Amazing food experience, always. Perfectly cooked steaks.
Absolutely the best
Wonderful first visit to El Gaucho - definitely lived up to the great things I've heard about it for years. Thank you!
As always...great service, delicious food and love the ambiance!
Have been to both Seattle and Tacoma el Gaucho. By far the Tacoma one has better service and attention to patrons than Seattle. In Tacoma, our water glasses were never more than 1/4 empty. At Seattle, we had to ask for water multiple times. Unsure if it because they are guaranteed 20% service charge in Seattle or not. We were there when they opened so they were not busy at the time.
Amazing doesn’t even cover it. It was a dinner experience we will never forget. Thank you!!
My wife and I spent the weekend in Seattle and stayed at the El Gaucho Inn. We made dinner reservations for Saturday evening at the restaurant. Simply amazing! The atmosphere, staff, food and setting are all top notch! This is definitely an upscale place and the prices reflect that. But don't let that deter you. The quality of the food is unquestionably above average. We'll definitely stop by again when we're in Seattle!
First Class.......Great attention to detail and the food was amazing!
Fantastic service and great environment. The food was awesome and I really enjoyed every minute of my experience there. I am definitely coming back.
The food was excellent - the menu is filled with familiar good eats, but they are all made with quality ingredients. The service was great - we loved the rose petals on the table. Unfortunately it very noisy and hard to carry on a conversation.
Really excellent service, excellent food, pricey but worth it.
Just excellent. Food great. Wine great. Waiter great salad great.
We began the evening at the bar with a few drinks. The blueberry drop, similar to a lemon drop was absolutely fantastic. The talented pianist soothed us with tunes to ease the week away and added to the ambience, along with relaxing dimly lit lighting . We were nestled in for a relaxing dinner experience to celebrate a birthday.
After the table was ready for reservations, our waiter was the most gracious, and knowledgeable staff who spent an incredible amount of time making sure we were cared for and catered too. For that price point we really appreciated not only the quality of the food, but the quality of the staff. It’s well worth every penny and you walk away feeling spoiled and satisfied.
Service was amazing as usual! We love it
Phenomenal experience from start to finish! Mouth-watering food, excellent service, and perfect ambiance.
I come here fairly often and always enjoy it. This time we sat at the bar and the the incomparable Jason serving us. He is always engaging and friendly! love this place. I will be back in two weeks and, who knows how more times in the coming months.
The service was excellent, the steak was done very well, but the automatic 20% gratuity ruined what could have been a higher rating. I understand that automatic gratuities for groups of 8 or more are fine, but for 2 people? Not exactly impressed with that. I always tip accordingly and would rather see the servers get the full tip instead of having an automatic tip shared with the restaurant. That policy needs to improve. I frequent a lot of higher end restaurants and have never seen automatic gratuities on parties of 2. Disappointed with that.
We always have such a wonderful time at El Gaucho. The food, service and ambiance are all stellar. We haven’t found anything to best it.
Everything was perfect! No complaints. Our waiter was very nice, helpful and made our experience wonderful! I can’t rmemeber his name but it was he was a Hispanic man!
Server basically ignored us but food was good
Most of the fine steakhouses in Seattle will deliver a very good steak. So what I'm trying to buy is over-the-top service to go along with my wonderful meal. It's about the experience, not just the food. El Gaucho failed in both categories.
While my baked potato was great, my tasty wedge salad was the smallest I've seen in years. My steak was so not "melt in your mouth" that you expect for $45 ... and overdone. And the neat bourbon I started with couldn't have been an ounce ... far less than the ounce and a half one normally sees at a steakhouse for $16!
Finally, the server, while pleasant, was inattentive and could be seen bussing dishes and making salads while we waited forever to order dessert and get the check.
The Seattle restaurant scene is suffering everywhere from the lack of good people.
Food was OK. Service not great. Overpriced. Too much hype. Not worth the value
Really cool place. Dark and romantic
The food was amazing, the service was great, the only thing that was a downer was how tight the seating was. We felt like we were sitting on top of other guests.
Feels like a little classic NYC in the middle of Seattle. Wonderful service! Table side salads and flaming desserts combined with the great steaks and candlelight take you back to time when elegant dining was king.
The flaming dishes made for great theater. I asked our server to explain the steps he took in creating our Bananas Foster. Very personable and fun.
