   Tourist trap. I am literally puertorican and the food is not authentic.. chicken was dry flat and burned no flavor , beans no flavor , calamari rubbery etc waaaaaay too expensive especially since it does not taste good and small portion

   Staff is friendly, but they were overwhelmingly busy and very slow. We left before receiving our entrées. I did enjoy the ceviche appetizer before leaving.

   Although the food was good it was not what we expected. Ceviche app was good to start. I ordered grilled grouper and it came out more like a boiled fish soaked in butter and garlic - I needed grill marks. French fries had no seasoning. My mother ordered the mahi mahi with mango sauce and mashed yuca which was excellent. Also they don’t have tap water you have to purchase individual water bottles. Overall didn’t feel like cohesive dishes

   Amazing experience. Best restaurant in PR. The vibes were excellent. Food was amazing, drinks were crafted exquisitely and the place was from a movie. Glad we chose this restaurant for our anniversary dinner. The waiter is also the only waiter in the restaurant and also the host. There was also only 1 bartender. Expect slow service, but take that time to enjoy the experience. Seafood pasta was delicious and also the catch of the day. Sangria was the best I've ever had and the margaritas were perfection.

    Beautiful restaurant in old san juan. Very rustic and romantic setting. The small patio is definitely a vibe. Food was good, we had the calamari appetizer, lobster risotto and grouper and fries. the waitress was super friendly.

    The service was very very very slow and we had to ask for water multiple times. It ended up taking 30 minutes before we got water. They forgot one of our dishes and it didn’t come until everyone else had finished eating. The food itself was nothing impressive. I would honestly save your money and eat somewhere else.

    Food on the streets (example: Piñones) is way better. VERY expensive restaurant and the food didn’t show it. Small portions and average taste. The mofongo stuffed with chicken was a tiny cup of a mix of yuca and plantain. The mofongo is supposed to be just plantains. The chicken had good flavor but it was dry ($24). It all tasted and looked like it was reheated food. I’m from Puerto Rico (born and raised), live in the US but I go back often to visit my family. I know Puerto Rican food, this is not it. We were hungry and had to be back on the cruise ship right after dinner so we ate what we could and left. Service was slow from the beginning.

    We got there around 9:10 for a reservation at 9:15. They sat us at 9:40. The appetizer didn’t come for 1 hr. The entree came after 1.5 hr. If you are hungry this is not your place. If you just want to chill and you don’t mind how long the food takes well this can be your place.

    waited 20 mins and no one came to seat us though we had a reservation. went and got someone ourselves and finally got sat. after ordering, we waited an hour and our food still hadn’t come and no waiter came by within that time to ask how everything was. we asked someone politely to check on the food and it came instantly, so it probably was just sitting there. my dads fish was tremendously overcooked and inedible. they took it off of our bill which was very nice, however the service was terrible. no apologies were given and one of the waiters was just very rude. the actual restaurant was really nice! maybe they were understaffed however it was just a really bad experience. we should have left at the beginning.

    I so wanted to like this place. They are just way understaffed and I think their food needs an update. The people that were working there were doing the best they could. Our shrimp appetizer and My grouper had the exact same bland sauce. She was supposed to get a traditional shrimp dish wish came out as mixed seafood with mostly cold fish. In addition, they never put our order in. Drinks we good at least.

    waited over an hour for food that was not very good. only one chef in the kitchen and 3 servers for the whole restaurant. the place is very nice and cute on the inside, but the wait time and mediocre food was not worth it for the price (almost $200 for 4 people)

    Waiters were very busy. Only two waiters for about 30 tables. It took one hour to get food. Waiter came only to take order and bring food. Food was okay, I ordered fish and a salad, but for some reason the salad had no dressing.

    The food was phenomenal! I absolutely adored the octopus risotto and my partner talked about the steak the next night. Loved eating outdoors under the large umbrella, even while raining, because it added to the peaceful ambiance.

    A disappointment. First and foremost, they don’t have the staff needed as we waited an inordinate amount of time for service, so much that several tables, including our own, had to go to the bar to pay our bill. Second, the food is mediocre. We ordered calamari as an appetizer. It was fried to a very dark brown, chewy, and edible. Our main course was also overcooked and seemed like it had been sitting around for a while, hence lack of wait staff. We suspect that this restaurant caters to the one and done tourist, never to be seen again.

    There were only 3 waiters for a full restaurant. They did what they could, but we waited almost 2 hrs for our food. Reservation was for 7:30pm and we got our main dishes, which we order before 8:00pm, at 9:20pm. The restaurant should limit to reservations they can serve well.

    INCOMPETENT! We booked a reservation on Dec 20, and it was for Dec 28. When we arrived, we were told that we would not be served for over 90 minutes. Just the fact that they had such a long time to reserve a table for 4 people is just obnoxious. The staff was not apologetic at all, and I’m glad we immediately left. IF YOU WANT TO ENDURE A LONG LINE, El Asador is the perfect place.

    We booked the place for lunch and got confirmation that it was booked. When we arrived on time, they didn’t have enough people to service. We waited for 10mins to get a drink and 30mins for a menu. When we were finally asked to order, they ran out of food as well. We basically wasted 45mins there. Bad experience!

    We arrived to San Juan in a Christmas cruise and made reservations for Christmas dinner with my family and my family who lives in the island. The experience was outstanding. The day was busy but the service was outstanding and the food was delicious. Nice atmosphere in the middle of old San Juan. Definitely this is must go every time that I visit San Juan. Good bar with a good selection of local rum’s and other libations.
