We were seated in the front by the door and every time the door opened it felt like you just walked outside. Our reservation was at 745 and we didn’t get to leave until 10pm and it wasn’t because we were having a good time. The food was average in my opinion.
Great food and excellent service!
The ambient was great we didn't enjoy the food
My friends and I had such a great time at El Born! We ended up sitting outside, but they had comfy seat pillows and blankets, so we hardly noticed the cold. Three out of four of us split the red sangria pitcher, and we each got about 1.5 glasses. It was a great deal and the sangria was delicious. The croquetes del dia were mushroom and SO GOOD, we wanted to order more. The braves el born were also killer. My friends got a superb eggs Benedict and I had a kale salad that was perfect. We finally wrapped up with the creme brûlée, which was really good but definitely served in an alternative fashion to your standard dish. Overall 10/10, can’t wait to go back!
Excellent food, definitely recommend.
The staff was super friendly and attentive. Food and drinks were great! Looking forward to brunch next time.
The best outdoor dining experience I've had since the beginning of covid and that is saying a lot considering it was one of the coldest days yet this winter. The food and service were wonderful and I felt safe.
We booked a reservation for 9:15pm on a Friday night (it was the only option). At 8:20 they called us to tell us they close at 10pm and do last call at 9:20 (or maybe 9:30) so we would only have 5/10 minutes to order and they don't recommend coming. We said we understood and would be ready to order when we arrived. Then she said they were just really busy and they did not mean to give us a reservation. She told us they were cancelling our reservation (with out explaining why) in a rude way. (This would have been fine if she was polite and explained they were understaffed or something.)
We’ve so enjoyed our meals at El Born! The chef’s choice is a great way to experience their food - nine different items for a fixed price, every single one of them so flavorful and some with a nice little kick at the end of each bite. Delicious! Great friendly service, too.
our waitress christina was absolutely lovely, and the seafood paella was delicious
Patatas bravas and the cod were fantastic. Will definitely go back.
Good experience
El Born is one of my favorite spots. Food is always amazing. This time I asked for the chef’s menu and I tried a great selection of tapas. They also prepare the best gin & tonics in NY. The servers are attentive and polite. I strongly recommend this restaurant.
Always a lovey dining experience at El Born. Friendly staff and delicious plates to share.
We love our servers !!
Great place to eat with friends. Neat seating arrangement. Perfect value
Great vibe, and great value for the $45 tasting menu. Lots of delicious plates!
Service is excellent. Food is really good. The music is too loud.
Some of the best tapas I have had in NYC. Worth the trip to Greenpoint.
Salty fish. Over-seasoned food. Amazing ambience. Would go to once.
The portions are tiny, is not disclosed. Paid $50 + for three bites of food.
My local spot, which I love! Best octopus dish in the neighborhood!
Amazing food and service, paella and pulpo are delicious!!
We had a great meal, enjoyed every dish. We took our time ordering multiple rounds of tapas throughout the night and never felt rushed at all. Will definitely be back again
The food here was quite impressive! Not your usual tapas bar with the same 10 items on the menu. Unique ingredients in each dish and high-quality. Was a bit loud but happily my husband and I were at a table for two against the wall so we were able to hear each other. And the high top stools had backs to them so that was a plus. Our server was delightful and knowledgeable. The decor in the restaurant was charming and cozy. And drinks outstanding. Looking forward to returning again!!
Food was excellent! Service was good. We ordered the chefs menu that include four tapas ,paella and dessert. Food came out in good time and sever was friendly . The only thing that would perfected the experience is if the server would announced what he was putting on the table. I mean I’m pretty adventurous when it comes to food and I did enjoy it very much but it’s just nice when they explain what they are serving you when you order the chef tasting.
The food was really great and very tasteful. I love their serving portions because it was the right amount of food to share. The red sangria was so delicious and not sweet at all. I will definitely be returning back for brunch. The place felt so cute and welcoming. Also the staff was very friendly and helpful when we had questions of the menu.
The service/food/music was outstanding. Cannot wait to go back!
Food was delicious.
I still cannot believe how good it was.
Loved the food and exceptional service..
Had a wonderful evening
The food was good and I will probably give the restaurant another try. There was a party of 6 or so who were a little drunk that ruined the experience, screaming at the top of their lungs. Everyone in the restaurant was giving them dirty looks but the staff did nothing about it.
Great food, lots to choose from. Food came a little rushed, but we enjoyed everything.
Very satisfied with the service and food. Only complaint is that it was very crowded. That's to be expected -- it's a popular place and we went on a Saturday night. Just a caveat to those who try to avoid places they need to squeeze into.
Grilled calamari was really under cooked and the special (veal cheek) was very under seasoned
Delicious, in tight lively environment. Paella was okay not excellent. Loved several tapas. Wish staff had returned for add’l drink order once food came. Common high-top table worked out fine for large group.
Everything was okay. But everything needed salt and more spices. It was very plain.
Just average all around. Food was either too salty or completed under seasoned. Most of the ingredients seemed to be not be top quality. Just average.
The pallea tasted so burnt. The service was fine but the food was a big disappointment.
Let me start off by saying the wife and I live for tapas and we have some pretty high expectations. Our go-to spot recently closed so went on the hunt for a new place and while good, El Born was just not great. We got the chef's menu which was described to us as using seasonal ingredients and more experimental – this was not the case. We ended up receiving three *very* similar cheeses, pan con tomate, pulpo, lobster gazpacho (meh), and brussel sprouts along with squid ink paella. Throw in some patatas bravas and you have the most basic tapas night of your life, so we left a bit underwhelmed.
The staff was very nice but disappeared as the night got busy and we were waiting for a long time to get drinks and our check. I wouldn't tell someone not to go, but I'm also going to keep looking for a replacement as I know theres better somewhere out there.
