Eighty Eight @ The Elms
Food was okay. Nothing was spectacular however it was overpriced for the quality.
Honestly, it was pretty bad. We ordered the 14oz ribeye and 8oz filet both medium rare. One came out as a well done 30oz ribeye, and the other as a well done 8oz filet. The bread and sides were fine. The staff did comp it and brought us out the 14oz ribeye medium rare we had ordered, it came out quickly too, but honestly, it still just wasn't good at all. Potentially breakfast and other items on the menu are better, but I'd stay away from the steak and have low expectations.
The food was great and the room looked beautiful! The only thing I was disappointed with was how long it took to make our food. We had a reservation at 8 and didn't get our food until at least 9. Definitely order an appetizer because the wait was long. However the food was absolutely amazing
Went there for my birthday. Very cozy. Got sat underneath the stairs and the waitress had no issue finding us a new table. Seasonal food was fantastic. If you’re staying at the hotel, definitely eat at the restaurant.
Our server was great. Food was over cooked, overpriced and overall average. Cool ambiance.
We stayed at the elms hotel. It was nice to just walk on in and not have to drive any where. The service and food were great!
My husband and I stayed at the Elms for our anniversary and had a wonderful dinner and breakfast at the Eighty Eight at the Elms.
Food was below average. Appetizers were okay, entrees were awful.
Nice place.... good service but the food wasn’t anything special.... especially for the price. I had surf and turf and my steak was chewy and tough, the shrimp overcooked. My daughter’s lasagna was pretty good. Small menu
Over-priced for bad food
I love the Elms and have eaten at the 88 a few times but was disappointed the last time we went. The food and service were average at best. It was not worth the amount we paid and had high expectations based on our last visit there. It seems to have gone down hill and didn’t offer the fine dining experience we expected for our anniversary. The salad was awful and the steak only okay. I’d recommend for a glass of wine but not for dinner.
My wife has some dietary restrictions due to allergies, but they accommodated her needs perfectly. Both of our meals were excellent, as was the service. I do wish they'd get rid of the televisions, which seem to have become ubiquitous these days, but at least they had the volume off.
The food was delicious. We had the salmon and the ribeye.
Service was great. Food was outstanding. Dining area was neat and clean.
Great place to relax and get really great food. We really enjoyed our stay.
Mystery trip for my husband (and me, but not a mystery).
We sat outside on a beautiful evening. Only bad part was the determined flies.
I love the decor and history of this restaurant. The service is always great and the people are about as friendly as they get. Warm, fresh bread before dinner with a seasoned butter, yum. We both had steak and it was cooked to perfection with a delicious sauce on the side, great potatoes and asparagus as well. We were celebrating our 38th wedding anniversary and received a free dessert. Very thoughtful. We will always come back to the Elms and Eighty Eight when we can and let everyone know how splendid an establishment this is.
I was really excited to have a nice dinner with my husband. Service was friendly and ok, the server never offered another glass of wine and did not keep our water glasses full, but did check on us frequently. I had the BBQ pork and it was wonderful! The broccoli, unfortunately tasted like a cigarette butt, it was really bad. My husband had the prime rib and it was very tasty, but over 50% of the steak was fat. For the price we expected a better cut. I do not think it is unrealistic expectations for at $32 meal to have everything on point. Our meal for the two of us was $109 (tax and gratuity) and that was 1 glass of wine and 1 bottle of beer (not even in a glass). I would return to the hotel, but may not return to the restaurant for the price and overall experience.
Food was good, very over priced but good nonetheless! Service was great, everyone was friendly. However, we had a reservation at both meals we ate here and still had to wait a long time to be seated and we were not even asked about having reservations when being seated. It appeared the restaurant was very understaffed, as everything took a long time. Seating, drink delivery, food delivery....everything! The servers were running around like crazy. If you’re willing to pay the price and have a little patience, it is good. Convenient in that it’s in the hotel, although I probably wouldn’t go again if I weren’t already staying in the hotel.
