El Andariego Ratings and Reviews
The food was excellent. The service/ambiance left a little to be desired. We were seated next to a cold, drafty window. We asked if there was better seating available and got moved 2 feet away to another seat next to the front entrance which was cold and drafty. There were several other seats available, not sure why we weren't given better options. Service seemed cold and uninviting. Nothing beyond, here's a menu, what's your drink, meal, are you finished, do you need a bag. Not necessarily warm and inviting. Very businesslike. That being said, the food was delicious.
A fantastic family owned & operated restaurant serving authentic Mexican food. As soon as you step a foot in the door, you are jovially welcomed by the Hostess & almost every other staff member passing by. More so, that will stop by your table to see if you need anything.
The restaurant & restrooms are kept in a tidy fashion, with two separate places to dine in, the main area & separate space that can be used for private events. The full bar is quaint with 4 stools & a TV.
The menus are vast providing an enormous selections of Mexican & Salvadoran favorites, a small offering of European fare & specialty menu. In which I ordered from getting the Chilean Sea Bass Tacos that were very good…the homemade Sangria is a must!
Prices & portions are perfect & as previously mentioned, the customer service is top notch as before you leave you will get a visit from one of the owners to ensure your visit a good one.
This is a neighborhood place that we have not patronized for several years nor have I written a review. They have not lost their touch as the food was really good. What made the experience even more wonderful was the service provided by our server, Diego. He was so upbeat and attentive that it just made the food taste better (didn't really need the help though). We will definitely make a point to come back more often.
El Andariego has been one of our favorite restaurants since we moved to Olney 21 years ago. The service is friendly and efficient, the food is excellent, and the portions are ample. We left Olney a year ago, but still visit El Andariego despite the 25-minute ride. We've taken several friends there and all were very satisfied. Our favorite dish is the Plato Morello (pork ribs and chicken or beef fajitas).
This restaurant is a real gem of authentic Mexican and Salvadoran food. There are items on the menu not found in other restaurants. The dishes we sampled we absolutely delicious. The service was professional and pleasant. The ambience was comfortable and inviting.
Delicious Mexican food, though nothing that particularly makes it stand out from the majority of Mexican restaurants. Fast and friendly service. Reasonably priced. We always come here before seeing shows at Olney Theatre and have never been unhappy with our choice. The live music was a little too loud in such a small space, but added the the fun ambience.
Monday is half off Margaritas, so we went and enjoyed both good margaritas and good food. The shrimp dishes are always good; the chicken in 2 dishes was overcooked. We would go back again, and just not order the chicken. Regular margaritas (the ones half off) are great drinks at great values.
El Andariego was fantastic! My wife and I have been looking for good Mexican food, and saw the reviews for El Andariego. When we arrived at the restaurant we were warmly greeted. We started with the Queso Fundido, which was very authentic and very tasty. The mains were also quite good -- I had the Camarones Brouchette, which could have stood a little more jalapeno in the stuffing but was still delicious. But the star of the night was dessert -- we had the Xango, which was a cheesecake filling inside a pastry dough covered with cinnamon and served with a bit of ice cream and caramel sauce. We also had a flan (courtesy of the house) that was also just wonderful. Overall a great experience, and we will be back!
This was my second visit to this restaurant. I wrote a more thorough review last month. This time, my wife and I returned with another couple. We all thought that the food was excellent. My only complaint is the same one that I had last time, concerning the service. The wait staff are very friendly, but they are not sufficiently attentive. Last time, the restaurant was fairly empty -- on a rainy week night. This time the restaurant was quite busy (and loud) -- on a Sunday evening. It appears that, whether crowded or not, the wait staff are slow to take drink and food orders and then to bring the items ordered to the table. But they do it in a very friendly manner, and the food is very good. So the good definitely outweighs the less good. And they do provide excellent corn chips and salsa while you are waiting. Also, I will note that, last time, the waiter failed to bring the papusa that we ordered. This time, however, we finally got to try one (the cheese, not the pork). It was very good, as other reviewers have attested. All in all, we like this restaurant and are sure to return.
This is a neighborhood restaurant located in a small shopping area. The food was excellent. We had some issues with the service initially. We were left alone too long at the start. It took a while before anyone acknowledged us after we were seated. But eventually our drink and dinner orders were taken and chips and salsa materialized. The waiter was extremely friendly, but he made a mistake. He took our order for papusas for an appetizer, but failed to bring it out. We mentioned it when our entrees arrived, but by then it was too late. He made up for it later, however, by giving us a chocolate cupcake on the house because it was my wife's birthday. My wife had a carne asada, which was a bit too salty but very tasty. I had beef and chicken fajitas, which were very good. I was not impressed with the tortillas, but they served their purpose. The chips had no salt and were great, as was the accompanying salsa. All in all, we liked this place very much and plan to return.
