Our group of six women thoroughly enjoyed the Flamenco show then dinner. We split some appetizers and then an entre and really could have just been satisfied with just the tapas. Particularly enjoyed the fried avocado , brussel sprouts, and cauliflower appetizers. What a fun experience! Then we stopped by the bar on our way out and there was an outstanding band; could have stayed there for hours.
Food is always good. Not too crowded in seating. Good service.
Went early and the restaurant was not crowded, so quiet. Service was attentive and the selections were excellent.
Helpful staff in making reservations and we enjoyed the food and ambiance. However, sun was in our eyes at beginning of dinner and no separate checks provided for a party of 8.
A very lively, upbeat place. Entertainment on a Friday night started at 9. Although it is a tapas restaurant, the menu also offers single entrees.
Loved the tapas!!! Best ever! And here’s a photo of our award winning Pastel de chocolate, an olive oil cake with apricot and hazelnut dessert!
Adored the food, service, and restaurant on the whole. Could do without the blues jam.
Fantastic from start to finish. Shane, the Executive Chef, has created a masterpiece of a menu. Alcachofas,
Patatas bravas, chicharrones and gambas were a delicious combination and paired beautifully with the Branzino (the best I’ve tasted). Everyone enjoyed the Sangria and delectable desserts. Wait staff was attentive, courteous and professional. Michael is wonderful! El Farol is my new favorite in Santa Fe.
Nice menu and wine list and good food! We had tapas type lunch in the bar — enjoyed it!
The salad, branzino and filet were all incredible! Fun atmosphere with live music. Friendly server. I took off one star off service only because he was overwhelmed with too many tables and when we got our drinks after a long wait, he brought the wrong one. Would definitely return!
Highly recommend the dinner and show on Saturdays. Excellent!!!!!
Great choices of Tapas..Nice atmosphere , ws disappointed that we were not able to attend the Flamenko show ....told it is 3 weeks sold out and only on Saturdays..Food was very flavorful !!
Jose, our server, took good care to make us happy- that’s not easy with five diners.
The two women who backed him up were very detail-oriented... filling water glasses and clearing used dishes.
The food was very flavorful. The menu is diverse with something for everyone, from vegan to paleo.
Cocktails were generous pours. Small, but well selected wine list.
The recent renovation freshened up this iconic Canyon Road space without sacrificing its historical integrity.
We loved our evening!
Love El Farol...atmosphere is great...live music...outstanding food...it’s a Santa Fe must-do!!
The food was good, not great, but that was fine because we also came for the blues jam which we really enjoyed.
Visiting and enjoying Flamenco dancing experience for the first time.
Food is really good, service great...we did not like where the table was situated, it was stuffy and cramped and I would specifically ask to be seated elsewhere upon return
Back in the corner behind the stage
This is a tough review to write. My daughters and I visited Santa Fe for a spring break trip. I booked the flamenco dinner show a couple months in advance. Despite the fact that we showed up on time for our reservation and many tables were free, we were placed at the table furthest from the stage, all the way in the back and off to the side. Then the restaurant proceeded to seat not one but two groups containing a least one extremely large person per group right in front of us. So our view of the performance (which was received very well by the people who could see it) was minimal at best. With that said, the food was actually very good and fairly priced. The service was almost too good...geez you don’t have to refill my water glass every two sips...give me some privacy. The last insult to injury however was that they calculated tax and tip not just on the food and beverage but also on the $25 per head cover charge which basically amounted to them claiming I should leave $15 in tax and $40 in tip on a $95 dollar dinner. Never again.
Good time at the El Flamenco show. Good food, drinks and service. Some seating is better than others wrt view of stage.
Would STRONGLY recommend el Farol. If you're there on a Saturday, you absolutely must sign up for the Flamenco dancing. Be advised they like you there at 630pm for the 8pm show.
Although the bar/wait staff messed up not once, but twice on bringing us the correct margarita, the food more than made up for the error. I love the food here! The bar is nice, and no longer what I used to consider a biker bar. The wait staff was extremely attentive, friendly and not in any way condescending. I would return as frequently as possible.
A very enjoyable evening, the food was fantastic and the service was great. It is a very fine restaurant.
Phenomenal service and excellent food. We had a truly lovely meal. Just before we ordered dessert the live music started and it was unbelievably loud: we could no longer talk. That was the only down side, and it didn't start until 9pm.
I ate at El Farol ten years ago while on a trip with my daughter and have been talking about it ever since. Finally had a chance to visit Santa Fe with my husband and was so pleased when he loved this restaurant as much as I did.
Joseph, our server, was very helpful and attentive. The food was amazing, especially my husband's filet.
Can't wait to have a chance to go back.
The paella was amazing, filet mignon perfect, appetizers innovative and wonderful, dessert was perfection! Our waiter was attentive to the right degree and very informative. We heartily recommend El Farol.
What a great place now. The new ownership has made a sea-change and for the better. It has moved to the top of our list as “locals”.
Great place — but crude management. Ruined my wife’s birthday.
Great experience - food and service were wonderful. The only thing we didn’t enjoy was sitting next to the sliding doors to the next restaurant. The doors kept opening with people constantly walking in and out. That was distracting. Other than that, the experience was a good one!
We were 5 people and only one cocktail and it still came to $300 + tip so it's pricey but the Pastry Chef is fabulous. Desserts were astonishingly good. No make that great. Original and delectable. The Raisin Cake is addictive. We'll go back but for Lunch (we're Artists not Bankers). Congratulations to the new owners for giving this neighborhood icon a new Life.
We just ate from the tapas menu. Everything was great. Especially the grilled artichokes, which were compliments of the chef. The service staff was attentive, friendly and professional. It might be a little loud in the lounge area with the band, but the restaurant was fine for conversation.
Great food great jazz trio amazing wait staff.
We were greeted promptly. Overall service was excellent. Highly recommend the Ceviche appetizer!
We go every Tuesday evening for the blues jam. Most fun thing we do each week (many thanks to the jammers)! We occasionally have dinner on Thursdays (jazz night) as well, and sometimes Fridays when JJ & the Hooligans or Little Leroy & His Pack of Lies are playing. Small dance floor but good place to sway and shake it. Hosts, wait staff and bartenders are fantastic. Overall, for us it’s the coolest spot in Santa Fe.
Awesome find on Canyon Road! Fun and quaint restaurant. Great jazz duo on Sundays. Fantastic Spanish tapas and attentive service.
Took my wife for birthday dinner and the Flamenco Dancing show. Terrific. Also has nice bar.
We were there in November & loved our food & ambiance. We had very good service & the chef came over & introduced himself. Most enjoyable evening. We were excited about taking local friends to try it. We couldn’t have been more disappointed. The place was way to warm, the food undercooked & just not good & we all had something different. The noise level, even before the band started, was just to loud. Won’t go back, won’t recommend.
The entertainment is wonderful, the food is very good, and the servers are incredibly knowledgable. It also was nice to see the Rich, the owner, making the rounds to ensure that everyone was having a great time.
Great food and Flamenco show!
Roasted beet and squash salad was wonderful as were the flank steak skewers and the Brussels sprouts and bacon. Ensalata Langosto was OK; the basil snails with mushrooms was unremarkable. A bit noisy but the service was excellent. Just a bit pricey- 5 tapas, wine, dessert, coffee and tip came to $175.
