El Compadre - Hollywood
We specialize in showcasing "The fine foods of Mexico". We serve family recipes handed down over generations using select cuts of meats, and choice seafood alongside season fresh vegetables. e have a dedicated full bar area where we serve mixed cocktails, imported and domestic beers and our legendary and famous "Flaming Margarita". Coupled with live nightly music from a trio singing Mexican classics and with a dimly lit, sultry lighting; our romantic ambiance is unmatched.
Fun, lively, spot for drinks with an extensive (and delicious) menu. Great for birthdays, groups, family celebrations, or just an energetic night of margaritas and nachos with your bestie.
Our friends canceled, but the restaurant was able to accommodate us. Sad for them because the food was DELICIOUS!! The salsa tells you a lot about the seasoning and authenticity of the food. It was all around amazing. The servers are fast and friendly. The mariachi band was good too. We will be back again and again!!
Extremely loud and crowded, even more so than usual. Food was just ok. Probably not returning soon. Great margaritas
Fun with visitjng friends
Fun fun fun. M
The food is soo great here!! I love the carnitas taco’s, beans, and rice!!
I love it here. You have to be patient if you go on a weekend night - even with a reservation. We waited over an hour, with a reservation, but it was fun waiting. We had some drinks and chatted. Staff is great, even while being overwhelmed with the crowd. Be patient! It's a fun atmo! BEST chips & salsa! I really like the mole & carnitas.
Awesome! This place is a must... The food was amazing! The atmosphere was loud but that should tell you... This place is Alive!
Good food but service was bad. Main course came when we still had dishes from the starter on the table. When we asked server to first take away the dishes he said not my job, I’m only taken out food. We ordered a bottle of wine and was 4 person but only got 3 glasses. We had to remind 2 times and it toke 20 min to get the 4 glass.
One of a number of old-time Mexican restaurants in LA, definitely not the best. The ambiance is fun, but the service was indifferent. The waiter was in a hurry, impatient when people weren't ready and completely humourless...and they got the food wrong when it came...plates with other tables got mixed into the order. The food is completely interchangeable with these other restaurants and appears to be served onto the plates quickly without a thought for aesthetics...but then again, that is what they are all like. I'd put this one third on the list of old-time LA Mexican restaurants.
Rushed through entire experience
Enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Love the place, however, tortillas never ever come out with the food and only after requesting multiple times.
Kesha was at the table next to us! 1000/10!
The service was horrible. No I see why it takes so long to get a table, they won’t let you leave.
Always love it here! The food, the service, the mariachi music, and the ambience!! Thank you for always being consistence!!
Noon on Saturday, first group there, we had a great time, good food, super service. This one and casa Vega, my faves for traditional mex food
Long wait for table even with reservations
Great food and nice ambiance. Service was good but the restaurant was super busy and the service felt rushed. Otherwise a great experience and meal.
Best Mexican food ever. Their hot salsa is unbelievable.
always great food, great service and great drinks!
It was awesome!
We love having dinner at El Compadre in Hollywood! Tried the Chicken Enchilada with Mole' sauce and it was delicious. Looking forward to our next visit!
Great service, great atmosphere! Prices are a little more expensive than other Mexican restaurants but I’d definitely go back.
Was my fathers birthday. Great service and mariachis came over and sang happy birthday to my fathers who turned 72! He loved it! Thanks
Old school Mexican joint on Sunset. As expected, always enjoyable.
Fun lively Mexican restaurant with live mariachi style music. Great drinks. Good food. Spotty but very friendly service
Loved the ambiance and the food was terrific. Very busy so make a reservation. Will be back again!
My wife and I went at 6 pm Saturday night with our two grandkids (5 and 7 yrs old). We asked to sit near the trio singing traditional Mexican songs. The service was rapid food was great and our grandkids loved putting tips in the bands tip jar. Love this place!
The waitstaff were friendly and attentive. The food was good. The place was way too noisy though. In the future Ill sit outside.by the time I left I had a headache.
Love this place. Always a go to for a good time with family or friends. Thanks for the many good times.
Some of the best Salsa, Chile Verde & Carnitas I've ever had.....Margs are too sweet.
We saw Quentin Tarantino
The service was horrible. Our table of 5 got the wrong food, someone else's check, and they forgot we ordered salads, soups and appetizers AND BROUGHT THEM AT THE END OF THE MEAL.
A perfect night at El Compadre celebrating my mom’s birthday. Great food, amazing service. All around wonderful experience. Thank you!
The host was extremely rude upon our arrival. I made a reservation for 10 people at 8 PM for my partners surprise birthday dinner. When I came and mentioned my name she said she couldn’t find any record of it, even though I called earlier in the day to confirm. Mind you, people in my party were ALREADY SEATED!
Her incompetency and attitude initially ruined our experience.
We go to El Compadre at least 2 to 3 times a month and never have experienced such attitude. The normal host we see every other time we go is wonderful and she knows us by name, so we were surprised to be treated so rudely and condescendingly.
We will of course be back because nothing is better than El Compadre and their Cadillac Margaritas. I just hope we never have to encounter this host again in the future.
Everything was good but we waited 30 min for our table when we had a reservation, NOT OK!
Birthday fun! Food is always fabulous!! Great ambience.
Love the food and the flaming margaritas. The mariachi group adds to the ambiance and charm of the evening. Colorful and entertaining to see the people of Hollywood dining in this iconic restaurant, on top of everything else!
I went to El Compadre for my birthday and had a great time. I had a group of 13, and the servers were very attentive to my party. They made sure we had everything we needed, and they came out to sing Happy Birthday with/to me! The food was delicious. My reservation was at 845 and we had to wait longer than I anticipated for our table to be ready. But other than that, it was a great experience.
Bartenders more interested in chatting socially with other staff. I waited over five minutes while he chatted away (I kept track after a few minutes). I finally interrupted to ask if I could get a check and he put up his hand palm out like I was being rude. Then he didn't get it to me. I had to get another staff person to get the check for me. Not a good way to start the evening at what was a fine restaurant.
