Nice place, waze takes you to the wrong location across the street. A little understaffed and slower service but overall very good
Always a great trip. Love the new location! Looking forward to the next visit.
Of course love El Chile :) but for feedback prob would say more comfy chairs. Thank you for being amazing!
Best Mexican food in Austin. We loved the chicken tinga enchiladas with mole rojo, and the shredded pork enchiladas with creamy chipotle sauce. Both were excellent and the service was perfect--always there but not in our hair.
I love the El Chile atmosphere, but the food has been hit or miss for me. My first visit was delicious! This past visit for brunch was just OK. Dry chicken, ingredients weren't very fresh, etc.
We made a reservation on Open Table. Hustled to get there in time, and when we arrived we were told (after waiting for some time) that they did not have our reservation. I showed them the screen with our confirmed reservation, but we were told they were hanging problems with their system and did not have an outside table for us, which is what we had reserved. Very disappointing experience with a restaurant we had previously enjoyed many times.
I was disappointed in the service, but maybe it's because of the lack of staffing.
The food was also disappointing. In the Capitol of Tex-Mex, they need to do MUCH better.
Extremely poor service, and very slow. Took a very long time to take our order, and then no follow-up after food arrived. We had to flag down waitress to get missing items and she kept forgetting. Our queso flameado came with no tortillas, and the migas didn’t come with tortillas either. Had to ask for things multiple times, and food came out cold. Very disappointing.
Love El Chile - one of my favorite restaurants! Food and service never disappoints.
Meh. I wouldn’t recommend or go back. Nothing special.
Excellent food and service! Reservations are a good idea on weekends as they had a long wait. Delicious high quality food! Nice outdoor option with misters :).
it wasn’t the best experience. drinks took a while and the restaurant wasn’t even that packed.
A favorite spot on the East Side for a long time -- we're excited to see the new location open up!
Wonderful food and service. Outdoor patio is quite pleasant.
My favorite “go to” at El Chili is the Nachos Especial with chicken. They go great with margaritas and they’re not too filling.
I ALWAYS get the Premium Margarita… usually Herradura. On the rocks with salt. If you’re driving you better just drink one! if you’re not driving hey, life’s short go for two! : )
Been eating here since it opened and the quality of food and service remains the same!
The food was fantastic as usual. Excellent guacamole and chips. Pork Riano fabulous. And dessert was amazing: raspberry chipotle chocolate chip ice cream. Are you kidding me? Get you some of that!
Really good food, really loud inside even with limited tables.
After church regulars. Sweet staff, attentive but not too much. Love this place!
One of the best and most underrated restaurants in Austin.
As a regular of many years, El Chile is solid. The availability of outdoor seating, always excellent service (even when short staffed or when a new server is training, you always feel the willingness to make it a good experience), solid-to-excellent food and good drinks at reasonable prices all contribute. I've seen menu changes over the years, right now (2021) the effects of the pandemic seem to have curtailed the choices on the menu a bit, but the there's plenty to choose from and the quality is as high or higher than ever.
Outdoor during rainstorm. Roof leaked. Put inside. More leaking.
Always constantly great.
the patio stayed nice and cool with fewer tables, fans, and misters.
It’s always delicious! One of my favorite places 😊
The food was excellent. We had queso and the special fish dish. Both were outstanding and perfect portion size. Our waiter was top notch; helpful and attentive. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that it was very hot in the restaurant and there were a lot of flies because the restaurant is open to the outside. I doubt the heat would be an issue when it’s not summertime. We’d definitely eat there again.
We had another wonderful meal last night. While we love everything on the menu if there is a special we always try it and are never disappointed. Last night's special was grilled drum with a crab relish and light cream sauce, served with black beans and poblano rice. It was delicious. We like to sit on the patio as it is quiet and we find it is comfortable no matter the temperature.
Excellent food, great value for the money and a fun Austin vibe. Service on our first visit was just average, but it did not diminish our excellent experience.
Superb food and drinks! I had the enchiladas verdes and it was so delicious I basically licked the plate clean. I really really love their food. Service was slow and slightly negligent but not horrible. The patio could use a few more fans.
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere!
Very good Mexican food. Attractive plate presentation. Great service.
We love this place. Our service was slow which was fine because we were visiting with family, but the host came the moment we signed our checks to tell us they needed to turn the table over for another reservation. Had we been able to order/got our food as quickly as usual it wouldn’t have felt so weird, but the fact that it was a service issue made getting the boot feel a bit strange.
Great food and service. Drinks were AWESOME. Will be back to try brunch.
Really wonderful experience, we had a few servers help us out (Sarah and Kevin) and they really were so fun and wonderful! We always had full drinks/water, always had everything we needed. The food was AMAZING! Was really blown away, we got the carne asada meal and the pollo dinner, was really delicious. My favorite was the queso flameado with chorizo tho! We will definitely be back.
Table was ready when we arrived. Everyone was courteous and the food and drinks were amazing! Definitely we’ll be back. Thank you!!!
We have been a number of times on a Sunday afternoon for brunch, I think they serve brunch until 3. Over the last few times, service has been really good and much improved. Food quality is excellent, portions are good sized and more often than not, we get a “to go” box and get another meal! I personally prefer to dine outside, I think it’s more relaxing and less noisy. El Chile is one of my Eastside favorites!
Food was cold and over seasoned.
Disappointed that there was no Tres Leches Cake; VERY LOUD; need to have 1/2 orders of nachos; Beef Picadillo was disappointing - tasted like chili.
It's one of our go-to's, significantly influenced by Prickly Pear margaritas.
