Loved the presentation of the food, the service was outstanding and our server took the time to explain the restaurant concept and recommend plates. Food was very good, our favorite was the Yucca Gnocchis. The only recommendation is that I would make the outside sitting area a little bit more appealing and formal.
Me and my husband went to ElCielo for my husband's birthday. Starting with the hostes, first mishap, she asked for the name that the reservation was under when she saw my name she proceeded to ask me if we would like the experience or a la carte when I had already reserved a la carte. Our option was to sit outside because you can only sit inside if you choose the experience, fine no problem we decided to sit inside because it is more comfortable(no humidity,no heat, no loud music from passing boats, etc). Ok the experience! Our weitres was very nice I will say that, but I will start by saying that she tried to open the bottle of sparkling water with her jacket. My husband ended up opening the water for her. Ok this may sound stupid but when you are at a fine dining paying 197 pp plus the drinks for the experience the least of my expectations was to have exceptional service. I mention the price, just to give you more context although I do find it appropriate. Moving on, we never felt engaged or involved in the experience there was never a story to follow. The tree of life was sitting on the table for a good 20 minutes and we werent told that it was one of our courses so it wasnt until we asked that she explained that it was the tree of life. She didn't know the name of all the ingredients of some of the dishes and when I asked what the name of a fruit was she left to ask someone else about it and never came back. Disapointment is the best Word to describe our experience. Food is good I know that the experience could be a wonderful one if the service would be at the level that it needs to be. I never saw a manager, and no one came up to us to even ask if we were enjoying our dinner. We know what exceptional service looks like, we have visited many fine dinings and many Michelin star awarded restaurants. ElCielo for us has very good food with very poor service.
Es una verdadera experiencia, espectacular, deben visitarlo!
Great food, not a great experience! … it is sad to leave a place where the chef was recently recognized by the Michelin guide and not feel like you should tell your friends and family to go there. As a fellow Colombian There is nothing I wanted more but support his efforts, recognize his talent and recommend everyone to go! Unfortunately I left feeling that the experience did not match the quality of the food, so the “experience” was lost!
Extraordinary unique experience for a special ocasión .
It’s overvalued restaurant. Best restaurants, best experience and better price are found in Miami
Awful experience, bad service, average dishes, for a 2 person dinner at the outside.
Looks like you get a different level of service when you prefer to eat outside, but still pretty heavy price tag...
I'm not recommending to make any reservation here.
Vuelvo pronto seguro!
Tryied the “experience”. Fantastic and impeccable
From the beginning to the end.
Best meal ever!!!
We had been to the Medellin restaurant and were looking forward to the Miami experience. It was very good, I missed the hand creamwith coffee granules offered in Medellin and the soup, but the Miami menu was really great.
The only thing I didn´t like was we asked for another Tree of life bread and were charged a lot. It would have been advisable if they had let us know, as they did with the arepas, that this included a charge.
First off, we went to this place skeptical of the service considering some bad reviews. I’m in the industry and it’s rare the occasion I’m fully satisfied with the service. My wife and I went specifically for The Experience Chefs Tasting Menu. Visiting from NYC, I was planning an ultra fine dinner to celebrate an achievement of ours. We’re Colombian and we felt obligated to support our paisano after his Michelin Star in Washington.
The Experience is everything I was expecting. Wonderful flavors and presentations. Each and every course (13+) was fully explained in English and Spanish and the service beyond great. I’ve become an ambassador of the place back in NY especially with great Colombian pride.
Kudos to Chef Barrientos and his whole team.
Juan Manuel Barrientos is a talented chief. He is a master of combining different flavors for unique and delicious creations. His 14 course meal was exceptional in its variety, tastes and presentation. Unfortunately the ambiance of the restaurant was lacking. The restaurant was playing very loud music in an attempt to drawn out a noisy table. We could not understand the waiters descriptions of the dishes. The restaurant needs private rooms to host such large groups. Also the wine pairing did not live upto the chief amazing dishes. Deserves Michellen stars except for the ambiance.
Possibly the best meal of my 97 restaurants in Miami so far. Had the Experience Menu $187 a person plus the 6 glass wine pairing. I totally suggest this. Utterly amazing meal. I wish the wines had been explained more with the pours however. Incredible meal
I truly and unique experience the Chef has done a very well done jobs in bringing us closer to Colombian dishes in a nice and unique way
Could be the worst dining experience in Miami! My friends and I booked a table for a la carte menu- which is served in the patio. However, it was crazy windy outside and the restaurant did not have any walls or wind blocker/screen. We asked to sit inside as my friend was pregnant and she did not feel well- we were not allowed to have an indoor table unless we pay for the menu. We had no other choice but to walk away because of this rude behavior.
We had an absolutely fabulous time! The food was interesting and very good, and the service was unbelievable. What an innovative and fun time!
