El Mansour Ratings and Reviews
We loved this restaurant. The food was amazing - I had lamb with honey and almonds. The meat was perfectly cooked, didn't even need a knife. The service was prompt and friendly. The servers also keep things pretty fun. We were there when they had live belly dancing - A very lively and energetic atmosphere, albeit pretty noisy. Would definitely recommend to someone looking for a fun, entertaining, and delicious experience.
The menu was very confusing, however the food was incredibly authentic and very delicious. Belly dancing and music, the restaurant started to fill very quickly.
Low-seating, eat with your hands, traditional Moroccan traditions such as washing your hands at the table before meal, washing your hands with water and orange blossom after the meal. Recommended.
A fantastic find! First you are taken half way around the world, then you sit down to a wonderful experience. Fresh well prepared ingredients will have you impatient for your next visit. Not one of my friends or family were disappointed after their first visit. We live a couple hours away and have been returning for 11 years. The top notch quality, service and cleanliness have never wavered. Go! You won't be sorry.
I have to say that we were somewhat disappointed with our visit to this restaurant. It was a very special occasion for us so after reading the reviews we thought that it would be the perfect place to celebrate. We sat in the restaurant for about two and half hours with just a few diners at another table. The food is not cheap but worth it for the experience. We were disappointed that we did not get to see any belly dancing that night. Our server was very pleasant and very helpful. We would like to go back another night when it is very busy to really get the Moroccan feel.
My husband and I went to El Monsour on our 2nd date when we met. It was his birthday and I decided to take him back. The place has not changed much, the ambiance is still nice and inviting and the entertainment factor is excellent. Belly dancing is so entertaining plus inviting the people in the audience is even more of a plus. I'm going to book this venue for my group go to restaurant soon.
This is a neighborhood restaurant that specializes in Moroccan food. The interior is decorated like a nomadic tent and you sit on low rise pillow like seats, it definitely gives you the nomadic vibe. The meals are complete including appetizer, bread, salad, soup, entree and dessert. Entree choices range from lamb, chicken, beef, rabbit or seafood. I have been a patron of this restaurant for 20 years and I never have been disappointed. The belly dance show is a nice added plus. This is great place to take out of town relatives or a date who want to try something new.
My biggest mistake is dining at El Mansour only 4 times in ~30 years; I don't know what I've been thinking, but after dinner there Thursday with a friend, it's pretty obvious to me what I've been missing. Aside from the wonderful ambiance and attentive service, the most amazing gift was how their food has managed to be so consistently delicious each time I've been there, starting with the first time (young, starry eyed, and new to the Big City) in 1983. We had the lamb and chicken kabob dinner. While I'm a huge lamb fan - and it was really excellent - I was bowled over by how moist, mouth-watering, and succulent the chicken was. I'll never think that boneless, skinless chicken has to be "just chicken" again. Additional bonuses are incredible value for the quality and quantity of food served, nightly entertainment (bellydancing - I just wish they would set up a tip jar), and the relatively easy (especially by City standards) street parking for out-of-towners.
Went to El Mansour with 10 people for my birthday, and it was a great party spot. When you walk in you are transported to a magical Moroccan world. The ambiance alone is worth the visit. The food is delicious and the service is fantastic. They even have a belly dancer to entertain. All-in-all we had a great time!
Hands down, this is my favorite restaurant in the city! It's such a unique experience - one which transports away from the hustle and bustle of SF to a destination of leisure. The first time I dined here was on my 18th birthday and I am constantly drawn back years later. This is a great place to catch up with friends or for date night. The restaurant is cozy and intimate, with beautiful tapestry covering the ceiling. On certain nights at a specific time, diners are graced with the presence of a belly dancer. Please participate when she beckons you! This engagement completes the Moroccan experience - leave behind any embarrassment and you're bound to have a wonderful time.
Relaxed and comfortable place, great service, warm welcome and good food. Belly dancing show was a plus, do check for its time before you head to this place. The server helped wash our hands with warm water in a traditional bucket, brought different courses at the right time and made our entire stay pleasant. Its a little on the pricier side but overall a good place to visit.
Have been here many times over the years, but am delighted each time. We are definitely foodies, and the food is of very high quality (BEST bastille!, and lamb), along w/caring, friendly service. Great value for all you get. The belly dancer manages to get people up on the floor, dancing (but only those who are game, which turns out to be a surprising number): turns into a Moroccan dance party. Comfy couches, so even little kids can relax and join in the fun: best place in the City to take a group.
We are already planning our next two visits to take family visiting from out of town. Not only was the service incredible, but they really knew about their cuisine, such an educated staff. We we're celebrating a romantic birthday and it was a perfect restaurant for a perfect night!
