The smell of the seafood was indicative that it wasn't fresh at all. The waiter making the tableside guacamole splattered a lot of it on my date and not to mention the fact that it was bland. The inside decor and drinks were the only great thing about my experience at this restaurant.

Food was okay. Very pricey pitchers of sangria— you don’t get a lot for $60. Brutal service. Wouldn’t go back purely because of how terrible the service is.

Fish tacos are superb - my friend and I shared them along with the pulled pork version. Next time we will both order the fish. Milpa salad was excellent as were the traditional margaritas. Had to bring some home with us and no room for dessert.

This spot has some of the best Mexican food in Toronto and, as foodies will understand, nothing beats the authenticity of the recipes and ingredients. If you are looking for a good non alcoholic drink, the horchata is AMAZING. Sweet, creamy, and rich. The guacamole is also fantastic—they grind the avocado with the other ingredients before your eyes! Overall a fun dining experience.

We were seated at 3:15 and ordered drinks and then asked if we wanted the lunch or dinner menu. Not realizing the difference we said dinner. It was way more expensive, very small serving sizes, and had way less choice. We won’t make that mistake again. Go for the lunch menu.

We weren't sure what to expect.
What we got was a wonderful experience with interesting décor, an extremely helpful waiter and a very tempting menu. The restaurant was full so I actually thought we might have to wait a bit for our meal but it came much faster than I expected under any circumstances. We each had something different and NO ONE would share!!! Now that speaks volumes for the taste as far as I'm concerned.
I recommend El Catrin and look forward to my next visit.

The place was ok for lunch but they kept opening a door next to the bar and leaving it open making it very uncomfortable and cold.

Disappointed... service was slow. Food was "average in quality and flavor" but overly expensive for sure.
A burrito with mostly rice and very little vegetables and cost almost $20.00

I won't be back.

Great restaurant. Our server was wonderful!
Gave the food a 4 star only because we had 1 dish (charred corn in a tiny container) that we did not fancy. The rest was great. Was my bday & chef gave me a little cake with a candle ‘on the house’....I really appreciated this!!! Will definitely be back & cant wait to try the patio!!

The service was horrible, anytime I wanted to order something or ask anything I had to wave down the person. They were very rude and the food was not worth the suffering through the horrendous service that I had to deal with. I will never go back and tell everyone to not go there.

I love this place. The food has so many flavors that you taste. Servers are very knowledgeable about the food and beverage offerings, and are fun! The baja fish tacos are the best every plus I can say the same for the churros.

We had a great time for lunch. Food was delicious and servers were attentive. Our only issue was it was cold sitting next to the front door area even though there is a curtain separating the main door and the restaurant since the door kept on opening and closing.

We’ve been coming here for years. However their sangria pitchers are now $60.
Unfortunately that is a game changer for us.

Great experience at El Catrin! I took my mom for lunch and we shared the Esquites (recommended by our server) which is a small little taste of a traditional dish - it was DELICIOUS. We also shared the pulled pork tacos which were awesome. To start, we had the guacamole - that was the only thing that was just okay. Needed more salt or flavour. But everything else was fantastic. Had their mango margarita and it was the best margarita I have ever had! Loved the music and the ambience as well. Definitely recommend !

Very impressed with the décor inside. I could stare at the mural wall for hours. Fun atmosphere, a lovely spot to have a lunch or drinks and apps. We ordered 3 main dishes - was not impressed with any of them (steak, Shrimp bucket, Pork belly - which is essentially just more tacos).

Great service, and even brought out a little piece of sponge cake with a candle for my birthday. Unexpected, but kind nonetheless.

I would go again but it would only be for drinks and tacos. The main's need a lot of work in creativity, portion sizes, and flavour.

The Margarita's were great, 4 different pitcher choices. Highly recommend the Pastor tacos and Pollo Loco.

I would go back, but again, for drinks and tacos only. Great place to spend a couple of hours.

Everyone was very friendly, from the greeter to the guacamole server to the waiter. The experience was great. It was more like tapas rather than a full meal and things could get pricey when you're ordering that way. Everything was delicious though. I would highly recommend the fish tacos. They were by far the best. Churros for dessert is a must. Great location.

Average tacos. Average ceviche. Decent service. The tables are sticky. They are supposed to be like that. I don't like that you have to order two of the same tacos. Save yourself the time and go to La Carnitas or Gran Electric.
