My family and I eat out a lot and decided to try this restaurant.
The ambience and service was good but overall we found the entrees average, especially for the cost. The appetizers - empanada and ceviche were really good!
Our food was very good. The problem was with the noise level. There was a very large party in the center of the room, about 25 people taking up 2 long tables. At times we couldn't hear each other because the noise level was so high. Would go again, but the next time we'll call ahead and make sure no party!
My friends and I dined here on a Saturday night. The atmosphere was a typical Collingswood restaurant. Small, tables close together and loud. The octopus app was fantastic. It was grilled and topped with an olive sauce. I had a steak that was cooked perfectly. My friends were quite pleased with their entrees too. This said, I would be somewhat hesitant to return. There was a party of about 20 who should have gone somewhere there are private rooms. They were loud and actually standing around the table socializing. This place is way, way too small for that kind of event.
The food was good here but the service was awful. Server had zero experience. Needed more training. She Didn’t tell us about specials, we knew this because we overheard another server explain to their table. I asked about a certain dish she gave me the totally wrong discription. Our main course was brought to us then 1 minute later we were asked if we wanted dessert. Spend more time training staff. The food is great. Ceviche was fresh with tons of flavor.
The food was very good. We were a group of 8 and all the food came out the same time, which was nice. A few of us got the filet with crap meat. Great!
The food was awesome
We usually love this restaurant. My wife's lamb chops were delicious. I had skirt steak, very chewy & tough. Appetizer was great as were desserts!
We had 3 appetizers and 6 meals. Food was fantastic and service was great. Will definitely be going back.
Clean and spacious. Waiter seemed to be new but he was friendly. One appetizer, the young plantain, was hard. The other appetizer, crusted tomato with crab on top, was very good.
Main course and dessert were good.
Our waitress was obviously new. She could not pronounce the specials even with reading them.
When asked about a few items on the menu, she did not know the answers and just seemed to make something up rather than asking someone else.
I ordered iced tea from the menu, and it was fountain Nestea, not fresh brewed. Upon refill another waitress (who attended us since our wait dress never came back to check in). Gave me dress tea. 2nd refill from our waitress again was fountain Nestea, but I didn’t get a chance to tell her it was wine and she never came back again except to give us the check.
Food was fine. Out of menu items and menu was already limited.
I would say this is a one time try and never return again. There are too many otter restaurants in the area to try.
Very good food from South America, a unique cuisine not often seen here. There's a nice selection of ceviches and other appetizers. The entries are equally strong, with some very tasty stews as well as more familiar meat and fish dishes. Surrounded by Italian restaurants, El Sitio is distinctive and worth the visit.
Food was very good, very loud , hard to carry on a conversation, service was ok,should have one hostess seating you, should have one waiter handling your tables, not many waiters handling your table...
They are the best in town. I highly recommend them. Their chef is outstanding!
Food was great and priced reasonably
Food was excellent.
We were looking for something a little different for a birthday dinner and we found it at El Sitio . Not many restaurants serving Central American food in our area so this was a real treat . The ceviche is a must try , delicious and a big portion . Menu has a lot of options , something for everyone , Tuna , Lamb stew or just a plain grill chicken for that person that does not order outside the box .
I took my boyfriend out for a birthday dinner. The menu was a special 3 course offering. The price was well priced and the food was EXCELLENT. The service was perfect. Overall, I would give this restaurant a 10.
Authentic cuisine. Tasty skirt steak and chicken dish was great too! Ceviche is a nice starter. Good for date night or family get together.
This is our fourth trip to El Sitio and the food never disappoints. Being a Celiac, having Gluten Free options is a must for us to eat out.
Overall we were very pleased and plan to return. Good food.
Overall great dining experience from beginning to end. Delicious food! Would definitely recommend to everyone. My husband and I will be back to check out the outdoor dining in the Spring and Summer.
Great BYOB restaurant, prices are fair, food was delicious and server was very polite. Excellent place to try some different cuisine in a nice setting.
Excellent food in a nice atmosphere. The owner is delightful.
A wonderful experience with repeat customers and new. We all loved our tried and true dishes and we tried the specials that were delish. Our newbies said for sure El Sitio was on their “List”. Love it❤️
It was nice and quiet. Great food and service!