Food was excellent and the experience was one to be remembered. Service was superb and location on the river was really nice. Please be aware 18% gratuity was included in your tab. Drinks were very good especially the spicy margaritas.
The "Experience" awesome. Went for lunch at Mother's Day. I'll be Back!!
One of the most unique experiences. Great dishes, Great staff and overall great restaurant. 10/10
My second time here. It wasn’t as amazing as I remembered it two years ago. Still a nice time. The food last time was way better though. This is typical in high end restaurants, from my experiences. Last time there were options on which experience you wanted. This time it was one. But they still do the chocolate therapy and the corny desert coffee with the dry ice, some people like it, I think it’s a bit over the top.
The food was amazing, as always. The service was great as well! They immediately made accommodations when it started pouring rain and we were originally sitting outside.
Interesting experience, delicious food. The server was very nice too.
I was a little disturbed by loud Columbian music and wish the dinner last a little less then 2 hours and was a little cheaper.
This is just a fantastic place. The food is delicious and full of unexpected flavors. We had an amazing time and we can't wait to go back!
El Cielo is a beautiful place, if you are willing to overpay for bad service, long waitng for food orders, lack of attention from the waiters you are in the right place. The food was interesting for the most part, unfortunately the portions are microscopic and they claim the are ok for sharing. The music in the terrace competes with the loud speakers from the boats passing by. Upon arrival we order cocktails that took half and hour to arrive, that was the first red flag I noticed, the food came slowly and didn't look like the ones in the website, they forgot 3 out of the 7 dishes we ordered, since we were left hungry we decided to order 2 pizzas wich never arrive either and when we asked about them they simply said we are sold out, we run out of dough, curiously one of the cooks walk out and handed pizzas for his friends in the table, this was another unacceptable for a place that just was awarded 1 Michelin Star. Why bother putting pizza in the everyday menu if the can't have enough dough? We try to understand that not everything has to be perfect but when all go wrong it need to be said. I am sorry I encourage my friend to come there I was embarrassed after all my speech about how amazing was Chef Juan Manuel Barrientos. The experience at El Cielo was more like experience at El Infierno!
Not just was Chef Juanma's restaurant, elcielo D.C. location, awarded a Michelin star, but the truth is being Colombian and living in Miami, I was very curious to venture into my 3rd time Michelin Star experience. After securing a table a few weeks ahead of time, I decided to surprise my girlfriend on a Friday night date at elcielo Miami. The location next to the Miami river on a cool spring night was perfect. The hostess at the entrance was very attentive and welcoming. Servers, were friendly and very professional. And the 14 course elcielo dining experience was truly amazing. To die for. Expensive as hell, but worth the $500+. I find it very hard to describe each and every one of the servings and the effect it had on us. Prepare to be surprised and lick that chocolate off your fingers or off one of the plates towards the end of the experience. Just try it!!! You'll love it! and congratulations to chef Juanma on his star! Next stop Bogota!
excellent experience, amazing food. awesome service
Food was delightful, view was so lovely. Ambience and location - great.
Our service, however, was a disaster from start to finish.
Amazing, I loved thank you
Good look in your business
Excellent customer service, excellent food! Amazing experience
Awesome experience.........the food was excellent and the servers were amazing. Would definitely recommend El Cielo! Will be back!
Service was on point but the food quality and portions are not worth the hefty price tag.
Great time and an unforgettable culinary experience! Definitely the place to go for any special occasion or if you want to spoil yourself.
La mejor experiencia, el mejor restaurant de Miami
Amazing experience, excellent service.
Food for gnome!
Restaurant has special diner includes 14 different mils but portions so small that in 14 portions I was still hungry... NOT Recommend, better order mills separately...
Atmosphere is good
Amazing restaurant. The food was really tasty and interesting. I got to experience new flavors and a variety of plates.
It was terrible. Worst service I have experienced in a long time. 3 hours to get a cocktail and they didn’t even get out order right. Then they offer us a 10% discount. Thanks. The 18% gratuity was a joke.
This is the worst restaurant i ever been, i never write any reviews but definitely I feel the necessity to let people know to never go there, service is very bad, but whatever if the food was good you will don't care but the food was horrible, it was very seasoned with cumin and all tasted the same. My friends are pesquestrian and they bring for 4 courses mahi mahi and at the end they forget and brought duck.
The drinks (we ordered margaritas) every time they brought something different. The bill came out to 1,000usd and we were 4 people and I'm not counting the 2 cocktails we had outside. It was very slow and the ambience is not to be sited for 4 hours. Our reservation was for at 7;45 we sat inside at 8:30 and we leave at 12:30. Not being this enough today I receive an email saying that why I didn't attend to my reservation. I think is this even real? I should even charge a refund for wasting my time, my food, my Saturday night and my money going there. I will never go back and i will never recommend this place.