There was a group of four. We were seated promptly and served immediately. The food was good and I loved that there was no blaring music. Which is something you cant seem to get away from any more. What a pleasure it was to actually get to talk to your guests/friends instead of yelling at them to be heard or sitting silently. Very pleasant atmosphere and yes, I plan to come back.
The food was really awful. Ordered a ribeye which was cooked to the right temperature but other than that, the meal was subpar on maybe levels.
So impressed. We were skeptical from earlier reviews but the new management has turned this place into a gem.
Food was over priced for what it was. Good drinks.
Be sure to wonder down to the garden to see what the kitchen is picking for dinner! The green beans were literally farm to table and fabulous! The rest of the food was prepared as we asked. The only thing that was not great was the panna cotta which was too sweet and gummy. Service was excellent. Sitting outside is the way to go if weather permits but sit far away from the noise of the AC compressor!
We enjoyed dinner at Eighty Eight for my mother's 80th birthday and it was wonderful! The food was delicious, and the service was top-notch!
As guests in the hotel, I took my wife there as part of our 25th year anniversary. There were a number of drunk, loud, and obnixous individuals at the bar in the resturant that ruined our special dinner. On top of it all, the menu selection was limited and the portions were small and over priced. The food was good, but I would not recommend for special nights out.
The food, which tasted like it came from packages, was incredibly overpriced for both quality and quantity. They were out of half the drink menu, too. This place is missing a chance to corner the market for fine dining in the area because it's cutting corners with the ingredients and talent.
Out of 3 entrees, food took a long time and was not hot when arrived. Server was pleasant, not her fault.
I loved the restaurant. The service was great!! Everyone was very nice!!! I loved the ambiance!!
The shrimp cocktail was tiny and the sauce tasted like ketchup and not cocktail sauce. My chicken Marsala was not chicken Marsala. For the prices, not worth it. Eat in town at Mercantile (excellent food) or Rays dinner.
Cozy and special. Food is great, nice menu selection.
Wait staff accommodating to requests. Having reserved on Open Table and noting it was for our anniversary, a nicer seating location should have been reserved. Instead, we were seated at a table for two “under the stairway.”
The restaurant overall is not upscale, but nice. Noted no candle or flowers on tables for evening dinner ambience. Lighting was the same as during the daytime.
Food was good; high quality steak prepared to our order and shrimp was delicious. Caesar salad was nothing special.
Food and service at this price point fell extremely short. The food to be honest was worst quality than a local diner. Steaks charred and totally inedible. Salads with flavorless dressing veggies over cooked and over salted. Iced tea was old and had aftertaste. Server was gone for long periods of time and hid when we asked for different salads as taste was so off not edible. Although this restaurant has a monopoly in the town just go to the local bbq place instead. This truly is one of the worst restaurants I have been to in years!
For the price the food was not worth it. Our steak was WAY over cooked and covered in a sauce not mentioned in the description. We ate at Wabash BBQ across the street the next night for 1/4 the price and the food was AMAZING. Don't get me wrong, I will spend big bucks for a nice meal but this one was just not worth the $100 (only having one drink, no dessert)
Food portions are tiny and we were seated basically in the aisle and walkway to the bar and kitchen. Food was ok. Overly saucy.
The room was very clean. I especially liked the maintenance staff. My husband and I absolutely loved the bartender. We are looking forward to seeing him next time we come. The waitresses were great. The only thing that we wasn't crazy about was the breakfast. The pool was very nice and the grotto was wonderful. We would definitely recommend our friends to stay. Oh the paranormal tour was fun too.
The place was high end so we expected high end food. We got the shrimp cocktail for appetizer and it was clearly pre cooked thawed out shrimp. My husband got the ribeye and it had steak sauce and the potatoes were awful. I ordered salmon and it was good, but overall the food needs to step it up for the price we paid. terrible.
Food was average. It is nice to have a restaurant in the hotel.
Food was very good and hotel and restaurant were very nice. Lunch menu isn't very big so choices were limited. However everyone said their meals were great. Waitress did a great job!
Very quiet during our lunch.
