Since 1975, El Compadre Restaurant in Hollywood has been one of Southern California's hot spots for Mexican cuisine and drinks. The restaurant fashions the look and feel of an "old world hacienda". Been going here for years, the flaming margaritas are a must & the ambience is AMZING especially W live entertainment like mariachi and sometimes bands here and there. This is a perfect place for date night or getting together with the girls over margaritas 🍻

The two hostesses seemed confused and unsure of how to seat people, especially the ones with reservations. On a bustling Friday night, that’s not okay. The food is mediocre, no great seasoned flavors. My shrimp & crab enchilada had zero spice & a tiny bit of crab, should have been called a shrimp enchilada instead. Best things I had was the margaritas & salsa, everything else tasted like American version of Mexican food.

I love this place, I’ve been coming here for 14 years, but I was not happy with the server this time. We still had full drinks and he kept circling our table asking if we were done, and put our check down. That is all fine, but then when we thought about ordering another drink , he came back to the table for the 5th or 6th time and asked if we were done and said other people were waiting. I looked around and noticed there were at least 3 empty tables nearby. It was awkward and I was annoyed that we constantly felt rushed so we left. Our reservation was at 6pm and this happened at 7:15pm. I would totally understand if we were there for 3 hours or something extreme, but this was a regular timeframe of drinks and dinner. Not sure I’ll go back…..

The experience was not good. Service was slow. Appetizer and entree came at the same time despite our asking for appetizer multiple times earlier and noise level of table next to us was overwhelming. Avoid and go to el coyote instead

The server was not consistent with checking on our table. It was almost like he forgot about us. When he did come to the table he seemed bothered that we asked him a question or needed something. Seating was not comfortable for party of 10.

This is the second visit in a row where the waiter just doesn't want to be there and that makes us feel very unwelcome. They're abrupt, rude and diners are just an inconvenience. I understand that the pandemic has affected all of us, but the last two meals were ruined by the waiters. The older gentleman, who I was told had been there for many years, was so dismissive and would argue openly with the busser in front of us over silly things...such as the fact that the busser brought us a refill of chips and dip w/o telling him. It was crazy and uncomfortable. I even apologized to the busser for the older waiters behavior. The chips were definitely left over from lunch as they were cold and greasy. My husband ordered the combo of beef taco and cheese enchilada. The beef taco was cold and saturated in some liquid where the taco shell was completely soggy. The beef was at room temperature at best. It was mushy and flavorless. El Compadre has gone from being one of our favorite restaurants...one that we would look forward to and recommend to friends to us not wanting to return. Such a shame.

The food was cold, and the busboy kept trying to rush us by clearing everything off the table without asking first. It's a "one and done" experience. My husband was totally grossed out by the men's bathroom.

At first wasn’t sure about this pick when we first pulled up, very old school it has been in business since 1975. Once we ordered our margarita’s I knew this was going to be good. This was the best margarita I ever had. It came with a flame, fancy but delicious, not too sweet. The salsa and chips we also very good, just the right amount of heat, very addicting. I had just plain cheese enchiladas, awesome. Wish this place was closer as I would be there weekly. Good choice

The service was excellent! The food not so great, average Mexican food. The place was not open yet and you can still smell the Clorox on the floor, but our seats were nice, but the people sitting next to us was super loud. I like my jalapeño margarita drink. I guess I will be back for drinks, not so much for the food.

First time for us & the restaurant didn’t disappoint. The food, drinks & ambiance were on point, & Gabby & team were awesome. Even with the rush hour traffic, Gabby gave us 💯 next time we’re in town again, El Compadre will be our go to.

Came for a friend's birthday. Food was spilled all over one of us. Drink orders never made it to the table. The usual birthday celebration with the music and everything never happened even though it was requested. Service was ridiculously slow.

Monday night two couples looking for Mexican food in West Hollywood. Made a reservation on open table. Service was slow. Took 30 minutes for drinks to come out and second call ordered but never arrived. Chips were stale, asked for replacement 3 times and never arrived. I assume the whole batch was old. Food was average at best and everyone compared it to any other Mexican food in town. We graded it a C. Parking was terrible with no street parking during dinner hours. Parking in back is crowded and difficult to back out a larger vehicle or SUV. Overall, not worth the drive into Hollywood.
