El Centro D.F. - Georgetown Ratings and Reviews
My boyfriend and I decided to come and try El Centro after a friend recommended this place. We got sat on the second floor , which was fine. We decided to try the fruit infused tequila that was on the menu only to find out ALL flavors except orange / cranberry were out. Our server was awful, you could barely hear anything he was saying. We would ask about certain things and recommendations on the menu and he would give us one word answers. We got fed up and finally ordered out food to go. My boyfriend got the chicken tingas, which were good, nothing spectacular. When I do return to
Washington for another vacation from Florida, I won't be coming back.
One of the chairs at our table was broken and my friend split her fingernail on it. They got us bandaids very quickly which was appreciated, but when we told them the chair was broken they were short with us and completely dismissed it. We were only providing this information to them so it didn’t happen to someone else. The food is just mediocre and the drinks were very weak.
Went for the bottomless brunch. The food was very good and the drinks ok but it’s bottomless brunch so i wasn’t expecting artisanal cocktails. I highly recommend the ElCentro Hotdog and the Empanadas those truly stood out for me. I was also impressed that they offered with and without alcohol bottomless options so our one friend who was pregnant was able to get bottomless food plates and not have to waste money on the alcoholic beverages she couldn’t consume! Service was fast and not a single mistake for any of our orders and we were a party of 6. Overall I was very pleased and will absolutely return!
The service we received at brunch this week left a lot to be desired. The waiter wasn't attentive, he didn't consistently bring all the plates we ordered, and he didn't give us a warning when the kitchen was closing. We also weren't very impressed with the drinks. The agua fresca cocktails tasted overly strong and a set of mimosas came lukewarm. However, I'd note that I've been here before for dinner and had a significantly better experience re: service, and the food was good both times.
I️ was so disappointed in this visit here. Being from out of town I️ was familiar with the group that opened this establishment so we decided to give I️t a try. After we were sat we did not see our server for quite some time not even to get waters. We ended up ordering the brunch special and asked for specific items but our server put in whatever she wanted which ended up not being any of the items we originally asked for. Needless to say there was a lot of food wasted. Some of us had ordered a drink which should have been just a beer with a shot and I️t came out as something completely different (we thought they had forgotten about the order since we were done with all of our food before I️t was even delivered to the table) and were charged incorrectly. All in all the experience was probably one of the worst we’ve had in a while, very unprofessional and felt like our money was wasted. The food was not good either except for one or two of the maybe 10 things we were brought out. Sorry I️ had to share this review but disappointed, never going back, will never recommend.
Took my team here after a team building activity and it was surprisingly empty (I guess they don't do a big lunch business). They were able to accommodate our party of 7 with no issue and the service was very good. Orders ranged from Enchiladas to Tacos and Quesadillas. Everyone was happy with their meal and the portions were generous. The guacamole was excellent as well-- we got spicy and I didn't think it was too overpowering. One of my employees is vegan and he was very satisfied with their Roasted Heirloom Vegetable Tacos. Prices overall were reasonable for the area and I would definitely go back.
the food is AMAZING!!!! Service was lacking ish but it was prime brunch time so we weren’t mad when drinks took a little longer than expected. The bottomless brunch is well worth it!
The music was super loud so we had to talk loud but other than that it was awesome!!
We were excited to try out this mexican restaurant. However we were so disappointed. It took at least 10 min. to get water and another 10 for the waitress to come and ask for our drink order. We finally ordered some of the chef specials - The steak and salmon. The salmon didn't have much flavor despite it supposedly having habanero spice rub. The corn underneath tasted like it was from a can and the "salad" was just a bunch of greens on the plate. The steak which was full of gristle was cooked on a flattop which was a disappointment and it had little taste. The sauce (mole) was not enough and needed to be punched up a few notches. Altogether a disappointing night out. Find another Mexican restaurant to try!
I took visitors from out of town here for brunch and it was a total nightmare! The air conditioning unit kept dripping on our table. When we told our server, they wiped the table and moved on. We ended up sliding over when the group next to us left. We should have left then, but we ordered our first round of drinks and food. The food we ordered never actually came out. Our server would bring us a myriad of dishes we didn't order and would only stop by our table after we flagged him down. We normally would be very relaxed about this given it was a busy brunch time, however we continued to receive meat dishes when we had two vegetarians with us. They didn't get to eat until we had been seated for 1 hr (and many plates of other food later). It seems like El Centro just squeezed as many people in to the restaurant as they could to try without considering the level of service that each table would get. During our time there, we saw 4 people sit down, and get up to leave after not receiving any service. Very bad experience and will not be back.
I've been going to El Centro DF on 14th St for a long time. Today, I went to the one in Georgetown to celebrate my friend's soon to be mother. Since the beginning, we asked our waiter to make her huevos rancheros well done or make them scramble as she cannot have them over easy during her pregnancy. After 45 min, they brought her three dishes with the eggs runny, on the fourth try, they finally made them scramble, which was on her first request. We understand brunch time is busy at El Centro but it was unacceptable that her food was late for almost an hour and the server kept bringing the wrong dish. Not to mention that his excuse was that all the dishes were pre-made, nothing was fresh and they could not make the eggs well done nor scrambled, which they did at the end probing that they were able to do them all along. The orders kept being wrong, and all the server was paying attention to were the tables with unlimited drinks. Several times, we had to get up and get his attention to check on status of our food. The plantains came before the guacamole because that was also pre-made according to him. The experience was far from acceptable and the customer service was terrible.
The food was excellent. Service was very slow and poor. Didn't have utensils when our meal was served , appetizer was served before our drinks came, which took forever, the table next to us was seated and there wasn't even a chair for one of the customers. When using the women's restroom, a male attendant came in unannounced to clean up after someone got sick.
Overall I enjoyed my first time at this restaurant. It was recommended by the friends that I went with. I sat upstairs near to what I thought was a window seat but on closer inspection it was a wall of bricks with holes to the outside and no actual window. It was a bit chilly outside and every now and again a slight gust of breeze would blow through the holes but the overhead heat lamps helped to compensate, so be mindful of that and bring a cardigan or sweater. Up until this point I was not a fan of mexican food but we had the $35 all you can eat brunch and I got to taste a selection of different foods. I would definately go back and absolutely would recommend you give it a try. Service was excellent. Our glasses were filled frequently without prompting and a smile almost every time. I think it helped that I had two gorgeous women with me :)
Had I been alone...hmmmmm.....
Drinks were great, as always, but the brunch food left a lot to be desired. The tacos were slimy and tasteless -- not at all like they are at non-brunch times. The service (our waiter was Mario) was great, and we had fun, but definitely not worth the price. Probably will be back, but definitely not for brunch.
Worst restaurant experience. This place isn't cheap and the service and food are way below average. I ordered 2 Margaritas when we were seated- my wife's drink was delivered after 20 minutes and mine didn't arrived until 30 minutes later while eating my entree. Server said bar was backed up but never returned after bringing my wife's drink 50 minutes earlier. I should have never accepted it but I needed something to get the taste of this horrible food out of my mouth. Food was horrible- taste and quality is better at Taco Bell. Plus, the server short changed us $10.00 and new the amount exactly when we brought it to his attention. I was given a coupon for a free Margarita- I'm from out of town and I'ld never return. They could have offered the drink for free or whatever but didn't. With so many excellent restaurants in Georgetown, don't subject yourself to this place. I should have read the reviews on Open Table before booking- my experience is common. Just go elsewhere.
