El Gaucho - Bellevue Ratings and Reviews
They provided the most unique touch to help me celebrate my fiancee's birthday. The fact that several servers stopped to tell her "Happy Birthday!" as we were being seated already blew us away. To see the other personal touches (no spoilers) they added truly made the night memorable. Collectively, all the servers were extremely accommodating and just flat out awesome.
If you really want to create a special, feel-good, moment, set a reservation at EG's!
Used to be our favorite place but they have been seriously slipping lately. Tonight was our “let’s try one more time” night & it was a disappointment again.
We will not be back.
Hair in salad...no biggie, kept giving it a chance.
Floor manager (where the problem is) came by and said, “sorry about that hair in your salad but it looks like you have enough food”. Um yeah....thanks🤔
We continued on...had a good evening. Last nail in coffin was they snuck a 20% tip on our tab. We FULLY planned on taking care of our waiter (who was awesome) but to sneak this in on a table for two was pathetic.
Bye bye El Goucho!
What makes a restaurant an event and not just a meal is the care of good service that comes with it. El Gaucho made repeatedly sure that our experience was flawless. We are only in Seattle for our toddler to receive chemotherapy and radiation at Seattle Children’s. We are here for a surprise 6-9 months and can’t wait to get home and be normal. But this is a marathon, not a sprint, so we are trying to recharge where we can. On my birthday, it meant going out. Going out with the kids, since we don’t know anyone who the kids would be comfortable with. There is no way, of course, that the staff could know all this, but they were doubly kind to us; the manager thanked us for bringing our two little polite (but noisy) kids and said he thought it was neat to see. The waiter actually bought our desserts. The food, also, was cooked the way I (a foodie) would cook it at home—with attention to each and every dish and sauce. It was delicious.
Highly recommend as a place to go when you DEFINITELY don’t want to be disappointed. They will take good care of you.
The restaurant was very good, and the food and service excellent. Why just a three star rating?
At the end of the meal, when presented the check we were told that they added 20% to the bill as a tip. (I am sure it was in the menu somewhere, but I didn't study it.) I was told could add more if I wanted. I have only seen this when having big groups (which I understand and agree with) and in Seattle with their $15.00 minimum wage.
I don't believe that 20% goes to the wait staff directly, and I don't appreciate being told what to tip. BTW, the wait staff would have gotten their 20% as they were very good.
But I am not coming back. There are plenty of other good restaurants on the Eastside that don't force a tip on me. If your restaurant wants to make more money raise your prices.
Restaurant was quite loud. Despite early reservations for a very special occasion, we received a poor location. The food was good, but not as good as the prices warrant. Service was usually attentive, but perhaps a bit overbearing at times. Highly recommended "signature dishes" we not that great.
El Gaucho has an incredible staff waiting on your hand and foot. Our server, Dominic, was personable and engaging and provided excellent recommendations for wine and whiskey as well as his favorite entrees.
The only thing that was off about our experience was probably due to the VIP table next to us. I cannot confirm they are VIP other than the attention they got from everyone who worked at El Gaucho. Some of the dishes we ordered went to the VIP table prior to us, despite ordering earlier. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, but at 7pm we were ravenous after a 15 mile hike and not eating all day.
Had a great experience! Janelle, our server was so cute and beyond helpful with my boyfriends dietary restrictions. Our captain Nels made an excellent wine pairing recommendation and even found vegan butter to make vegan bananas foster. Perfect night- thank you El Gaucho Bellevue!
This was our first time at the Bellevue El Gaucho's. We have gone to the Tacoma El Gaucho's in the past. The service was impeccable. Our server was very attentive without rushing us. The food was amazing. We brought home leftovers that we are looking forward to eating another night. We love the live piano music playing in the background. Very classy. Tonight we celebrated my husbands birthday. It is always tough to celebrate his birthday so close to Christmas, but it is nice to see how pretty the restaurant was decorated for the holidays. We will definitely be back.
Service was hands-down above par and always felt taken care of. The food portion sizes were decent and taste was good. The table-side salads and desserts add to the fun and experience! While I didn't really have room for dessert was glad we ordered some.
While this is not a place we would dine on regular occasion, we will be back for another special occasion in the future.
Two of the three valet attendants did not acknowledge us upon entering the restaurant. The one gentleman who did, opened the door for us. Walking to up to the host/hostess desk, the gentleman at the computer looked at us but did not greet us or ask if he could help us. The three ladies behind him all greeted us. I had to initiate the conversation with the host to let him know we had a reservation. Those were the only two instances that were, not necessarily negative, but not the standard that the rest of our evening had been presented to us. Our server was fantastic and knowledgeable about the menu. I will recommend and I will be back.
Had a wonderful 70th birthday at your Bellevue restaurant. Manny was a lovely server at table 97.
Only disappointment was that although everyone knew that we were there for my milestone event, you’d think that there’d be a courtesy to offer a slice of cake with a candle or even some chocolates. Some offering to acknowledge this day.
Especially since we’ve been good customers with El Gaucho for at least a decade.
Any thoughts? Was this just something that was overlooked by Manny or is it your policy to not offer these courtesies?
If not, I’d suggest your restaurants go the extra mile for patrons, especially since they have chosen to celebrate their special events in your place.
We had the best server that made our evening top notch... his name was Manny. If you want excellent service and a very fun, professional and personable server, request Manny. Also request a booth. That is the best seating. Excellent food, service and atmosphere all around.
