Great place for after work drinks and dinner. We made reservations--usually not needed but during SXSW we were glad we did! We asked for a table on the deck, and got our favorite. We were seated right away. The waitstaff were very attentive. Faves on the menu are guacamole, puffy tacos, happy hour drinks. We had grilled fish (yum!).
Disappointing. Chips were stale. It was so much better ten years ago.
It was SO loud!! We could not even hear the waitress, let alone have a dinner conversation. Very uncomfortable! We like the food and drinks here, but don’t think we will be back due to the noise issue.
One thing that bothered me is they ran out of flour tortillas- at 11:20 in afternoon at a Mexican restaurant?
We originally booked for a group of 9. We needed to increase to 12 and they accommodated us with no problem. We even had our own private room. We got there at 6 and after ordering, realized the show we were attending was at 7 and not 8. The kitchen and our server were very helpful and rushed everything out. I wasn't blown away by the food, but it was tasty and plentiful. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant and the quick and freindly service! Kudos!
Great atmosphere for dining with friends. Drinks are also very tasty. HH is a great time to go!
The Prickly Pear margarita’s are heaven in a glass. I sometimes go here just for the Prickly Pear. Love this place, been coming here for over 10 years and it has never let me down.
This is one of my wife and I's favorite restaurant. We love sitting outside and enjoying the strong margaritas and good food. The Verde enchiladas are the best.
I absolutely LOVE this place!!! I can't get enough of their amazing food and cocktails!
Randolf was the MAJOR issue here. His rudeness and absence of hospitality and service may cause me to never return to this establishment. I would appreciate a call from the ownership and management as I'd like to detail, in full, how unwelcomed we felt. We did not tolerate or endure the treatment. Instead, we left and went to another establishment nearby.
They helped make my mother in laws birthday special with a tres leches cake and a biggo shot of tequila!!! Thank you El Chile!!!! We love coming for dinner here!
Service and food were awesome! Only issue is the noise. The tables are close together and the concrete floor amplifys noise to the point it is hard to have conversation.
The food was of low quality, especially for the price. The margaritas are decent though, and their salsa is good, which are the only reasons I'd go back or recommend the place to a friend.
Very reliable place, with friendly staff and good food/drinks.
Good strong margaritas!!! Food is not Tex-mex but a different Mexican food. The enchiladas verdes are so good.
Service was great. Very nice. The food was good. Unfortunately, it was so loud inside that we ended up taking our food to go because my daughter had a headache.
Sunday brunch here very good. Margaritas and bloody Mary's well received by all. Migas and Bandera burrito quite tasty.
Try anything with the mole sauce!
El Chile never disappoints. The food and service are always excellent. The only thing that makes my review less than 5 stars in the ambience category is that it's always loud and can be difficult to hear others at your own table.
Awesome food and service as always. This is truly a neighborhood gem.
I'm pretty much a regular here! Love this place! Love the Chicken Mole and Chicken Mole Enchiladas! Great Food! Great Service! Great Location!
Great food and drinks! Noisy at first, but thankfully the culprits left before we got our food! Ole'!
First time at this restaurant that I chose for Mother's Day -- was not disappointed. Food was good, corn tortillas were excellent! The caso was a bit watery and the tortilla soup tasted like enchiladas -- was not my favorite but I will return to try other entrees and appetizers. The house frozen margarita was excellent!
Great happy hour! Margaritas and guac were on point. Service was friendly but not intrusive. Special was short rib enchiladas - tasty but a bit dry. Would def come back.
El Chile is my favorite place, and for 10 years I've brought every out-of-town visitor I've had there. The food is consistently delicious and beautifully presented, and the service is always excellent. I haven't had a bad meal there, though I have a hard time not ordering the Enchiladas de Cameron because they are so very delicious. The only thing that could be improved is the noise level. It's definitely noisy both inside and out, but it's worth dealing with that for all the other good things.
Everything was great (food, service, value) except the noise level. We were seated inside with a group of 8 and it was impossible to hear anyone unless they were seated in the next chair. There is nothing to absorb sound in the small indoor restaurant space.
El Chile is my go-to destination when I have out of town guests. It's casual and affordable, but also consistently good with consistently good service.
The food was very good, especially the queso, but the noise inside made it very difficult to carry on conversation. It negatively impacted our experience as we were trying to get to know a friend's new significant other who wanted good Mexican food while in town. We had to shout just to communicate anything.
We would still come back, though maybe on a less busy night.
The habenero sauce is worth driving across the country for. Great food. Fun atmosphere. High volume of noise.
Went for lunch. Was the blandest Tex-Mex food I've ever had. Ordered a soup to start. They brought it out with all the entrees.
I wish I had read Happy Hours' review that margaritas were good but food poor. What a disappointment!!! There needs to be a "star rating reduction" to further warn people. I love Mexican and Southwestern--spicy or not. The 2 sauces they brought for the chips were not palatable and I had to ask what they were. Charred pepper? and carrot "something?" I had to order a side of pico de gallo and asked if they had ANY hot sauces. They didn't. Ordered a stuffed poblano with pork. VERY mediocre--lots of meat, no flavor and not a great pepper. Staff nice but nothing else.
Attentive staff, good food and desserts! We would have loved regular old salsa with the chips, but that was our only change we would make!
LOVE this place! Great service, food & drink. Fun outdoor patio and they have serapes when it's cold.
The food is alright, but I definitely do NOT recommend the margaritas lol.
Good Mexican food at a reasonable price. All 4 of us had different dishes and all 4 of us enjoyed our tasty dinners!
The gent who showed us to our table was muy amable! Our waitress was really nice too and advised us on how to get the complementary queso verde which was very yum. Love the food. I will go back.
I was disappointed that we had a reservation. The couple in front of us did not. They were given a choice table while we were given the one by the kitchen. Other than that.....it was great
A bit overpriced
Dropped in here before a show at bass concert hall. Super friendly service. Happy hour options good. Sat outside on cute patio with heaters going. And blankets to sit on! Loved everything about the place. Food delicious.