Lovely atmosphere, great location, easy parking, good service, delicious food, lots of options and many gluten free.
Collingswood has many fine Italian restaurants but, if you're in the mood for a different and delicious dining experience, then this is the place for you. So many good choices that you're bound to find something you'll like. Tasty empanada appetizers and delicious entrees made for an excellent late lunch with our daughter and her fiancé. I recommend the chicken stew which is unlike any stew you've had. All four of us were pleased with everything served. So skip the Italian and head to this South American restaurant that won't disappoint.
The only ones in the pretty room at lunch so we can’t tell what the environment is under normal conditions
Everyone loved the mussels and ceviches and considerable discussion ensued on this cuisine, availability etc
All seven plan to return with spouses
I took a party of 10 there for my birthday...some returners & some newbies. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food (some plates "licked" clean) & everyone agreed the place was top notch.
The filet was served on a hotstone with cheese on top and was absolutely amazing. It keeps cooking as you are eating it. The ceviche was the freshest I have had in the Philadelphia area . I will definitely be back.
We tried this restaurant on New Years Eve. We were seated fairly quickly; however the tables were really close together. The restaurant was cozy and had great ambiance, but it was very loud and difficult to talk to my partner.
A huge issue pertained to the front door that evening. Every time the door opened, a blast of cold air hit everyone sitting to that side of the restaurant. There should have been extra space heaters to compensate for the arctic blast every few minutes. Another issue is that the online menu and the physical menu entrees did not correspond, so we were forced to re-select our dining choices.
The food and appetizers were wonderful. We chose the maduro con queso y chorizo and it was served piping hot. The bread served prior to the appetizer was warm and crispy. Although our app was received within 5-10 minutes, our main entree took nearly 35 minutes to receive. I chose the Traditional Peruvian Lomo Sottado, which was wonderful aside from the french fries. In my opinion, if the fries were handmade instead of frozen, the dish would be worthy of five stars. Frozen fries were a definite disappointment. My husband had the skirt steak with the blue cheese, which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Service was a bit slow, but to be fair they were very busy. Our server was wonderful. We will definitely be back (preferably on a warmer evening)!
Made NYE reservations for 4 @ 7:30p. Seated with friends. I had no complaints regarding the wait staff. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable. We were seated at an overflow outside type metal table and obviously snuggled in a heavily trafficked area.. in line with entrance to the kitchen and restrooms. Why does this or any restaurant feel the need to do this to their customers? I would wait to not be seated near these pathways. Fortunately the servers were VERY careful with food items carried to the venue at large. The food was good, the steaks were finished to our requests. The served pasta dish was too much in quantity for the amount of sauce. The coffee was tepid for our desserts. I would visit again, for a very casual get together; not for a special occasion. The on line menu is not up to date, has an old Valentine's special occasion menu, and the NYE menu was not available. It should be correct this for any others researching the site. Kinda gives the appearance of not caring.
Always great. Hope they are successful
This is a really good neighborhood spot. Interesting South American/Latin food. Great appetizers, and usually great specials. The space is a bit Spartan, but that's not why you go there. This is Collingswood, so it's byob, which makes it very affordable.
I used to love this place. It’s not the same anymore. We were there for my fiancé birthday, I was very disappointed with the quality and the taste of the food for what we paid it was not worth it at all.
South American food at its Best!! The sampler appetizer is the Greatest flavor combo!!
Excellent evening! Delicious food!
This was my first visit to El Sitio but I will definitely be going back. This BYOB features South American cuisine. I had one of the Chef's Specials a beautiful piece of salmon stuffed with crabmeat and served over a generous portion of perfectly seasoned quinoa. That was after enjoying the Soup of the Day a Columbian Lentil Soup.
The waiter was terrific and very knowledgeable about a really ambitious menu. This is a family owned business and the owners were born in Quito Ecuador so you are getting authentic recipes.
We didn't have any children in our party but I noticed two offerings on the Kids Menu Chicken Fingers and Fries and Grilled Cheese and Fries in case you are wondering.
It was a miserable snowy Saturday night but their dining room was still 80% full around 7 PM so I definitely recommend making a reservation on Open Table. See for yourself why El Sitio was named in 25 Of The Best Restaurants In South Jersey.
Flank steak was very tender and tasty. Excellent service.
