If you like a serving of spider with your dinner go for it. Apparently cleanliness is not Next to Godliness for these people. Here's a thought with the coronavirus you think maybe a cleaning might be in order for this restaurant.... disgusting
It was good but service could have been better.
El Torito Grill is like no other restaurant I've ever been to. Although it had been a few years since the last time I ate there, as restaurants started opening up, and I saw it on the Open Table app, I thought I was due to return. It was as amazing as I remember it but without the crowds that used to make it a hassle. Anyone should get out there and enjoy it before it fills up again.
We had been here several times before and have always enjoyed the food and great service. However, today we were disappointed and will not be returning. Even though the restaurant was not busy at all, it took nearly 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Assuming that my carne asada should be hot, it was cold as if it had been sitting for awhile. Our server was okay and did the best he could due to it not being his fault that the cook was very slow. As we left, the hostess ignored us we left. Very disappointed...
The waiter was a disgusting disgrace ..... the place was EMPTY!! And we went in there like suckers trying to support local businesses ect .... we had a party of 4 people , sat outside and this loser was never to be found ... I had to get up and find him AFTER we realized that he literally forgot my order and didn’t even put it in... so there I am .. everyone has their food except me .. and the place is EMPTY !!!! You would think , since business is down and they were empty, we would be over-communicated too ect but no ... this dude is walking around like he has 100 tables , but it was EMPTY in their .... please démodé him or retrain this guy on good old fashion communications skills ... so DISGUSTING
Carmen was our sever. She was awesome! So nice and made the experience fantastic . Thank you. Great food as always
Food arrived overcooked-not as ordered, cold and incomplete. Took 30 minutes to get sweetener for iced tea.
Great! Covid19 measurements in place and the server was very attentive.
Great service and great price
This was my first time dinning in at a restaurant since the quarantine so my husband and I decided to try new restaurant- we definitely made a good decision! Our waiter, Eric, was super friendly and suggested the house margaritas, tortillas with sweet butter, and the fajitas supremes Del fuego - all excellent choices! Probably the best house margaritas and homemade tortillas that I’ve had at a restaurant. In addition, the sampler platter was amazing - everything on it was super tasty! Overall, Eric and the rest of the staff were very welcoming and helped create a positive, safe atmosphere. In addition, all of the staff were wearing mask and gloves and following strict social distancing rules, so my husband felt very safe and comfortable. We will for sure be coming back!
Great place to have dinner. Fresh Tortillas are really good and the service is always great.
Kimi was great!!
It’s the best restaurant I’ve been to since March...
This is a great spot for a quick business meeting. The food is consistently good to great and the fresh tortillas with honey butter are always a hit. They are right in the center of the Irvine airport business district so they are convenient from that standpoint as well.
This is a great place for brunch, there's even Mariachis!!
Worst experience ever. Buys night with not enough staff.
We order soup and our waiter forgot. We never had the soup. Long wait for food and once we had food, our waiter not even once asked us how was everything. Very disappointed.
It seemed they were short on staff. It took 20 min for our server to even acknowledge us.
Overall great experience, though it took long time to get dinner. They were really busy being valentine day.
Always a pleasure to spend an evening at El Torito Grill. Service from the time we walked in to the time we walked out. Food was on point and service exemplary. Thank you for a special Valentines Day.
NOT HAPPY WE ARRIVED 15 MIN EARLY. WE HAD A 1PM RESERVATION. WE WERE NOT SEATED TIL 1:17. BUFFET IS OVER AT 2PM.
Our server was fantastic
We chose this location because it’s near the airport. Restaurant was half empty. We had a large party of 10 for out of town family. Service was scant and indifferent. Some dishes were fine (fajitas), with half being luke warm. The black beans were over cooked and dry, as well as the dry chewy tortilla on the fish taco. I suspect “end of the day-last of the pot” was the issue? Not the old El Toronto Grill we used to enjoy. Maybe it was just an off night, but we’ll probably will skip this one in the future. Disappointing.
Service was poor. We had a group of 9 for a business dinner and we were the only table in the room at the time we sat down and asked for separate checks. The server said yes, but the drinks and food took a very long time. Her excuse was that she had to do separate checks so it took her a long time. Unacceptable. If she couldn’t do it she should have told us so. The food was okay but was not as described when I asked while ordering.
Our server was very pleasant, just hard to find and she rarely checked on us. We had to ask the bus boy for everything
Straightforward dining experience. Hostess was a bit off putting. Not a friendly face when you walk in.
This is a favorite and the first time we had an issue with our order taking a long time. Salmon needed to be thawed. The manager took care of us and made everything right so 5 stars overall
El Torito Grill has gone downhill with regards to food and service. The place was Almost empty for New Year’s eve. Food quality was bad. We ordered calamari for starters. It was bitter to taste. We had it taken back. Tortilla and salsa was ok. Drinks - margarita’s was tasteless. Shrimp diablo was a saving grace. Service was horrible. We asked for an extra plate for entree (to share), never got it. Our server was busy running around and did not stop by to enquire about the food or service.
El Torito Grill was one of our favorite restaurants as the food was great, service excellent and ambiance was great. Sadly, it has gone downhill and we were utterly disappointed.
The gentleman at the carving station was amazing! So kind and showed an interest in my 4 year old.
Our waiter left much to be desired. Didn’t check on us at all and never brought my coffee.
Food was inedible and overpriced, never received a water refill. This place has deteriorated beyond recognition.
Don’t know why but the hostess sat us in the bar area. Food was just ok. My dates steak was not cooked to order and was tough.
Private party no notice ! Rude
Less than 5 tables, took very long time for food (kids starving waiting for their kids meal) couldn’t even spot staff to get refill water, utensils, 20 min to get the bill, and gave up bday celebration since it took so long.
Love this place! Freshly made tortillas and food is better than any other place in town! Thanks for always being so great. A must stop if you are in the area =)
Parking garage was $8 for just over an hour. Not sure if they offered parking validation. The patio ambiance was poor. It was empty with just a couple employees in the corner. The patio heater was malfunctioning by making weird gas ignition noises. We moved inside which was better. Server was nice and fairly attentive. Ordered chicken and shrimp fajitas but the meat quality was not as good as we’ve had in the past. Love their tortillas. Compared to my last visit, the service improved. Unfortunately, the food quality and having to pay for parking was disappointing this time.
The food was delicious, and the people working the food stations were friendly and helpful. However, even though it was empty, we were seated in the bar and the bartender was not attentive at all. He only came by to take our initial order. He did not bring the waters we asked for. We had to get them ourselves. Also, he never came to give us the bill, and we asked someone else to have him bring it. Yet, it took another 20 minutes before he came by with the check. We felt totally ignored.
We enjoyed a great lunch meeting. We were served quickly, but never felt rushed for a second.
Little cold but great experience as always.
We stayed at the bar. I forgot to check in. Sorry .
The servers were amazing and the foods and drinks were excellent.
Wow this is probably the worst lunch I’ve ever had at El Torito Grill. We ordered salads and soup, very simple stuff which took 35 minutes to be served. So I’m taking this restaurant off my lunch list for a while. I had the shrimp salad with butter lettuce which was unwieldy as they don’t cut up the lettuce. My two office mates were also dissatisfied. Not sure what has happened as I’ve eaten here many times.
