price of the guacamole and queso, you should be able to get enough for 3 or 4 people. Overall a great place and might return.
The food and service were fantastic, but the prices are just too high for what you get; a la carte pricing for sides like beans, which come with entrees at similarly priced restaurants, just make it prohibitively expensive.
The food was delicious and the service was great. I would definitely to back there again. The Mahi Mahi tacos were the best fish tacos I’ve ever had
Recommend the guacamole with pomegranate, nuts, etc
Also recommend the queso with wild mushrooms. The bell red pepper maragarita was spicy and delicious. We could of skipped the nachos. Something with the flavor profile and chorizo was off. Also skip the tres leches.
Our waitress was training another. Neither was consistent with following up on our table. The gentleman who appeared to be the GM or evening manager was most attentive in refilling our drinks and taking away plates. It’s always nice to see a manager doing that. But his staff should really pay better attention.
Viviana was an amazing server and great service as always! Great for big groups and restaurant was understanding when our big group shrank last minute!
Pricy and I think given the professional area but good quality and delicious food so justified. Bar gets really noisy for pre-dinner drinks but luckily dining area isn’t too loud (I feel like an old person saying that but I can’t scream over dinner anymore! 🤗)
I’ll definitely have another big dinner at El Vez, probably my 4th or 5th so far and several small ones too!
Hope you’re lucky enough to get Patrick as your waiter.
The portion sizes were very small for what you paid.
I recommended El Vez to friends because the location is convenient and by the WTC which is always a draw for people visiting from out of town. I've been to El Vez several times but this time I did not like my dish. I ordered the bean burrito but it was smothered in a tomato type of sauce that was very thick and seemed old. The burrito tasted like it was frozen and thrown in the microwave.
The quacamole was so-so but at least the chips were warm. For such a popular place you can do better on the food quality.
They couldn't find my OpenTable reservation. Food overpriced and tasteless. Chips looked and tasted like they came from a Frito bag; not worth $6. Main came 90 seconds after appy. I'm a fast NY eater, but 90 seconds? Not given or even offered glass for my beer. Phila branch is much better
Saturday was a joy. It felt like a nice family friendly outing for a Saturday brunch.
The food was phenomenal. Melissa was amazing. My nonalcoholic drink was perfect. I will definitely come back here.
Decent mexican food but super expensive for a simple lunch.
servers and managers are super friendly and very helpful
El Vez has become our neighborhood go-to. The food is consistently good (margs are divine), and the service is attentive even on the busiest of nights. The ambiance in the main dining room is well lit and always lively. It's a perfect Friday night spot.
Travis was wonderful!
Our waitress took our experience from delish but overpriced to something truly special.
Love, love, love this place for lunch or dinner. It's great for vegans, vegetarians, and those of us who still eat fish and meat. And the mango guacamole is the best!
