This is the second time that I ate here for lunch, and it is really good. I had very good food.
Absolutely delicious- would recommend any of their cheese platters or paella, and any tapas w/ shrimp.
Prefer the red sangria to rosé. The large pitcher was great to share- and lots of fruit!
It’s always an A-1 experience. A wonderful family run restaurant where good service is taken very seriously
I have been going there for years and will continue to recommend El Porron The menu is varied and never disappoints plus the wine selection is very good
I rarely give 5 stars but this restaurant is deserving
Absolutely sensational on all levels! Steak empanadas were maybe the greatest dish I've ever eaten.
I've been to many Spanish restaurants in the city, and this is far and away the best. Will certainly be back soon
Very good food and wine. Would definitely return.
Amazing food, friendly and very quick service.
El Porron is truly a unique food experience. The tapas are creative and fresh with very tasteful sauces. Always worth a trip.
Manchego just OK, the Sangria a bit sweet, but the delicious scallops/lamb rack made up for it, along with a great server.
Would recommend, but they could focus on improving on the little things.
We were two couples and are all foodies trying El Perron for the first time...and we enjoyed the delicious tapas, excellent paella, and reasonably priced very good wine. The service was friendly, helpful and attentive. Definitely will return soon.
I had lunch here and it was totally wonderful. My friend and I shared three tapas plates, for an early lunch and they were delicious. We had a salmon dish, made with a great sauce. Then we also shard a leek vegetable melange which was superb and we also had an egg pie of some sort.
The choices were wonderful and I can hardly wait to be in that neighborhood again, to have lunch. I recommend it with enthusiasm. And the tapas plates were large enough so that sharing didn't mean just one mouthful...
This place was great! Went here for a date night and the food was incredible.
Delicious and authentic Spanish food, good and friendly service, great ambiance, and a very gracious host/owner. Definitely will be back soon.
We recently moved from another neighborhood further south with an excellent Spanish restaurant - one of my favorite types - and came across El Porron online. Attracted by the good reviews, we found it lived up to everything nice the reviewers said about it. The food was delicious and the service courteous and very friendly. The menu warned that the paella dishes take 30-40 minutes, which I thought might delay the delivery of everyone's dishes, but it happened within 30 minutes with no feeling of my group sitting and waiting too long. Our pitcher of Rose Sangria was filled with fruit and delicious. We now have a new "go to" restaurant and expect to come here regularly.
The best Paella ever including the one I had in Spain.
What a delightful find in our own neighborhood. A very clean friendly attractive bar and Tapas restaurant with full sized entrees as well. The owner Mr G who meets you at the door and the waitstaff were very friendly. The food came fast and hot and everything was absolutely delicious. We had a seafood combination entree that was fantastic and highly recommended. Other great Tapas dishes were a squid dish, Manchego cheese platter and a potato dish. For dessert the Churros were hot and fresh and wonderful. We are looking forward to returning soon.
First Rate, food was excellent service was excellent overall it was a great experience
Overall great experience - a little pricey and some dishes could have been improved - overall very good
El Porron was a great choice for ambiance and delicious food for date night. Service was attentive and definitely recommend.
Unexpectedly good food - with a large number of veggie options.
Comfortable low key easy place for light dinner and drinks
Very pleasant experience. Nice wait staff. Paella Valenciana was excellent. Tried 5 tapas - artichokes were OK - too cold, grilled sardines - a bit too salty, the meatballs, squid and Callos Madrilenos were quite good.
This was our 2nd visit. We get to NYC 2-3 times a year and stay in this neighborhood. Really delicious!
This time we met friends...they too thought it was worth the trip even across town
We didn't do tapas with some picky eaters but salads and entrees were really good. We'll be back on next trip
Third visit in a row where they have run out of some tapas! Disappointing.
The service was excellent. The sangria was terrific. The tapas were good; manchego cheese, clams with tomato. The paella was OK, but i'm spoiled with good homemade paella.
Excellent food - had 6 of their Tapas. Desert was also great. Service was fantastic - super nice people. Highly recommend.
Everything was terrific. Food, service, and of course the company I was with. Been there before and will definitely be back
Met friends at El Porron for a birthday lunch. The food is excellent, terrific tapas.
Our waiter overheard that it was my fiend's birthday, and surprised us by singing HB and
with a candle on one of the best lava cakes ever.
The food was authentic and very good. My friend and I chose 4 tapas plates from a wide assortment of choices. The waiter was attentive and pleasant. The ambience was modern with a Spanish feel--tiles, etc. It was enjoyable!
Love this place! Great for groups. We always order an assortment of tapas. They will come out at appropriate times and in a logical order.
Truly mediocre tapas place. Overlooked asparagus, over-sauced and yet weak octopus and chorizo. Stick with Boqueria or any number of other places nearby.
Ordered spinach croquettes, meatballs, salmon, and scallops tapas. Except for the salmon (which was coated with an cloying sweet jam), the food didn't seem freshly made and all of it was generally not good. My date, who is not a picky eater, didn't enjoy any of the dishes and didn't partake more than a taste of each. I was famished, so I ate everything rather than change venues. Nice red wine and nice open windows mitigated the circumstances.
I was advised to try this place by my nephew who spent the past half year living in Alicante, Spain. He said the chef must have come from the region he lived in because it was JUST like his favorite tapas cafe in Alicante. He was right! It was delicious and my wife and I can't wait to go back and try the 'main course' dishes as well.
A favorite! Great place for tapas and outstanding service!
Very good food, friendly service and a quiet atmosphere. Good value! We'll be back.
Pretty spot, nice people, good service, fun food. I recommend this restaurant highly
Wonderful night. Great food. Great service. Will definitely go back on my next trip to New York.
Wonderful food and service
My favorite place on the UES. Food comes out very quickly and every bite is delicious!
The tapas are great. The octopus is a winner. The croquets are fabulous. The paella is very very good. Service is usually excellent.
Can be a bit crowded and loud but a great dining experience.
If you enjoy Spanish food, especially tapas, this is your place. We have patronized a number of tapas restaurants over the years and most disappoint. El Porron is authentic, even when the occasional dish is transformed by a foreign element. The wine list is excellent and covers the Iberic peninsula. We found table service attentive and helpful.
