El Catrin Ratings and Reviews
I'm glad I made reservations well ahead of time. We got seated right away, but the seating area was very crowded making it difficult to get in and out. Food was amazing and the decor was bright and original. Service was very good.
Fish tacos would be my recommendation.
Michael was so accommodating and helpful. I will never forget how fantastic he was. Ricardo, what a fantastic server! Couldn’t have asked for better way to spend our night. The group was very impressed!! Thank you for a great time and see you again very soon!!
Had been at the Toronto Christmas Market. This place came highly recommended from a fellow employee who is originally from Mexico. She says this is the best Mexican food she has had outside of Mexico.
We started with two margaritas followed by some guacamole (made tableside) and two other small plate dishes and two more margaritas. All very good.
The bar/restaurant area is very well decorated in a Mexican motif. Lots to look at while dining.
Server was friendly and knowledgeable.
Might be OK in the summer on the patio. But the indoor space is bright, loud, and cramped. It's a cynical cash-grab location in a tourist hub that survives on getting patrons once but doesn't expect you to return. Food was tasty enough, but "sharing" portions are microscopic and far overpriced - you need to order a lot, not to leave hungry.
I have been many times. I have introduced people to the resto and I have been a repeat customer. Top notch service and food never fails to be amazing. I often recommend and speak highly about it. I have been there on date nights, dinners with friends, special occasions and for business dinners and everyone leaves happy and full!
I have dined on the patio this past summer and absolutely fell in love with the atmosphere and the food was amazing, so it was an easy decision to take U.S work colleagues here during their visit. It was a hit! They had a great time and will be coming back in the Spring to enjoy the patio experience...and the margaritas!
We have been here a couple of times and have always had an amazing meal. The servers are always very friendly and seem to really enjoy their jobs. They take the time to answer any questions we have and check in to ensure the food is good and that we have everything that we need. The freshly made guacamole made table side is the best. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants an authentic Mexican meal with the best ingredients in an upscale vibrant setting.
We went to El Catrin for a bite to celebrate my friend's birthday before heading to the Cirque du Soleil show. The ambience in the restaurant is very cool and we all enjoyed the decor. Our server was friendly, and the food was tasty. Very small portions, so value was not very good, but overall we really liked the experience.
I brought my friend here for brunch to celebrate her birthday. This was our first time here and we had driven as all the way from the east end of the city. We were absolutely amazed by this restaurant. The ambience made us feel like we were in Mexico. The food was so flavorful and the music was at the right volume that we could still have a conversation and not have to yell across the table. I would definitely recommend this place and we will definitely be coming back!
AWESOME TIME ! Food was fantastic. With the help of 2 wait staff - again these guys went above and beyond the call of duty. They explained each dish to us. Noted what was spicy and "through the roof" spicy - my friend LOVES spicy, I on the otherhand, like very mild spice. Totally enjoyable meal............ will be a definite return visit to try more on the menu
