The restaurant's signature design element is an elegant Ipe (ee-pay) wood from Brazil. It separates the main dining room and the lounge. Greeting you as you enter the main dining room are Koi fish painted on the floor. Above the Sushi bar, a 12' x 8' Japanese inscription screen, hand painted by a Buddhist Monk.
We arrived a few minutes before our reservation. We wete told it would be 5-10 minutes until our table for 2 was ready. While we waited a number walk-in customers were seated. We finally got seated 15 minutes after our reservation. We sat at our table for another 10 minutes before our server came by to take our drink order, but the host hadn't given us the drink menu! Our server said she would bring us a drink menu, but went off to take an order from another table. It was obvious the situation wasn't going to get better so we left. The restaurant was overwhelmed and under managed.
Food was good, as expected...we dine there often & enjoy Eiko’s. However, on this night, the service by staff (not waiter) was not so good - one memorable “event” stuck out. When our after-dinner coffee arrived lukewarm, we quickly asked for a fresh pot. The young staff member proceeded to take our individual cups (which we had added cream to) & collectively dump them back into the coffee pot right at the table. About 10-15” later, he came back with a new pot... or so we thought. However, as we poured the coffee, it became obvious (because the coffee was not black) that the server had just reheated the first pot with everyone’s previously tasted & mixed-together coffees. He didn’t seem to think there was anything wrong with his “method”. But after we stated clearly we needed a NEW pot, he did finally bring a freshly brewed one. Unfortunately at that point, we were done with our desserts & kinda felt icky about coffee anyway. Re-training/ remediation desperately needed!
We felt the service was incredibly poor - from the hostess to the waiter. Our group of 4 are all great cooks so we go out for the service - and boy did they fail at it in so many ways. First there were not enough menus so we had to wait - then the table they had for us was right by the door and there was a cold wind blowing in every time it opened and they could not put us anywhere else....the food took forever - when we asked for clean plates for the second wave of food they were soaking wet - water glasses went unfilled.....just all around no attention paid to their patrons - we won't be back! (vote with your $$ folks!)
Good sushi - and nice cocktail area
Interesting menu and good sushi...but a super surly waiter and what appears to be an uninterested staff. I had a good experience at their Oxbow outlet a few months ago, but the restaurant is generally disappointing.
Service was not up to par. Food was delicious.
Very casual Sushi Restaurant with moderate menu prices with an excellent selection of creative dishes. When browsing the menu, you'll find way too many amazing sounding dishes you'll want to try, but that would be way too much food for one sitting... so it keeps you coming back.
Reason for not 5 stars:
1) The tables, chairs and floor are showing significant wear.
2) Mens restroom is way too small. 1 stand up and 2 stalls. Often there is a line to use on an busy night.
3) Staff dress code would elevate the perception of a quality sushi restaurant. When you walk in and see the host as well as a bar tender wearing a tshirt, it seems a little out of place with a $$$ price rating.
Overall, I LOVE dining at Eikos and will keep bringing my friend and family as often as I can.
Sashimi plate. Very fresh and delicious!
Very good restaurant without the super pretentiousness of a few of the other Japanese restaurants in town. Food can be a miss to very good but the misses are still pretty close. Service can be the same way; be prepared to ask for things after your initial contact with your server. Not cheap, price-wise, but so much better value that others in town and let's face it, it's Japanese food which is always at the higher end. Good for locals and tourists; fun to people watch out the big windows. Eiko's is a most welcome addition to the "new" downtown.
It was our anniversary and I asked for two glasses of bubbles when we sat on my reservation which never came. Our server Dougie, took forever to get to our table. When he finally did no greeting just a “what do you want attitude” You’d think for an anniversary they wouldn’t have given us the worst table in the restaurant. This is one of our favorite places to go in town and will still do so. But if you do go ask for Nini and Ivan.
We ordered two very simple rolls they took an hour to come out and the waiter only checked on us twice once being when he took our order. The rolls weren’t prepared well either. They were loose and my crab was burnt. Both rolls fell apart when being attempted to pick up. Normally it is 10/10 but it was a huge disappointment overall, minus the bus boy he was great.
