   It was a Monday night and it took almost an hour to get a burrito out to me. Not a lot of people in the restaurant and said that the kitchen was backed up…. Otherwise food was ok

   I get it that restaurants are understaffed and we absolutely take that into account when dining out, but this was just ridiculous. The staff was completely unprepared for the dinner rush on a Saturday night and the wait times, watered down margaritas, and our always disappearing server made this an experience we won’t be revisiting any time in the future.

    What a bummer! We reserved a table here because of the great reviews. We were seated on the patio at a rusted out table facing a cement wall with our feet in a puddle of water. We requested another table and were moved inside. It took 20 minutes to be acknowledged. No napkins, no silverware, 2 out of 3 glasses of water served. Finally placed drink orders and dinner at the same time to help the waitress. We waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for mediocre shrimp tacos. I cannot imagine why people gave this place 5 stars?

    Our poor waitress had about 20 tables and was running around like crazy just trying to keep up. Drinks took forever and we waited an hour and a half for our food, and it wasn’t that great when it arrived. We refilled our own waters. Nobody apologized for the wait or offered any type of discount on our meal.

    Absolutely love the food here, have been coming for YESRS and it’s still the same! Service is usually pretty great. It has gotten more complicated to eat there since they joined the brunch scene - don’t love that vibe.

    I’ve been to El Mariachi a handful of times and each time 1) the food is great, 2) the ambiance is great, 3) the staff is sweet, but 4) the overall service/attentiveness is sub-par. To the point that managers will obliviously walk by tables that are clearly waiting on their server for one thing or another (usually to pay). I’ll keep coming back given #’s 1-3 but if they were able to close the gap on #4 it would be out of the park.

    I keep trying to give this spot a chance. Their food is not good, but it’s walking distance from Me, so I really want it to be good. 😂 The rice is never fresh- it’s either cold or re heated In a microwave. The carne asada is not good. Very chewy. The food really needs to get better. The music and service is good. The margaritas are super sour. The restaurant seems clean, but the food is just so bad. Unfortunately, after trying this place 4 times- I just need to stop giving it a a chance.

    Food quality was below average. I didn’t know when booking the reservation at 1:30pm that this would fall in the transition time between brunch and dinner menus. Therefore only a handful (at most) of appetizers were available to us. Typical bar food- quesadillas, taquitos, fried, none of the fresh or authentic items containing vegetables, except guacamole which we did order. The dinner menu became available at 3pm, by then we had been there 90 mins of the stated 120 min table time and “filled up” on appetizers. The “premium” margarita (pitcher) was very weak, after three glasses, it didn’t offer the equivalent of a good margarita. I try to cut restaurants slack these days, with lower staff, but the place still had several empty tables, and twice the server came for drink orders and failed to ask a couple people in our party before walking away. Sadly, my favorite part of this dining experience was sitting at the large open windows on a beautiful day. We left $200 lighter and disappointed. Also, the $20 4x6” (or 2 for $30) snapshot taken at our table- had it even been $8 or maybe $10 I would’ve considered. But $20?! For a 4x6” print that costs .50??

    our server messed up 2 of our meals. my margarita class came out completely dirty. our waters were never refilled. we asked for boxes and didn’t get them. she had to ask us if the card we gave her was our card after it already brings charged. we were there for over 2+ hours and just wanted to leave.

    I really wanted to like this place. We only got 1 drink for the 2 hours we were seated. We ordered food and our waiter abandoned us. We flagged her down after 1 hour and she said we never ordered food. Very strange. Then we approached the manager who was very little help and they tried to charge us for food and a second round of drinks that was never put in the system and never received. Tables around us were starting to get up and leave without ever receiving their food or drinks. Don’t recommend.

    Waited over 45 minutes for our food and drinks. Our food was very generic and nothing special. The bathrooms are DISGUSTING. Honestly, I would rate the experience a 2 but I would never consider coming back.

    This is one of my favorite restaurants in my neighborhood but this time was just a not great experience. Unfortunately even though we had a reservation we were seated at a table next to the bar. Our waiter was slow to take our order then we waited an hour for our food. After an hour our waiter came to check on us and admitted that he had forgotten to put our food in and had never written down our order in the first place. We were on a time crunch and had to leave without getting any dinner to eat and were just handed our $27 check for the one drink we got and guacamole without any apology. This has always been one of my favorites so I will of course be giving it another chance but this was disappointing to say the least.

    Had dinner with a friend Thursday 6PM. There was a Cubs game that afternoon, but the restaurant wasn't crowded. With the Cubs game in mind I had made a reservation (and to get my OT points). I had lemonade and my friend a margarita. We started with the queso with chorizo, corn and flour tortillas. It was delicious. My friend had the Taco Salad and me the Mariachi Salad, both were also good. Service was attentive. My only beef and it's minor is being tucked into a corner on the patio under a ledge so it was dim and didn't have a good vantage point when there were plenty of better tables. We were going to be seated at a high-top in the bar, but the sliders were closed and it felt a bit stuffy so I asked for patio. Note in my reservation I asked for outside.

    The 2 hosts at the front were very rude and unaccommodating, I called before hand to inform them that I was running late and they simply said that If I arrived after the 15minute grace period my reservation would be canceled. Upon arrival there were multiple tables open, we were sat on a table top right next to the entrance. Everyone that was walking in could see us. I will not be returning, they need better staff.

    The bottomless deal is good but the food took over an hour to come. I think they overbooked the place and were understaffed. The staff kept saying they had a lot of people there. They did not honor the brunch deal but I’m unsure if it was due to the timing of when we left but nothing was communicated to us.
