El Charro Mexican Dining offers Mexican food in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Diners can choose to sit inside or outside on the shaded patio, where food and drinks are also served. Try the seafood chimichanga composed of crab, whitefish, bay shrimp and chopped large shrimp or go with a simple shrimp and rice dish. A menu favorite is the jalapeno chicken enchilada or the tacos de asada. Specials on the menu include the chili Colorado, ultimate quesadilla and the burrito bowl. El Charro offers a small American menu that has hamburgers, and chicken and steak sandwiches.
Meals can be paired with a margarita, tequila, draft beer or soda.
And the food and apmosphere is just as good today as it was when I was 10. They've updated, but it will always be home.
I would LOVE it, and I do think it would be an improvement for most, if you COOKED the onions in the seafood burrito. Too many big chunks of raw onions.
We accidentally ended up at El Charro last Saturday night. My wife picked the restaurant and I thought she said El Charro, when she actually said El Jarro. Who knew there were two Mexican restaurants on the same street in the same neighborhood with such similar names? (Clearly, not me!) But the place was hopping and there was a line to get seated, so we figured we might have just stumbled upon a nice surprise. Unfortunately, the surprise was on us.
Both the dining room and kitchen were severely understaffed. Once our orders were finally taken, it took 45 minutes for our two entrees to arrive. For a family style Mexican restaurant, that's just not OK. The waiters were pleasant enough, but once the food was served, we didn't see them again, either to ask how things were or to refill our water (or ask if we wanted another drink). The food was mediocre at best. The "super burrito" had some sort of sweet filling/sauce and both the refried beans and the guacamole were completely bland - and I'm not particularly a fan of spice. The bean burrito with black beans was equally bland and the enchilada was more sauce than anything else. We were seriously disappointed with the entire experience.
Next time I will double check the name before setting my GPS to a restaurant!
We normally enjoy everything about this restaurant, but our last visit the service was extremely slow. The food took a long time to be served and overall service was lacking.
Loved the food, service, and specially the Margaritas.. We come here often, and bring friends.. They love it too. Will continue to visit.
Family friendly with a great kids menu and varied Mexican fare for the grown-ups; attentive service and great margaritas add up to a fun spot for the whole family!
Such great food and even better drinks! Good for families too
Good traditional Mexican food. Great for families or just adults
This Mexican restaurant has always been a family favorite and when my dad asked to go here to celebrate his birthday i was more than happy to oblige. Service is courteous, the food is delicious and we have never been disappointed. My grandmother would always have a Margarita and I follow suit in her absence, she was a sensible lady.
Delicious as always!!
