El Compadre - Hollywood
We specialize in showcasing "The fine foods of Mexico". We serve family recipes handed down over generations using select cuts of meats, and choice seafood alongside season fresh vegetables. e have a dedicated full bar area where we serve mixed cocktails, imported and domestic beers and our legendary and famous "Flaming Margarita". Coupled with live nightly music from a trio singing Mexican classics and with a dimly lit, sultry lighting; our romantic ambiance is unmatched.
Great food, great service, thank you
It was closed and not reflected as such when booking the reservation
Fun spot before trick-or-treating. But the service was slow and the servers were confused.
Go see Daniel at the bar he’s amazing
Very fun music and Flaming margaritas r pretty strong!
Seating hostess was extremely rude on a Monday. Misquoted wait time and was then nasty when asked.
Beautiful Vintage Restaurant - Good drinks & Great food & Quality service !
Horrible service. We waited one hour to place our food order. I asked three separate time for help. Other people who arrived after us received their food before we ordered. Will never go back.
Had an 8pm reservation. Wasn't seated till 830. Water didn't come till almost 9. We didn't have dessert, and we still weren't able to get out of there until after 1030. Food was mediocre.
Its one of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles. The food and drinks are excellent. Their server Adriana is very very good. I drive 70 miles to eat at El Compadre when I have time to make the drive.
Had reservations still was asked to wait 10 mins sent to the bar to wait by hostess who was not the friendliest 😏
80% of the time El Compadre experience and food is 4.5 out of 5 stars. 20% of the time food is not good and service is mediocre 1.5 out of 5 stars. Last night was a 1.5 out of 5
I put it all to new staff and training. Asked for a hot salsa and was told I could get a tapatio to mix in but nothing else. Had another waiter who took over and got me an amazing hababerno salsa and seemed to know what was going on so like I said I'm giving it low ratings only cause they are training new staff. Food was really good and plentiful and it's a little dark but kind of cool vibe, all in id say go there and check it out but not sure I am a continued guest.
Best Margaritas ever! 🔥🍹
Food and service was great. First time there and want to go back again soon. Lived it.
Always a good time at El Compadre! Food was yummy, and the flaming margs!
Dirty dishes on the counter top of the bar. When we asked bartendar if we can have a drink we were ignored and then asked well are you going to eat here? What a stupid question, it's like, "No I just came to stand here?
We had a 4:45pm reservation, were told it would be a few minutes, my friend noticed other diners arrived after us, were being seated first. He approached the hostess after he complained and told her we had a reservation, they sat us down.
I see after all these years their service has not improved.
Birthday celebration and Lunch before Van Gogh!
Great food, amazing drinks and fast service. The light was a little bit too dim in the restaurant it took awhile for our eyes to get adjusted but other than that it was a great time.
The food was great. Our server very helpful and efficient
One of the best authentic Mexican restaurants in Los Angeles. The food is really amazing, the service is great, and the drinks are so so good
Food and service was outstanding! Definitely worth the visit.
I had chicken enchiladas. The enchiladas were basically a half chicken breast wrapped in a tortilla. Not shredded. My Margarita was watered down. Took longer then usual for waiter to take our order.
service was awful. the waiter came by once to ask us what we wanted to eat and once when he delivered our food. we had to ask for our check after over an hour with the waiter not checking on us. the carnitas tacos were flavorless and i don't recommend. you mostly go for the ambiance and location.
Favorite place for Mexican food
Waited half and hour just to order our food
They were short staffed on father’s day. The waiter got the order wrong and we had to wait longer than our reservation.
Fun, lively, spot for drinks with an extensive (and delicious) menu. Great for birthdays, groups, family celebrations, or just an energetic night of margaritas and nachos with your bestie.
Our friends canceled, but the restaurant was able to accommodate us. Sad for them because the food was DELICIOUS!! The salsa tells you a lot about the seasoning and authenticity of the food. It was all around amazing. The servers are fast and friendly. The mariachi band was good too. We will be back again and again!!
Extremely loud and crowded, even more so than usual. Food was just ok. Probably not returning soon. Great margaritas
Fun with visitjng friends
Fun fun fun. M
The food is soo great here!! I love the carnitas taco’s, beans, and rice!!
I love it here. You have to be patient if you go on a weekend night - even with a reservation. We waited over an hour, with a reservation, but it was fun waiting. We had some drinks and chatted. Staff is great, even while being overwhelmed with the crowd. Be patient! It's a fun atmo! BEST chips & salsa! I really like the mole & carnitas.
Awesome! This place is a must... The food was amazing! The atmosphere was loud but that should tell you... This place is Alive!
Good food but service was bad. Main course came when we still had dishes from the starter on the table. When we asked server to first take away the dishes he said not my job, I’m only taken out food. We ordered a bottle of wine and was 4 person but only got 3 glasses. We had to remind 2 times and it toke 20 min to get the 4 glass.
One of a number of old-time Mexican restaurants in LA, definitely not the best. The ambiance is fun, but the service was indifferent. The waiter was in a hurry, impatient when people weren't ready and completely humourless...and they got the food wrong when it came...plates with other tables got mixed into the order. The food is completely interchangeable with these other restaurants and appears to be served onto the plates quickly without a thought for aesthetics...but then again, that is what they are all like. I'd put this one third on the list of old-time LA Mexican restaurants.
Rushed through entire experience
