El Gaucho - Bellevue Ratings and Reviews
Visited here in 2012 had the best meal ever. Traveled the US in search of a better stake dinner. Have never found one that does it better. So made plans to revisit to insure it is still the best in the US. And wouldn’t you know 5 years latter it’s still number 1 on my list.
Love this place.
We have always had great experiences at El Gaucho, but this was the first time there's ever been an issue - a lot of big parties/kitchen in the weeds kept the waitstaff occupied and there was a pretty significant delay getting our entrees to the table. Our waiter was very apologetic and took the price of the appetizers off the bill - worked hard to make it right. In all other respects, our experience was great - even rose petals on the table for our anniversary. We really like the restaurant and know that this was just a hiccup in what is normally excellent service.
We loved the live piano playing during our meal - the tunes were an eclectic mix and beautifully done. I know it's not food-related but it was my favorite part of our visit!
The food was good. I had a Dungeness crab cocktail - yum! Our steaks, shared scalloped potatoes, and wine were wonderful, as was the service. Even though we were full and passed on dessert, we were offered a lovely fruit and cheese platter after our meal. The bleu cheese was fabulous and I only wish I could have eaten more!
The noise level was a bit high for a romantic meal like ours but the rest of the ambiance was lovely with a soft, warm golden glow permeating the restaurant.
I came here for Seattle Restaurant Week: 3 course dinner for $33. My spouse and I were excited to try this restaurant for such a great deal. However our waiter advised us that the Bellevue location was not part of Seattle Restaurant week? Nowhere was this specified online which was a major disappointment. Prices are unrealistic. We walked out of there spending $200 including a nice tip for a two person meal... the food was amazing but not $200 amazing.. that’s a car payment..
The restaurant was breathtaking from the waiters in tuxedos to the the piano music. The free bread and fruit with nuts and cheese was a nice perk, but didn’t make up for the prices. My meal was delicious, however I kept finding small pieces of shrimp shells in my noodle dish.
Great, fun and memorable night . Thank you. We will definitely be back. I wanted to give my boyfriend a pre birthday surprise and he got it . He loves El Gaucho but he has never been to the one in Bellevue. We had a fabulous time and the service and atmosphere was amazing .
It was a little crowded at 7pm on a Tue, but thinned out at 8pm. Service was impeccable. There were rose petals strewn over our reserved table and a card signed by most of the waiting staff for the birthday we were celebrating. The beef tartare was made at our table, delicious. The steaks were at the right temperatures, rare was nicely seared on the outside. Filets and New Yorks were all tasty and flavorful. Sides were adequate. The bananas foster was a delightful end to the meal. Stacey was our server, and she did a wonderful job to make it a memorable evening.
It seems next to impossible to find a significant flaw with El Gaucho. Larry the floor captain is large and in charge as the service is a remarkable experience. We brought my mother in law here who comes from the supper club and fine dining era gone by. Not only was she not disappointed as someone who served and sat on both sides of the table, she can’t stop talking about the service and experience.
Thank you Larry
Historically, the Seattle El Gaucho never disappointed, which is why we chose Bellevue for our son's 16th birthday. Our table was decorated with some pretty yellow rose petals and a card had been signed by the staff which was an excellent touch. Our server was quite pleasant, understood the menu and did an excellent job. The dining room was just too loud to hear each other - even the teenagers couldn't hear - it wasn't our age. The appetizer selection seemed very minimal. Once we had our appetizers, there was an extremely long wait for our salads. Our server apologized, and explained there was a back up for the tableside service. This seems ridiculous. The salads were finally made, but we were shorted one. I didn't bother mentioning as I was running out of patience. We then waited quite a while for our main course, again with an apology. We had one filet, three petite filets, One French rib chop and one salmon. The salmon was undercooked in the middle and the brussel sprout plate was extremely hot which leads me to believe it had been sitting for a while. I was given a small cheese plate to enjoy while I waited for my salmon to be cooked a bit longer, but really wanted to save my appetite for the fish. It came back almost cooked through. We skipped dessert as it seemed like the night wasn't going to improve. We were given the salmon on the house as it was not to my satisfaction or our servers. He was quite polite and did the best he could as his hands seemed a bit tied by the kitchen and the pantry. Seems like far too expensive to be even a little disappointed.
Good food, great atmosphere and awesome service. Tableside Caesar was great and fun to see prepared. Steak El Gaucho wasn't worth another $22 over the regular $52 8oz filet for an ounce of lobster, a tablespoon of béarnaise and 2oz of asparagus. Crab cake starter and bourbon chocolate cake were good. Manhattan was well made and a generous pour.
We really enjoyed our experience here! The food was delicious and we had a very professional and non-chatty server. The live piano playing was an added plus. Room is dimly lighted and makes for a romantic atmosphere. Portions are much bigger than I expected and we ordered more than we could finish. In my reservation I said it was our anniversary and when we arrived there were red rose petals on our table and a card signed by all of the Staff. -Such a thoughtful touch! We will definitely be going back the next time we have a big celebration. Pricy $$$, and we knew that going into it, but so worth it for how good the whole experience was. Five Stars.
