Eighteen Ninety Grille and Lounge Ratings and Reviews
Overall this restaurant is about as good as it gets in Granbury. It's located on the town square and parking is very convenient right across the street. Wait staff couldn't have been better. However, IMO it is a bit overpriced for what you get. My steak was cooked to perfection but my date's pork chop was not. In fact she did not tell me until afterwards that it was almost raw despite the beautiful char on the outside. Before the waiter had come to clear the table prior to serving dessert, I cut the meat away from the bone and indeed it was extremely rare. Rather than make a scene on NYE, we decided not to spoil the evening by making a scene. I would recommend this restaurant with the exception of advising not to get anything like pork that requires to be cooked thoroughly unless you check the done prior to consuming.
Excellent overall. Great, quaint little spot on the square. Expensive meal, but if you're celebrating - this is the spot to do it. Excellent house merlot. Delicious Filet. Seafood pasta was also a hit at our table. Side note: If you're staying in Granbury, grab a latte at the coffee shop next door in the morning.
We visited on a week night, so it was very quiet and a perfect place to dine! We had a reservation, but were early...no problem....promptly seated! Great drinks....cranberry martini was delicious! We chose the Texas Trio as an appetizer.....wow.....wonderful choice! It was very tasty! Filet was our entree....tender and flavorful! The best was saved for last....banana pudding! Wonderful dining experience in this cute town!
The most fabulous Texas Trilogy appetizer and tender, flavorful filet. We are delighted to have a fine dining establishment with impeccable service so close to home in Granbury! Beautiful Christmas decorations inside and out, looking out at the lights on the town square. The perfect place to celebrate our holiday-time anniversary!
I am fairly new to Granbury...and by far this is my Favorite Place to dine!!! I have dined upstairs and also have sat at the bar many times and I would recommend either option...Everytime I have company in from out of town this is my go to place... and of course, they are always so complimentary on the food, service, location and ambiance...
Seriously..... I'm 41, and that was one of the best dining experience I've had yet..... I wish I could remember our waitresses name but the glass of wine she brought me was so flip'n tasty and stout that my brain stopped obtaining new information... the FOOD...... No words.. We started with the Texas Trilogy and holy smoke-wagons, my fork fell through the meat like an over-boiled carrot. I almost ordered a second one to take back to the Bed & Breakfast just to lick throughout the evening.
Our Filets came out and I knew for certain there was no way they were gonna compete with the Trilogy and man oh man was I wrong.
I had a glass of the house white and left happy.
THIS PLACE ROCKS!!
I will be back!
1890 has always been our 'go-to' for a date night. This particular evening, we arrived early for our reservation and enjoyed the downstairs bar very much-the service was excellent. When the hostess escorted us upstairs for dinner, we were seated, and waited 15 minutes or longer for the server. We finally flagged down someone and gave our drink order to him; shortly thereafter, another server showed up asking is we wanted drinks. Once they decided who our server was (it was the second guy), we ordered an appetizer and dinner. The ahi tuna appetizer was excellent; dinner was only mediocre--my salmon was good, but the grits were dry and only slightly warm. The grits were the reason I chose the salmon entree as they were described as creamy...they weren't. The bread was good but the dipping oil was mediocre. We enjoyed dinner out on the town, but this was not the typical performance of 1890--not sure we will go back.
We have been to 1890's Grill a number of times. The food remains consistently good, but the menu also remains the same year after year. For the price of the entree's and the scale of restaurant they are trying to project, more variety in the menu over time would be nice.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent - informative and attentive but not intrusive (a rare experience these days). The wine list is extensive so there should be no difficulty finding something you like. We chose a Tempranillo from Pedernales Cellars (Texas) and were not disappointed. Kudos to Eighteen Ninety for including Texas wines on their list. We were seated upstairs and appreciated being able to converse easily at a normal volume.
we were disappointed. It was noisy to the point of being unable to converse with each other or get the waiters attention. We had to shout at her several times to be heard. Nor did she approach us to attend to our requests unless we called to get her attention.
No tablecloths or placemats. Really?! At those prices!
When our entree was served the waiter reached across one of us to serve the other rather than walk around the table to serve the second diner.
Is there an elevator for handicapped or seniors? If so one was not offered and we both would have appreciated a lift.
We were amazed at your limited menu: no shrimp cocktail, no baked potato. Too cliche?
ONE HIGH POINT: The steaks were outstanding! Best we have eaten in this area!
Sorry, we could not recommend 1890 to friends. Leaves too much to be desired.
Went for my moms birthday. Her salmon was undercooked for her liking. Waiters response was that’s the way the chef cooks it. Waiter came back out and said temp was 1 degree under where fish should be. Brought out 15 minutes later new plate of nicely cooked salmon. We all resumed eating our cold dinners. Food was good, just waitstaff should have handled situation differently.
