Been here few times all good. This time not good. Better places to eat
New executive chef and new menu. Food was good, but the music was deafeningly loud and we had to ask four times before they finally turned the music down.
Food was just okay. Ambiance is great. Service was mediocre.
Great food that captures the true essence of Mexican cooking. Well-crafted margaritas, carefully balanced between tequila and lime. A staff that's eager to please. Overall, a great experience. We'll be back.
This had been one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in NYC. The chicken mole was terrific, the cheese fondue with chorizo was to die for. Now a new chef has been brought in to "lighten" up the menu. She was at Dos Caminos for many years. Why did the owners feel the need for a change? Why fix something that did not need fixing. My first meal there under new management was not as good except for the new pork entree. The service was cordial but the waitress did not know how to bring out the dishes in proper order. The salad should come out first, correct? La Contenta is now my place to go to in the Village.
Terrible management. Terrible food. Wouldn’t recommend over fast food.
This place was great! My friends and i went to catch up. The look itself is amazing and we tried the guac+chips, beef tacos, and chicken tacos - all were flavorful and very tasty. We also had clasico margaritas and they were very good. A recommendation is definitely necessary. You're able to sit at the bar while you waited but there aren't a lot of bar stools so you'll most likely be standing for your wait. The good things is that you can order apps while you wait as well. Overall great time and definitely recommend
It was my first time there but not my last. Great food service and drinks.
Great guacamole and queso fundido!
Great service. Great guacamole. Very loud, so good for a group of friends for having drinks and dinner.
An uneven experience, the waiters are charming and competent, the EBT margarita was amazing and the guacamole was great. Tacos al pastor were also delicious but everything else was subpar. The queso fundido was abismal (maybe the fact that they translate it as “fondue” is a sign), a Tampiqueña entre had raw rice and the steak was unseasoned. A coconut tres leches was old, the cake hard and the flavor stale. Would come back for drinks and guacamole but I’m not returning for dinner.
I live around the corner and was looking for a new Mexican restaurant! The guacamole is delicious, the fish tacos good (only came with two) and the steak entree was excellent. They were very accommodating for a food allergy, and our two toddlers!
The guacamole was out of this world. We also had the brussels sprouts and fish and steak tacos which everyone loved. Service felt rushed at times, but the waiters were friendly.
This restaurant told me I was too drunk bc I was having fun and dancing a little bit at the bar while we were waiting for the table. I found this out because when I ordered the most expensive bottle of champagne we were told that they didn't have it in stock. When I ordered the next one they finally told me that they were cutting us off. Bs.
Overall, really good.
Lovely staff and service and not too crowded or noisy but food is truly sub-par. Was shocked at how lousy the food was. Neither myself not my friend could eat one of the dishes I ordered (al pastor tacos wherein the pork was clearly re-heated and didn't taste remotely of pork but just old meat) and the other, old school ground beef tacos, was barely edible: dry and gristly ground beef. My friend had hanger steak which was better. But how do you make horrible tacos at a Mexican place? Server was super nice and gracious as was the hostess. But won't return Bc food so bad.
The food was nothing to brag about and the drinks were over priced. The service was on point and the ambiance was pleasing. Wish the food and drinks were worth going back for.
Our party felt like we weren't important enough to be attended as others were. Diversity is needed in this space. The pitcher of Margaritas was over prices for tasting like lime juice. When requesting the second pitcher we were completely ignored as the pitcher was ten times sour than the first one. It was never adjusted. I won't be going back.
The server was very pleasant but the food lacked seasoning. The drinks were alright and expensive for happy hour. We enjoyed the music played and dessert.
I went for Sunday brunch during Restaurant Week and despite being listed as participating in it they insisted they were not. Service was indifferent and spotty. Very loud oldies pop hits made brunch conversation difficult, it felt like a chain restaurant on a Friday night. The food was ok, overpriced. Not good enough for NYC, sorry.
Great cocktails, if you like tequila and margaritas. It is the perfect place for a friends' small group get together, because a lot of the dishes are shareable.
My first, but not my last time here. Everything was awesome, from the smile as you entered the door, to the smile as I left. Food and service was awesome. I was quite happy with my first cocktail. The waitress exchanged it with no problems. Will truly be visiting again..
Service was good and friendly - the food ok - drinks were nice - we had a nice time
Ultimately the food was good, but prices and service were a little outrageous. The guacamole is $26 for a large, and while it’s tasty, that’s just straight up ridiculous. And steak taco’s are $18 for two little tacos. Completely an overpriced underwhelming experience. I’m shocked it’s still around.
Always a terrific Mexican restaurant. Also, very good Margaritas.
The food here never fails you. It is delicious, the serving sizes are great, fresh and delicious!
I loved the seating options that included cozy banquets and plush benches. Food was spectacular if you’re in the mood for Mexican
We had a really wonderful and delicious brunch excellent waitress looking forward to coming back soon
Service was awful. This is not my first time at the restaurant and last night was so bad i likely won’t go back.
I have been several times and this was my first larger party, business meal. It was equally as good as previous meals. The margaritas were fabulous and the menu great for a larger party as everyone can really get their choice of portions. I had requested - and received - a round table that was perfect for our conversation, even after the place became more lively. Service was great - friendly and efficient. I enthusiastically recommend for business or pleasure dining.
Great place. Trendy. Good food but a bit overpriced. Certainly not a cheap night out.
Well, I made the reservation for lunch, confirmed by the restaurant and Open Table and then showed up the and the restaurant was not open until 4pm.
Delicious tuna ceviche, highly recommended 🐟. Super nice lobster tacos 🌮
Everything, from the service, food to ambience was amazing! Would come back here in a heartbeat and would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends.
The restaurant was closed when we got there with a confirmed reservation. So unprofessional! Left us with no warning, no call no email no nothing!
The food was good and the prices are moderate. I’d recomendable this place for creative Mexican seafood. And for the mezcal and tequila offerings.
It was all good except maybe octopus tacos are not a good idea. I love octopus, but didn't seem to stand up to the other taco ingredients so didnt' get much from it. Regretted my order somewhat although always like to try new things. 2 tacos for picing is a little off.
Service was very slow
Food was amazing and so were the drinks! Get the Menzana and Mexican corn
My favorite Mexican food in the city. Good drinks and service.
