red chile corn crépe, mesquite-grilled marinated skirt steak, roasted pasilla chiles, jack cheese, peruvian beans with pasilla-cilantro rice, fresh avocado relish and sweet corn cake
The set-up, the service, the food was all top level. We did not know what to expect with Covid still playing a big part in the dining experience but this was very well thought out. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be repeat customers.
I ordered the carnitas ($19.50). a Patron skinny margarita ($14.50) and a side of corn cakes. Everything was delicious and I took a "to go container" home with me. I've been dining here for nine years and have never been disappointed! The servers are friendly, as well as the rest of the staff.
We have visited this restaurant many times. We went for Sunday brunch and the food as always was terrific, but no one waited at our table and we had to go to the bar and get our own drinks. There was also a very large obnoxious group of drunks across from our table and management should have halted their alcohol servings. As much as we love the food, we are not going back again.
Food was good. Service was good. Ambience was lively but not distracting.
Really tasty fresh made guacamole! The tortilla soup, however, was quite bland.
Waiter was very busy (Veterans Day) but very attentive. Food was great, service excellent. Appreciate the free meals for veterans also. Time to put Sunday brunch back on the schedule.
Excellent service - Waiter was very attentive. Fresh tortilla were amazing.
It was a birthday dinner they forgot to sing but it’s fine overall dinner went great
Our gps took us to the wrong place and we were going to miss our reservation and the brunch. I called and spoke with the manager who was so kind and helpful and agreed to extend the brunch a little longer. We were able to arrive and enjoy a delicious and delightful brunch! Kind and caring staff! Thank you for helping us enjoy our girl’s weekend!
Best brunch outside of Vegas! Been going here for brunch for over 30 years. Hadn't been since pre-pandemic & was worried it wouldn't be the same.
It exceeded all expectations!
Taco Tuesday was awesome. The food was great and the service good.
Reservation was great to have, but the hostess walked so fast when seating, & practically threw the menus on the wobbly table. The service was very poor, everyone was so busy, that we had to keep asking for refills, more salsa & butter was brought to us for the fresh tortillas. Unfortunately, the food was cold. The only thing was maybe good was the salsas. The chips were a bit greasy and hard to chew. Very disappointing, since I came from AZ & remember El Torito being so tasty and great. Also, to get to the restaurant, you had to go up a hill with over 6 speed bumps, a bit annoying
Understaffed. Food arrived cold, burned and arrived after over an hour . Waiter is not attentive cause he has too many customers to tell to. Manager
Food was delicious - noise and screaming kids was unpleasant
Food was delicious, the service was not too great. Seems to be short staffed lately
Might have been short handed last night. Long wait for chips, long wait for forks, long wait for ordering, long wait for water refills. Had to ask front desk for things a few times. Food was fantastic. We’ll be back for sure, last night wasn’t typical in our experience
The homemade tortillas with the honey butter are amazing. Our service was not attentive forgetting refills of drinks, and acting irritated when we requested another serving set among other things. Yes, we were short one. The pineapple rice was undercooked and had no flavor.
Took us awhile to be seated even with the reservation. After seated it was about 15 minutes before someone realized we were there to even bring water or take our drink order. However, once the server came over she was fabulous and she apologized that no one had come over yet. She was friendly, courteous, and very energetic. The food and drinks were amazing.
Wonderful service, fajitas was delicious, ckn fajita salad was full of robust flavors, I will come back again, truly appreciate excellent service, it was the Bar area.
We love the El Torito Grill and will stop here whenever our travel allows. We are sad that all locations except this one has closed down. The food, especially the salsas and tortillas, are delicious and the service was fantastic. We love this place!
I’ve been going to this El Torito location with my family since a kid. I love going there, the food and service were on point.
Food was awful, was there a week before and it was good. Came back Friday and my party both ordered the fajitas with steak shrimp and chicken and was not edible. The steak was supposed to be medium rare as sever asked us how do we want it cooked and literally was so tough I couldn’t cut it with a knife. Server tried to rectify the issue and she brought us new steak but it was just as bad. The steak appears to not be made to order and almost appeared that it was similar cooked like at the fairgrounds where they cook the meat ahead of time and then let soak in hot water. I was so disappointed I paid my bill and just left. We should’ve called the manager over and told him that the food was awful but I don’t usually like to do that.
Very warm and friendly atmosphere. The service is always great. Also enjoyed the tortillas with honey butter to supplement the chips and salsa. We enjoyed our meal! Patio dining was relaxing!!
I usually love El Torito Grill in Brea. HOWEVER last night our servers perfume was overpowering to say the least and not in a good way. I almost left but instead tried to hold my breath when she came near. Who wears that much perfume and especially if you work in the food industry.
The steak in my taco was so hard and chewy it was inedible. Thankfully we had the taco trio with a carnitas taco and a chicken taco also so we had enough to eat.
I wanted to speak to someone on the way out but no one was manning the front. After waiting for a minute or two we just left.
Such a sad experience at one of my favorite restaurants
really enjoy Taco Tuesday at the grille! always a great selection of fillings and toppings and fresh made tortillas.
Date night with my sons.
Tortilla and chips great
First brunch post COVID. it was good. We enjoyed ourselves and ate way too much!
Our go to taco Tuesday place! Anyway you like it......
Nice to be back in the restaurant. Same great food and service. We like being able to make reservations also.
Taco Tuesday, they were great, a little busy, the Margarita had too much orange juice not enough patron, but the taco’s were outstanding. My favorite Al Pastor, a little greasy but so tasty.
Good happy hour for the price! Great service, food, and cocktails. ¡Qué sabrosos!
We had a great time. We went gor my nieces Birthday.
Great meal, great service, piped music a little too loud.
We started coming to this El Torito after moving to the area and have always had a good time! The food and staff never fails to make each visit a memory for us and we will continue to happily bring our business to them. Also the freshly made tortillas at each table are the kryptonite to every diet I’m on..I can never just stay away nor have just 1.
Fullest I've seen that restaurant in years. Hour wait w/o reservation! Way too loud. Tables too close together. Seemed like a lot of new staff and not enough (same as many other places!). I'm sure it will even out over time.
El Torito Grill is one of the best restaurant experiences I have had at the el Torito franchise. This is definitely a new favorite, the filet mignon enchiladas were amazing!
Great neighborhood friendly place for dining
Sooooo slow. It was an hour and a half from the time we sat down until we got our meals.
