About El Compadre - Hollywood
Since 1975, El Compadre Restaurant in Hollywood has been one of Southern California's hot spots for Mexican cuisine and drinks. The restaurant fashions the look and feel of an "old world hacienda". Lined with clay roof tires, wrought iron lanterns and stained glass chandeliers; its walls grace of Mexican heritage with paintings, artifacts, antiques and vase floral trimmings. We specialize in showcasing "The fine foods of Mexico". We serve family recipes handed down over generations using select cuts of meats, and choice seafood alongside season fresh vegetables. e have a dedicated full bar area where we serve mixed cocktails, imported and domestic beers and our legendary and famous "Flaming Margarita". Coupled with live nightly music from a trio singing Mexican classics and with a dimly lit, sultry lighting; our romantic ambiance is unmatched.

El Compadre - Hollywood Ratings and Reviews
The ambiance was fun, the food delicious the service was mixed. While it was somewhat attentive it was hard to understand what the waiter was saying when he was at the table. He had a very aloof manner that left us confused to what he was saying or doing. We felt like if we asked something it was a imposition. I wasn’t asked and didn’t receive a salad or soup option that was part of my steak tapiquena dinner.
Went to celebrate a friend's birthday. Everyone I spoke with and at the front reception once I arrived was very nice. However, the place was packed and once seated, the waiter seemed exhausted and irritable. The margaritas were not very good. Weak, as far as I'm concerned. My order of fajitas, which is usually a slam dunk, left a lot to be desired. The chicken and steak was poorly flavored and greasy with too many onions and peppers. Wouldn't go there again.
El Compadre's staff is amazing and their flaming margaritas are friggin' delicious with a wonderful tequila kick to it! Mario, the Bartender, makes THEE best "Disco" Cadillac Margarita ever! What is a "Disco" Cadillac Margarita? You add a shot of Chambord Liqueur to the Cadillac Margarita! After one of these, you'll want to get your boogie as well as your cha-cha heels on, YES! Try it, you'll love it!
A staple in the neighborhood there is always a crowd so if you have 4 or more consider making a reservation! Seating at the bar and on the patio are first come first serve. Their generous servings and consistent fare keep bringing me back. Their margaritas are large and strong!
We stumbled upon this place with a quick google search while looking for somewhere to take our 4 kids before catching our flight back home. We loved it and would go back again. The food was excellent. The atmosphere was a bit dim but our kids actually loved the ambiance. The chips and salsa were delicious as were the margaritas. Highly recommend!
We were nine friends ages 55-86. Everyone loved what they ate. We went there for the trio music. The trio was the best. They do say they have the best Margaritas. One of the persons in my party did not like her Margarita. Dont know which one she had. Ambience is great. Noise level high, despite the music.
I have lived down the street from this place for years and every time I come here the food gets worse. About the only thing good at this restaurant is the salsa. This time they overcharged me on a particular drink that I order every time and when I questioned them about it when the check arrived they said it had been that price since 2014. It was a flat out lie and when I posted in the neighborhood Facebook page everyone else confirmed too. However, their service is generally terrible even when they are not lying about stuff. Wrong orders, long waits for anything. The novelty of the mariachi and the flaming margaritas are cool, but that's about all this place has going for it. Other than the salsa. Don't bother. There are much better Mexican restaurants.
Mediocre food at its best. Maybe a West Hollywood scene but if you are from the East Coast , and live in New York or anywhere nearby and know good Mexican with a scene, its not how fast can we get them in and out. And the ladies room was filthy, told them but no one cared. Not a problem , no need to go back.
Great place to have a few drinks with some amazing Mexican food!!! I always get two margaritas and it sets my buzz at the perfect level. The dishes are sometimes big so they are great to split (especially since they have chips and salsa beforehand). The staff always does their best to accommodate the requests. It is slightly loud on the inside (I'm a loud person so it doesn't bother me) so maybe not the best for an intimate dinning experience. If you don't have a reservation the inside is a bit of a wait. ALSO they don't advertise this but, the outside dinning is first come first serve and my favorite spot in the house. Great experience all around!
It was too dark and our server was very inaccessible. It took forever to order and our food and beverages were incorrect several times. Twice we had to go look for the server. Your noise level choice on the survey is nonsensical. It wasn't energetic - it was too loud.
