We really liked the personal touch of having rose petals and a card on the table for us
I beyond love this place! The food, service, decor is 6 Star ⭐️ ! I have a problem with people not being dressed appropriate for the atmosphere or being obnoxious and super loud. There should be a dress code there. The pricing is a bit much, not inline for some of the entrees. Overall worth it on occasion to go and splurge.
Spectacular food, 20% service charge aside from the expected gratuity is a major negative.
Ok wine selection. Much better choice by the bottle than by the glass.
Awesome restaurant absolutely no complaints will be returning for sure.
This is the 2nd time I have dined at El Gaucho and this was as amazing as before. Celebrating our anniversary, the table was decorated with rose petals and a wonderful card thanking us for celebrating there. Now, the food... a perfect bone in NY steak & a filet with crab. A delicious risotto followed up with a table side making of bananas foster.
Great atmosphere prompt seating at the time of the reservation, excellent steak,I'll be going back soon.
The service was excellent, the ambiance is beautiful, the food is good. It is pretty expensive so better for special occasions.
Amazing dining experience for my Wife’s birthday! Our filet mignon was cooked perfectly.
Everything was excellent, a great place for special occasions!
Never had a bad meal or disappointing service. Love this restaurant. Only complaint is too noisy.
It was my daughters birthday and her first time eating there. She was impressed by the promptness and attention to detail. The service was beyond reproach, our waitress was perfect. The food was great as usual.
Sad to say this was the last time that we eating at El Gaucho restaurant we are relocating to a different area of the country . We are really going to miss this restaurant .
Very special treat for my birthday Boyfriend. He’s never been to such a nice place before!! Loved it.
Always an A+ consistently the best food , service and atmosphere of any resteraunt around
Overall experience was good. Erin made our experience delightful. Only drawback to evening was my wife's sea bass was over cooked a little. We will be back again.
Perfect steakhouse in every way. Dark, live piano, vibrant bar scene, impeccable service, and phenomenal food. Tacoma’s place to be and be seen. If on a budget, happy hour in the bar is great. The bartenders are courteous, friendly, and never stuffy. Happy hour menu offers a good sampling of the menu in smaller shareable portions. But dinner in the dining room is where it’s at. Our server was prompt, funny, and made excellent recommendations. El Gaucho is the ONLY place to go for great steak in Tacoma.
Both steaks over-cooked. Lot of $ for below avg meal.
We had escargot and that was delicious. We each had a steak, I had the grass-fed and we shared Mac and cheese. It was very tasty. The complimentary cheese/fruit tray was nice. Not enough croutons to finish the cheese though. The crème brûlée was disappointing though. It wasn’t silky smooth like I expected it to be and the taste was just ok. Nothing sensational. It was fun to experience this fancy place but it’s really not something we can afford everyday. I would go other places.
It was my boyfriends birthday so I made a reservation. When I walked in I was in awe. We enjoyed a lovely meal with lovely piano music. The restaurant had a hand written birthday card and rose petals waiting for us on our table. Worth the high prices! The best steak we have ever had. We will be back again.
Always first class food, service and ambiance....everything else is outstanding!
We had our 18th Anniversary dinner at El Gaucho on Friday night. We were greeted with a "Happy Anniversary" multiple times by the staff. There was also a fun little surprise at our table when we were seated. I won't spoil it for anyone else who goes there for their anniversary for the first time.
My filet was amazing. I'm a huge fan of steak that practically melts in my mouth. My wife had the halibut special and she really enjoyed it. We shared a piece of key lime pie for dessert. It plenty big enough to share and we both really enjoyed it.
The piano music was loud, but not dance club loud. It contributed to everyone talking under the music instead of over it and each other. We could have a quiet conversation without having to listen to the people at the table next to us. The restaurant had just put up their Christmas decorations and that added to the festive atmosphere.
This was our first time at El Gaucho, but we will return. We are Central Pierce County residents and it is great to know that we can go out to a dinner this good without having to drive to Seattle or Bellevue.
Thank you to the El Gaucho staff for providing a great dining experience for our Anniversary.
Awesome service the staff really made our anniversary night feel special. Food was amazing and the table side dishes are worth it. Probably wouldn't get drinks here but that's just me.
The food and the service was outstanding as always. Highly recommend the chateau briand.
I took a friend there Saturday evening for her birthday. The atmosphere, food, and especially the service, were exceptional! I will definitely be going back to the Tacoma El Goucho.
Great for a special occasion where you feel okay about high prices.
Most of the food was good, but nothing was great and one steak was bad and should have been sent back (embarrassment kept that from happening). Everything was ridiculously overpriced. The place was far noisier than I remember it being. The entry area at the top of the stairs was dirty, with scraps of paper on the floor.
The food and service were excellent. The waitress spent time to explain the menu and specials. She wad very attentive. Gret experince.
The Steaks were excellent, just the right char. We had two waiters and my water never got under halfway empty. Service was excellent. Great for a special occasion. Can get very expensive though
Staff was fantastic! The old school feel with the piano player, staff that are patron focused with a very good variety on the menu. Food, while delicious, was a little salty. The cost vs the product....not sure I would spend that much again.
Great service and good food are lots
Gaucho is like the old school steak places in New York, but with a little-nuance to the service. The tableside cooking is lots of fun. We had the Flaming Sword Brochette of Tenderloin. Next time we will also do the Ceasar Salad (prepared tableside). Food is excellent. Attentive wait staff. Killer martinis. Impressive wine list. And the live piano helped us feel like we were back home.
We celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary by trying El Goucho for the first time. We were not disappointed. It was stellar in every way, from the atmosphere, to the server, to the deliciously prepared food. We will be repeat customers for sure.
Great, classy restaurant. Decor reminds me of 1940s high-end restaurant. Service was amazing. Food was more traditional, but cooked to perfection. Wine list and advice are the best we have found in the area. We’ll be back.
Was disappointed at the service the night. Everyone was there either before or after the Garth Brooks concert so no surprise that it would be busy. Service was slow, food came out cold (was replaced immediately once server came by), but overall felt was understaffed for the price of the meal and I have had better times there in the past and didnt mind paying the price of the meal.
Disappointed and will not return. Restaurant was crowded, noisy, not relaxing and not romantic. Come here for a good steak, but go somewhere else to celebrate with the ones you love. Next time we'll just go to Stanley's.
I was looking for a special place to eat dinner with my husband and a good friend (whom we were treating to dinner and the Garth Brooks concert). Made a reservation at El Gaucho based on reviews and it did not disappoint! Dinner was fabulous and the service was wonderful - friendly and unpretentious. We made reservations for 4:30, but arrived early and were seated at 4:00. The timing was perfect - we were seated a half hour before the pre-concert dinner rush which started at 4:30 or so, and we and were able to have a leisurely and enjoyable dinner and then walk to the concert in plenty of time for the 7:30 start.
Always great service from the El Gaucho staff!!! They say it's the little things that count well here the details matter, no water glass was left empty. Food was cooked to order just right.
Kevin was wonderful. For somebody only working there for five days, he made my wife’s birthday special
The food and service was impressive and I loved the darker lighting. Great for our anniversary dinner
I accidentally made the reservation for the wrong night. The host was very accommodating and had us promptly seated. Very much appreciated the help on fixing my mistake!
