I was a little disappointed by my experience this past Sunday. I had some friends in town and was excited to share this brunch experience with them. However, service was very very slow. Half the table received their first drink and it took a full 20 minutes before the rest of the table was served. Additionally, I would say about 75% of the food that we received was down right cold when it should have been hot. I understand brunch service can be a struggle, however, I was quite embarrassed that this was the type of service that my friends received after I'd talked so highly of your establishment.
Our server was " HORRIBLE." Hyped up the restaurant to my brother ( birthday dinner) and my friends all week. We were very disappointed and embarrassed. I will never recommend this place again.
YALL WERE AWESOME!
Service was quite good, made us feel welcome when we were having a down day.
The staff at El Centro took such good care of our bachelorette party group! They moved us to a prime table location up on the roof, started the bride off with a free tequila shot on the house, and treated us all to a champagne toast after dinner. This is all in addition to their generally delicious food and fun atmosphere! Could not have asked for a better experience!
Pleased with location and time. Disappointed not to get to roof. Food delicious. The noise was a bit too high for us. Thanks.
favorite place for shrimp tacos!
We were willing to tolerate the noise as we didn’t read about the ambience. But service was terrible. Food server forgot to put in our food order and part of our drink order. Obnoxious and trashy clientele. Only saving grace was the food server comped the couple drinks he did remember when we left.
We were given a 30-minute wait despite a reservation. The manager made it right by getting a round of drinks and appetizers!
We really enjoyed the atmosphere. It was youngish and energetic. The food was excellent and very Contemporary Mexican. The staff was very service oriented and friendly.
Went there for bottomless brunch last Saturday, highly recommend it.
The waited took a while to refill our drinks toward the end.
The food was pretty yummy. The service from Adriel, who is much more than an amazing bartender, will keep me coming back. He treats his guests with the utmost respect and offers an amazing fun experience.
Good food, decent service; the open roof with birds coming in was unexpected
Aprils Fool's Brunch, chose the $35 all you can eat and drink option, and it was no trick. Started with Bloody Maria, spicy with enough tequila to know it was real. Moved on to soupa, thick with chicken and hominy--more of a Mexican stew than soup. The shrimp ceviche and the various tacos were all flavorful and distinctive; keeps you wanting to try more. Finished with another Bloody Maria for the road. A good selection and not one bad plate--a brunch first for me in DC.
Great margaritas and excellent food. Very busy and a little pricey but overall very worth the price! Would and will return!
The food was good but we felt really rushed. We were only half way through an appetizer when our main course arrived. Recommend that you get your app before ordering a main course. Also, a small irritant , my husband doesn’t like guacamole and I wanted just a bit rather than a $12 amount. The server told me that I could get a small portion for $3 which I did. I was surprised to find out that my main dish came with guacamole so I had paid extra for something I didn’t need. Server was good - gave us free drink coupons for a return visit.
The service and food has gone downhill.
Horrible table on the top floor. Service was less than stellar.
One persons order was wrong and the correct order came out after the rest of us were finished. The restaurant did send a round of drinks as an apology that was nice.
Quick service! Good ambience
We got the 35$ all you can eat and drink brunch deal. All the food was excellent and the drinks were great, mixing and matching allowed as well. Our waitress was very attentive, especially for a busy brunch crowd. This is really a great deal for D.C. brunch. Highly recommend it. It is a bit loud in there, with music pretty high in volume, but that's to be expected in the area.
Always fun to come here with a group of friends because of the atmosphere and music. I recommend the Chile Relleno!
Solid spot for tacos, cocktails, and a good happy hour. Also a fun night life scene when they have dancing! I've been for taco tuesdays with a large group and they are always very willing to split checks.
El Centro is a brunch favorite for my friends and I. Everything started off well but there had been an issue with kitchen about halfway through and almost everyone at my table was getting food but me. I addressed this with our waiter who could tell I was getting pretty upset. He went to find out what was going and and was quickly able to get the rest of the food out. They did a great job handling our issue and because of that I will keep coming back.
Great food, I’d appreciate more vegetarian/vegan options though.
service and brunch drinks were great but that was it. do not recommend food.
Service was slow, drinks were horrible and food had to be sent back. Don’t waste you’re. Go somewhere else !!!!
The food was vibrant with taste. The noise level is a bit too high because people have to yell to be heard.
Nice place, food is ok ...but they play the music way to loud! You can’t even hear the people at your table. Would pass if you plan on talking with your neighbor.
Best Mexican food on the DC area!
Great time, great service, great options on the limitless brunch! Fresca drinks ftw
Our server Leo was awesome! It was taco Tuesday and they were $2 tacos (1 taco) all night! We ordered tacos, Margaritas, and Guacamole! Every was great. Our guacamole was spicy as hell but that's because we ordered spicy! Lol next time we will order the regular one. It was still good. Leo said he made the guacamole himself 🙂
Great night with a fantastic waiter who helped us navigate the menu.
The server was amazing. The food was amazing. We love El Centro!
We had a very poor dining experience at El Centro for brunch which was disappointing because we had such a great experience the first time around we decided to come back. Our waiter was extremely slow, inattentive, slow, and rude. We had to order items several times before actually receiving them and often times when we did they were cold. We each left her a not so generous tip and were scolded by her for doing so. I normally am understanding of the stress that comes with busy days and the importance of tips however the service was absolutely unacceptable and we definitely did not get our money’s worth at all — not because we did not order food or drinks but because when we did she did not deliver.
Loved brunch at El Centro! The bottomless option was affordable, with great options and included the drinks! I love the vibe that this place gave. Will definitely be coming back soon!!
Overall very unhappy with this past experience at el centro. The food is always good, however the service was terrible. We were seated at a table upstairs basically at the bar and the music was so loud no one could even talk. We also didn’t have a designated waiter. Took forever to get a chip refill or even drinks. We didn’t get any water refilled. Then we were told it was going to be turned into a dance floor which was fine but no one would bring the check. So many diff people helped us i don’t even know who ended up with the tip. Overall it was not what i would have hoped for my 30th bday. I don’t know if I’ll be back.
Even through the loud crazy night we didn’t regret going. The al pastor tacos and margaritas were amazing.
After going to EC for the past 3 years, it was quite a disappointment to be treated like cattle and thrown up into the bar where I had to engage the bartender for food after 10 min of waiting to find out that were servers for dinner and that I had to go back downstairs to see the girl who sent us upstairs to the no service bar area despite having a dinner reservation. I have never seen the restaurant so disorganized. Long story short, I contacted one of the managers who appeared the only responsible adult who did all he could do to make things right for my girlfriend and I.
He was a very good man.