Service was overly slow. We waited to be seated, waited to order drinks, waited to order food, and waited to order dessert. A lot of waiting. The food was great, one fillet over cooked, but promptly replaced with a perfect medium rare. If the pace of service was better this would have been five stars.
The service and the food were exceptional.
We had an excellent service. Oka (I hope I didn't butcher his name) was patient and attentive to our table! Steak was cooked perfect to order and had perfect marbling all over. Would definitely recommend this place!
What a beautiful dining experience! Food, service, ambiance all exceptional. Very romantic
ElGaucho is always our favorite place to celebrate a special occasion. Can’t beat the food, service, and love the classy yet vintage, low light atmosphere with Piano music.
Exceptional service from the moment we arrived and were greeted by the host staff, leading us to our table with thoughtful alacrity and a tiny flashlight! Kudos to the staff for providing flashlights with every menu! We ordered a half-dozen oysters to start—the Cottage Bay were my favorites, with a creamy lemony finish. The Insane Truffle Soup was deeply truffled, with a smooth texture and perfectly cooked mushrooms (more of a sauce than a soup, but terrific flavor). The Wedge salad could be a meal of its own, with at least a half ounce of dark bleu cheese. The Caesar salad was crisp and the dressing leant just the right measure of anchovy and lemon. The Lamb T-Bone created a several-second-silence of closed-eyed ecstasy, with the perfect marinade complement. I ordered my steak medium, but next time I will go medium rare. The edges were too done for my taste, but fortunately, it suited my table mate perfectly. The finish of fruit, nuts, and cheese as a dish of appreciation is lovely, though I wanted a choice of a non-bleu instead. My table mate very much enjoyed the cheesecake dessert and the Moscow Mule accompaniment. The table-side fiery displays are the exciting, though too showy for our taste. Definitely an impressive part of a romantic evening or business dinner. The only downside of our visit was that on the night we went (8p on December 21), it was very loud. Lots of holiday gatherings, and the Christmas music was almost blaring, making ordering challenging and table conversation difficult. Fortunately, service was efficient yet we felt completely invited to linger as long as we liked. This was our 36th Christmas together, and we decided to treat ourselves to a room along with dinner. It could well become a tradition!
We have a tradition of of spending time in downtown Seattle during the holidays, and always have included El Gaucho over the years. Our most recent visit in December 2017 was for the first time disappointing. Not overly crowded, but nevertheless a more apathetic approach by staff. Weak drinks, slow service, not near as much catering as has been typical, and food served late and cool. Once we received the bill, it became clear why. Seattle/Washington allows the merchant to add a "service charge" of 20% that they keep 100% of in lieu of tipping. This has always been reserved for parties of 8 or more in my experience and 18%. At any rate, the servers and staff no longer have to "earn" their tips, and the overall experience suffers accordingly. At the amounts El Gaucho charges for their food and drink, the service is expected to be impeccable. Unfortunately, the socialized and mandated tipping process now in place obviously inhibits the service and experience we used to enjoy at this restaurant.
Fantastic as always. The food is consistently good and the wait staff are polite and attentive. Our go to spot for fine dining and...the hotel is divine too.
This is one of the few Seattle restaurants that are old-style, classic fine dining places. Excellent food, highly trained staff delivers perfect service. Expensive, but the fine ambiance and outstanding service staff and food quality have a cost, too. The house was full when we arrived, our table was ready on time for our 7:15 reservation. The tuxedo'ed staff looks very smart, compared to a very low level of dress among the patrons. People were there wearing sweatshirts and tee shirts but a few were nicely turned out in jackets and cocktail dresses - amazing how the public standards have slipped in a very fine restaurant. Side note - Canlis still has a patron's dress code to maintain their ambiance. I would have given El Gaucho 5 stars except the noise level was very high; their piano player is great and makes for a nice evening but when the very mediocre singer begins the amplified sound is too much and the "entertainment" becomes a negative. Free valet parking is a very nice touch.
Fantastic dinner! Every aspect of the service and the meal were perfect. A great place to have a Christmas dinner with business associates.
Fabulous Caesar salad. The filet was very good but not great. Very hard to hear.
Great service. I ordered filet medium rare , and it was close to well done. I was disappointed.
