El Quinto Pino
This winning and fresh approach has meant that El Quinto Pino has enjoyed being called “the best” and “most authentic tapas bar” over and over again since we opened in 2007.
What Insiders Are Saying
This restaurant/wine bar in Chelsea from the folks who brought you Tia Pol and Txikito delivers solid authentic Spanish eats, wine, and sangria.
Cozy neighborhood gem with nice range of tasty tapas and always a few specials for variety. Friendly service. I've dined her many times and the consistent quality and graciousness has helped EQP last in a very competitive market.
We love this local restaurant and find the ambiance transports us to another place. And the food is delicious! Our waiter knew everything about the menu and was incredibly helpful.
Always a pleasure! Everything about this place is a delight and the food is the best and most delicious tapas in town!
Recommendation would be based on experiences prior to4/7. On 4/7, No bloody mary’s (at brunch!). No limes in g&t’s. When we asked for them, we got rounds and not wedges. A request for a replacement lime wedge was ignored, as was a request for a second bottle of wine (waiter had to be chased!). Confusing menu: why have dinner specials on the board if they’re not available? Why give us hard copy dinner menus? We like you but someone was not paying attention on 4/7 (my wife’s birthday celebration!!). Suggest you pay more attention to detail. Not easy but necessary.
not a spanish tapa bar at all and food is overpriced. mediocre flavors.
Tables were too close. Food was very mediocre. Trout dish good. Cauliflower we at over cooked. They asked us to give up our table for other diners when we had barely finished meal. Sever was pleasant.
Wonderful food, friendly ( and very responsive!) service! Bravo!
The tapas were very, very small, much smaller than the portion a regular tapa or ración should be. Some were good, some were not. But for that kind of bill you can get a substantial and very pleasant meal somewhere else. The value proposition was not there.
Cozy spot with very friendly staff. Everything we had was amazing! The grilled squid is a must have!
Flavor, flavor, and more flavor! So much goodness in a great neighborhood location. Get here and enjoy
We ordered garbanzos, croquetas, the "shepherds pie" like croquetas, lamb skewers, cauliflower special and Uni Pannini and some red and white wines. The lamb and cauliflower were just OK. The rest was tasteless. The wines mediocre. They have a venue, recipes and staff but no one who knows how to cook. Service was not good either and when we spoke to the manager - there was no real response. (This is the first time I've ever given a bad review but our experience was beyond mere disappointment.)
Bottom line: I would recommend and I would go back.
What was excellent: pan con tomate, whiskey cocktails, patatas bravas, gambas, pimientos. Also really liked the atmosphere, edgy and modern, but also warm & cozy. I can see why it would be a good date spot. Feels like you've discovered something.
What was just ok: pulpo (served cold, think it should have been room temp or warm), service (took waiter a bit too long to check in on us after our meal, so by the time he came to us we weren't even in the mood to try dessert. Also found him to be a bit cold but I guess that's NYC for you)
What we didn't like: cauliflower (had an overwhelmingly fragrant flavor that was a bit off-putting)
Celebrating an art opening. Really fun, thanks!
It was lovely. Unexpected quirky retro ambiance with delicious food. A bit overpriced, but we were in NYC so to be expected. Wine was delicious red Spanish wine.
The perfect spot for delicious sangria and authentic Spanish tapas.
An excellent choice for those who have experienced Barcelona, as three of our party had. Good food brought back a flood of good memories. Marry your visit here with a stop at El Quinto's sister restaurant, Txchitos (just around the corner) for an Iberian immersion.
60 minutes for brunch dishes to arrive and there were only 3 tables seated in the restaurant.
Looking forward to my next time at El Quinto Pino. Great sangria and great portion sizes of the tapas. Ambience is great. Deliciousness all around!
Portions were too small. None of the plates I ate really stood out as being amazing. However, the service was great and the drinks were great.
Good experience overall
Loved this little nook! It was Delicious and cozy!
Charming venue! Great Food!
Great food with great quality! Really tasting almost as being in Barcelona. Just suggest to serve the ‘escslibada’ cold as this is the true traditional way. In any case all was great! Cheers! JM&Miriam
Great spot, delicious tapas
Fun. Fun. And more fun.
I have been going there for years but had not been in about 6-8 months. I was thoroughly shocked by the food and the portion size. It is completely a rip off! Very very expensive for minuscule portions and banal food. The seafood paella came on a tiny dish with 1 piece of shrimp and some mushy pasta - awful! The wine is overpriced and just dull. I used to like this place but will NEVER Return! What happened?!! I want my money back! A total waste off my time.
Great vibe- intimate spot. Vegetarian options.
This restuarant was a pleasant surprise...in a good way. My friends and I enjoyed a pitcher of sangria and ordered croquette ( totally delicious), bomba toledana( I swear it's not spicy), fideua and gamble al ajillo. Definitely did wonders for the taste bud. The portions are just right, so if you're worried about your figure, the menu does accommodate.
The setting is intimate enough for a date or dinner meeting. The staff is very knowledgeable about the dishes including the level of spiciness.
I have 6 more request to visit this restaurant. I never recommend a restaurant to my fellow foodie unless I've tried it first. This restaurant is definitely a must visit.
Negligent, ignorant, unconcerned, stingy servers; exceptionally high prices for ridiculously tiny portions; mediocre ambience. Food was average at best.
Great tapas in a casual, friendly place. Although we had booked a table we chose to sit and eat at the bar as preferred the look of that room to the restaurant. Both servers were very busy but still managed to look after everyone well.
Wow what an amazing spot. All seven tapas were perfect.
Everything was amazing! The food was delicious. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the food. We will definitely be back.
Meet a few friends. Staff was friendly and attentive. Found the food good but not exceptional. And this is tapas so you must be ready to order many plates if you are hungry.
Love the frozen drinks and tapas
The food could be a bit better- I’m a foodie- but it’s great overall.
Met three friends for our monthly dinner. Perfect spot. Food to share. All of which was delicious. Simple but great. Hard to do. Wait staff friendly and attentive. Easy to hear and be heard (critical for our group). Leisurely dinner with wine with no pressure.
Wonderful tapas—closest I’ve found in the city to those I’ve had in Spain.
Nice and cozy but too expensive . Portion too small too
Food was good but not great. Wine by the glass was good. We bought a bottle of wine that didn't measure up to the wine by the glass. I thought the waiter should have been more forthcoming about the quality of the bottle - it was obviously a lesser value. Overall, a nice date place, but more of a one time experience - just to try something different. Not going back.
The food was great but very very small portions. Great bar area, nice distance between dining tables. Service was ok.
The food was really good and interesting. Very nice restaurant. Just one quibble and that is that there is a mish mash of chairs. Our table had 4 different chairs. Not all were that comfortable.