2 week anniversary well spent
The food was amazing as always. We had a great time.
Reliably the best sushi choices, fabulous rolls and innovative entree. Always a favorite "go to" with out of town guests. Love their sake choices too!
Definitely the best Sushi Restaurant in Napa from a quality/value basis. The experience was
"over the top" because of our server Rhonda. The occasion was my daughters delayed Birthday Celebration.
Everything we had was great and especially the Hamachi Bonbons. The Ricky Ricardo on Vacation roll was really good as well as the Hamachi Nigiri.
I am a regular at this downtown Napa restaurant , and can say from experience it ranks right up there for Sushi, and presents a wide menu beyond fish.
Our service with Nini was excellent as always. The food was delicious especially the special tonight the surf and turf roll!
We had a very nice dinner at Eiko's. Sushi and tempura were delicious. The only problem was that we had a table right next to the front door and the hostess and the waiters were knocking my chair all during dinner. I should have asked for a different table since the restaurant was not full and it was early in the evening. Our waitress was great!
Wonderful dinner, everything was excellent! Atmosphere is very nice.
Cant wait to return.
Ivan is the best!
Our primary residence is Los Angeles, but we are in Napa about once a month and visiting EIKOS is a MUST. Service is always amazing and sushi is fantastic. They also have a dog-friendly patio so we don't have to leave the pups at home
Great food and excellent service. Will definitely recommend.
Our fave in Napa! So good we came twice in a three day stay! Rock shrimp is amazing and we loved the big portion of seaweed salad. Favourite rolls were the Las Vegas, Ricci Ricardo on Holiday, Tsunami and New Zealand (if you like eel). We’d eat here every night if we could.
We love Eikos, we go regularly with friends & family
Whatever you order it is always fresh and delicious! Our waiter, Dougie, is always warm and welcoming and can help you with suggestions on the spice level of the dishes. A great spot for any occasion!
We had an unfortunate table right next to the door but the rest was very good
The sushi was delish. Restaurant was a bit loud but social so not distracting. The staff was very attentive.
Atmosphere and Service is great but menu seems to be going into a Mexican/American/Japanese fusion. I tried a couple dishes like the Hamachi Bonbon and Heirloom Tomato Roll and it did not work. Weird flavors that just did not work together at all. Even the more typical Japanese rolls like Spicy Tuna and California rolls were only average. Miso was good.
Our server (the woman bartender) was amazing! 10 stars!
Food and drinks were delicious! Definitely gets busy quick and we see why! Great place
We remain really impressed with this place. Creative and flavorful sushi and nice size portions. Service is great and the restaurant has a nice vibe.
It's always a pleasure to dine at Eiko's Restaurant! The service with Dougie is outstanding as are the greeters and busing staff! The food is delicious and fresh!
Really like this place. Excellent food, service and atmosphere.
We ate on the patio and had a lovely time
Worst service experience ever, and we love going to Eikos..
Plan on waiting a really long time if you sit outside/bar area. Server passed by me 5 times before I had to ask for a glass of bubbles. My dinner date met up with me and we decided to eat outside instead of at the sushi bar. Always great service at that location!
Order was placed, literally 40 min later is when we got any food. The manager came over and said that it had been rung up as “ToGo”?!! Total bulls$&@. This after I complained to the hostess. Server was obviously wanting us to leave, no apologies, etc.
Always enjoy the fresh food, attentive service by Dougie and the busy vibe of the restaurant!
Great food, very fresh. Friendly staff that made the birthday special!
My daughter and I love this place. So many good restaurants in Napa, we come here a few times a year. Hamachi bon bons are awesome.
Went in for sushi and was not disappointed. Great options with high quality sushi - delicious!
Americanized Japanese food. Sushi was quite good. Service was fine. The ambiance was a little dissappointing. I would recommend it, but under the conditions that they understand it is not a high end true Japanese restaurant.
Another spectacular sushi experience with Sushi Chef Eddie! Had a great handvrl with fresh crab, ahi, avocado and a little ri e.
