El Gaucho - Bellevue Ratings and Reviews
My first time there and very pleased by the friendliness of the staff. Very engaging and went the extra mile to explain menu items to the friends that were with me. Very nice atmosphere and I would go again in a heartbeat. My lady friends would to0 as long as I bought :-)
El gaucho for an expensive steak is good. But DO NOT ORDER THE SALMON! I ordered the salmon 'rare, med rare' and it came out well done. The veggies 'corn and zuchinni' underneath were overcooked. For $35, not good. I returned the salmon and it came out again. Pretty much raw. I ate it as I needed to get on with my business meeting and the manager gave me asparagus instead, but still, way overpriced for bad salmon. I do love El Gaucho, but stick to the steaks.
Disappointing for the price. For $250 for 3 people, I expect excellent service. Water was not refilled, we sat with empty plates for 15 mins X3. 3 hours to eat dinner. There are better restaurants in the area with better service for similar or less money.
Disappointing. Won't return.
We were taken very well care of! Did not think the quality of food matched the large price tag, but the meal did taste very good. The only critique I would give is that the cheese, nut and fruit platter (which was complimentary and a nice gesture) was hard to enjoy, We had to crack our own nuts-which made a mess and we didn't get much nut out of them and there was no place (except on my china plate) to cut the whole apple and pear. A cutting board (or pre-sliced fruit)and perhaps a few already cracked nuts would have made the experience more enjoyable-but again, it was complimentary, so we were excited to get it at all. Thanks-
We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary in the beautiful Destiny Ridge room. The room with its large round table is perfect for 8 to 12 people. Our servers were exceptional and the food was timed perfectly. We were all very happy with the appetizers that we chose. The oysters were excellent, the scallops were perfectly prepared. Two of us had the hazel nut rack of lamb, and the rest had steaks. The presentation was a Wow. One chop of rack of lamb was a little well done, and the server corrected it immediately. Couldn't be happier. A perfect place for a celebration or any time. We will definitely go back! Thank you El Gaucho!
Great experience - we went for our anniversary, and was amazing from beginning to end. When we walked in we were met with a smile and "Happy Anniversary!" from the hostess. When we got to our table it was all ready with red rose petals and a nice anniversary card signed by the team. What a nice touch! The waiter, Victor, also greeted us with anniversary wishes. He was attentive (but not too attentive :-)) and very knowledgeable about the menu. We enjoyed dinner thoroughly and table side flaming Cherries Jubilee for dessert that was to die for!
I usually go to El Gaucho in Seattle, which I love.
Tonight we decided to go to the Bellevue location for the first time. I would not recommend this location. There was a large party on the upstairs level who kept yelling and screaming throughout our dinner. They where shouting like they were at a football game and perhaps they were watching a game on their phones. However, it was very inappropriate for this type of restaurant, and the wait staff did not appear to care.
El Gaucho was very good. It was a great choice for my one year anniversary. We had a great night. The service was great, our wonderful server did a fantastic job. Food was good(not great) however the steak portions are very small even for the larger size and the additions to the steak are minimal. They were wonderful and gave us free cheesecake for our anniversary. I had Halibut although slightly pricier then other places it was good and worth it for the environment. The only issue i ran into was when we first arrived. One of our forks was very very dirty, it was so dirty it even had left over food on it. Also one of our plates had either water marks from poorly dryer quality or soap. This wasn't a major deal however because i mentioned it to the server and she quickly took care of the mishap and got us our drinks promptly which made up for the fork and plate we hadn't even needed to use yet. Over all a great place to have dinner for your anniversary or just take someone out on a date. I would give it a 4.5 / 5 stars.
If one lives or works in downtown Bellevue then you have probably already been here on the recommendation of a friend. Nice range of options for those who don't want steak and really good steak for those who do. There are an increasing number of good places in downtown Bellevue to go for a drink, after work, or a meal. Three things set this restaurant apart--the live piano music (really good and appreciated), the overall high quality of the wait staff--from the moment one is greeted forward, and the club membership.
